    I got 200+ hours in GZW now, (and much more than that in Tarkov over the last seven years or so) As I am aging I find PVP to intense, and often try-hard in these types of games. I'd taken to playing the tarkov Single player mod in the last year, wishing for a co-op element. The pvp was just too full of cheaters, never knew if a kill was legit or not, don't have time to focus on the game for an hour straight.
    I think there's was a large audience waiting for a single player/co-op mode for tarkov. Then they realease it with a crazy price tag. They could have brought in so many new players if they just included it in the base game. Would have made much more money in sales bringing in new people, than hoping to charge their hardest core fans again.
    The Tarkov drama def had an effect on GZW sales, but I don't think the effect was that dramatic. 35$ is a low price to hop in and try a game. Lots of tarkov players would have tried it anyway, and then lots of mil-sim players looking and otherts for a much needed pve co--op extraction shooter were excited to have an option. Because Tarkov is the Mother of the extraction shooter, people expect kill or be killed pvp to be a non-negotiable part of the genre. lazy old casuals like me were just waiting for something to come along. And there are literally dozens of us.

    People speed ran an EA title and are bored already.
    People are putting in 50 hours a week in this game and im not sure the devs expected it.
    I agree on needing more content, like specific faction clothing, guns, etc.
    But it is fun and a great game, and thousands of people are ready for more, which is a good sign.

    • @MansterBear
      @MansterBear 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yea. I bought this with the expectation that it's an alpha. I thought I'll just learn the systems, map, etc and "practice" for now so that in 6+ months when it's more fleshed out and becoming closer to a full game I'll only have to learn the new items, locations, systems, etc and not learn the whole game all at once.
      Then you get 4 full time streamers playing 10 hours per day for a couple weeks and complain about the lack of content lol
      For normal people like me... I've played 25 hours and its like the only thing Ive wanted to play since I bought it. And that's more time gaming than I usually get, but it's so fun I end up staying up too late lol. Sometimes I can see the downside for these full time gamers. They do everything so fast. They're good individually, they have a group of friends just like them, and they have unlimited time.
      They put 100 hours in in 2 weeks, and they beat things 2 or 3 time faster than the average person. So of course games get boring quickly.

    • @TwinCityShredder
      @TwinCityShredder 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MansterBear I agree. I have only put about 10 hours in game, and the other 20 hours in dialing in a custom controller config.
      All I know, is for the majority who can play the game in its current state, we are enjoying the frantic situations and looting.
      I've never played a game this hard core, as I've spent the last couple years playing hell let loose. But with no actual big fixes announced for that game, and some issues that have been happening for 3 years now, I'm ready to play something with more meaning and a higher skill level.
      As soon as the performance gets settled, I know more people will be enjoying the current gameplay loop, as many of us have since release.

      I think this is the #1 reason why people stopped playing. The amount of crashes and DCs alone is enough to account for at least 50% of that player drop off. Lack of content or people just not into the game probably accounts for the rest. I enjoy the game and am able to power through because of it but it definitely isn't hard to figure out why the player numbers dropped and continue to drop. Most people (myself included) cant get through a full session without atleast 1 crash and most people just arent gonna deal with that

    It's an ethical debate, but it was very clever to release when they did. People wanted to play something else to stick it to BSG, and they did. They never would have got this deep of a pool of testers if the timing was different.
    The bigger issue is ABI did the same thing. The difference was ABI was much closer to ready, and to get access you didn't need to risk any money. So I don't think Tarkov resolved their drama, but GZW didn't scratch the itch either.
    Due to the release of ABI, I think this buys GZW some time to fix their issues and add content before people feel like they got ripped off responding to drama. It's up to Madfinger now to deliver in a timely fashion.

    • @13lacklightYT
      @13lacklightYT  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      is ABI out for everyone? I knew it was closed beta but it's not actually out is it?
      But yea, ABI is going to be more finished, it's already fully out on mobile. I do want to play it, but ABI and Tarkov are competitors. GZW just feels like a different genre. Obviously there's similarities, but the game loop is so different.
      I do hope you're right that people that are bothered by issues with GZW just go play ABI and then in a few months GZW has some big patch that makes it alot closer to it's "finished game form" and people will gladly come back and it has basically a 2nd launch

  • @donny4405
    @donny4405 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    With 121 hours in GZW it is absolutely bussin, for an Alpha state it's been pretty good. Once the game is optimized and they get things worked out, it's going to be absolutely GOLDEN. S tier if you will. If what we have now came from a company that mainly built mobile games this is insane with the quality the game has.
    I am running GZW on a 4070tis, R9 5900x with FSR on frame gen and Balanced, with the most important setting on high I am getting anywhere between 120-170 frames depending on locations and the amount of AI that is in the area. For example, Fort Narith I get a smooth 120 frames.
    Madfinger being able to release a game, make patches to fix crashes and further better stability is crazy to me. This gives me infant state of Helldivers vibes where the devs are just cranking out Ws left and right, and I hope the devs keep doing good and not pull a nerf wave to weapons like Arrowhead.
    Pros: It's very fun, the task progression isn't easy but it's also not hard, could it be better? Absolutely, like a multistep task that doesn't require you to go back to FOB each time. That would be excellent. The weapons feel REALLLYYY good. The zeroing mechanic is such a fantastic element and is fun to get used to and hella satisfying to lead one shot headshot an AI. The health system is complex but inviting giving you a sense of strategy to where you're not rushing into objectives blindly. It offers a cool mechanic to heal teammates and pull them from a coma. Was it daunting? Oh for sure but it got easy after learning which item is used best for each wound type. The armor is great, could use some more variety but if you understand the NIJ scale you'll get used to it pretty quick. The customization for the weapons is crazy and you can feel the changes in real time. The storage is lacking if you didn't buy the supporter edition, but it is manageable if you know how.
    Cons: We'll just address the elephant in the room. The AI in this game is not for the faint of heart. You will die, a lot. You will get shit, a lot. The AI(especially in teir 3 areas) is absolutely CRACKED. Right now AI can one tap you from 300m with an iron sight AK or Mosin no problem. But I'm the other hand you can't do the same unless you zero or take your time firing. My biggest complaint so far with the AI is the amount of rounds they can take. It doesn't happen all the time but it is frustrating to drop 20 rounds in an unarmored AI just to have them 3 shot you. But the devs are looking into fixing this issue. The "Request denied all available birds are in the air".. ooooofff the dreadful call INS for the helps, it is frustrating to have to wait for an available bird to come pick you up. They need to add at least maybe two more helps per faction so me and my buddies don't have to wait an hour to extract. Shotguns and pistols are essentially useless. If you're not running M855 or M855AI rounds, your essentially shooting bbs. The tasks can be repetitive for sure. One thing I would say that would be cool if if they made multiple multistep tasks that send you to multiple locations and if you die during that task you'll start at the last step that you have stored in your secure box. Or something that keeps you on your toes and makes you really think about how you go about gearing up your load outs. Things like that would make tasks much much better. Also, need to make swapping to your backpack gun better and faster than what it is now.
    All in all I'm excited to see where this game goes and the awesome content and new weapons we get! I've been having absolute blast with Gray Zone Warfare.

