Pregnant with Prenatal Down Syndrome Diagnosis- watch this!

Many pregnant women’s heart break and struggle with pregnancy after a Down syndrome diagnosis. The thing is - In utero diagnosis information about the outcome of a baby with DS is limited and health care providers often paint a picture of the worst case scenario -scary. I hope this will help ease fear and show people the baby kicking around on the ultrasound is love from above. I was not prepared for how much I would love life with a child who has Down syndrome.

My Mom's brother, my uncle, had downs syndrome. I don't ever remember that he took away anything from any of our lives. Instead, he added so much. He lived with my grandparents until he died at the age of 66. Growing up around him made me more aware of what was really important, and it wasn't things. It was people, family, relationships. Ronnie had his place in our family and community, just like everyone else. It was his job to cut the grass, take his trike to get the mail. When we were working in the garden or in the yard he would show up to supervise or help, usually with a funny comment or teasing. I learned how to colour in the lines by watching him, he was so neat, and patient, two things I wasn't. It is the saddest thing that our present generation believes that other people's lives are less important than their own. Every life is important. Every life you take to protect your own life will in the end cost you your own life; but when you give your life away for the good of others lives, you will find your life.