    They probably did capitalize on the EFT drama, but they also stressed it was early access and ~20% done.
    I think for the average person, like me, who doesn't have a ton of game time, it's great. I don't have 3 streamer friends to buzz through 100 missions in a couple weeks and get everything, etc. I've played probably 25 hours (which is more than I usually play games total in 2 weeks). I'm at the YBL / HP / BanPa stage of tasks, and I'm just having a blast.
    Working on cleaner runs, dying less, learning how the AI move and what to expect from them, etc.
    I bought it with the assumption that we might be a year away from having a "full game". I expect in a year we'll have new locations on the map, more loot that makes it exciting/intense to get those items we've really been looking for... maybe interactive map scale events, like fighting over territories or LZs for a team to "own it", etc. But for now, the simple challenge of doing the tasks, learning the POIs etc is what I was expecting and am enjoying.
    Im glad it's stripped down and I can learn a bunch of basics and know them inside and out before we start getting more complicated systems, like knowing which of the 1000 items should be top priority looting bc I need them to upgrade my base, or they'll be worth 10x the amount later in the wipe, etc.
    That stuff is cool, but I'm ok waiting to get there, and am basically looking at this like "practice" so when the game is filled out, I'm not trying to figure 100 things out at the same time (which is why Tarkov was "too much" for me a few years ago when I tried it).

    The release date was coincidental and had nothing to do with Tarkov. The initial plan was to go early access in Q1, and that was still officially the plan as late as early March. It was always communicated that playtest is the final stage before the EA release. It all just got slightly delayed, but the date was basically set in stone the moment the huge content creator playtest was announced, and it would only be changed if the playtest turned out to be a failure. But it wasn't. Content creators played the game for hours and hours, had massive fun and people were salivating to get their hands on it as well. The fact that Tarkov shit their pants just a few days before the release date was a happy/unhappy coincidence. True, it turned the hype to 11, leading to some massive disappointment from some people, but it also generated some extra revenue for the devs.
    If you were in the loop though, the early access experience turned out to be exactly what they communicated. Is the game finished? No. Does it have all the necessary content to sustain people's interest indefinitely? No. Is it still a good experience regardless? Sure. Finishing all the quests will take you easily over 100h. Nothing wrong with moving on to something else and waiting for a wipe to take another ride around Lamang, like people do with Tarkov. In fact, the less people play the game, the less the upkeep of the servers. You got your money's worth, while the devs save on the servers - it's a win-win.

    I am enjoying this game more than tarkov thats for sure. Less stressfull than the reserve siren 🚨 or D2 extract camper. Domt really care what streamers think because now a days streamers are following where money is big rather than have a gamer mind set of just having fun. Now a days interent is full of complaining rather than just "enjoyment". On the note yes they did rush the game but ateast we know they are not the type of people who starts tweet for "looking like they care" after a drama if you know whom I am talking about.
    Tarkov is unhealthy for you. Heart racing all the time. Rattng when pvp starts because thats what the game is made the players force that playstyle. The audio is so bad you need to turn up the system volume by 50+ % to have a some sort of advantage. People dont realize this today but as time passes this could deafen them.
    To conclude my point, tarkov build based on keepjng streamers in mind. GZW is for "gamers" who are passionate about playing games and where casual can have fun.
    People seem to have forgotten to be patient as game development is not easy. At the end of the day I habe noticed where steamers follow where audience follows which I am hating so mcuh atm.

    I'm enjoying the game so far(around 50 hours in), agreed it does need work and content, but if this supposedly is only 20-30% of what they have planned for the game, I think there off to a good start. Regarding the release of EA amidst the Tarkov drama, it might of been coincidence or pushed....regardless, witrh the game being a persistence world where the only loading is when you launch the game, also how big the world is and how it's living and breathing, the only way they could truly test the tech is to have as many players as possible to verify what work and what needs to be tweaked, fixed, optimized, stabilized. The first patch doesn't need to be big in content , which I'm fine with if it is big in optimization and getting the game stable, so to give it a good foundation to build content atop.

    In my opinion there is way to much bushland and trees around the whole map and the helicopters needs to have increased speeds or have more direct routes to LZs instead of doing this whole little zig zag in and around trees / water towns

    This game has a similar issue to no mans sky. No they did not lie about it, the hype train just ran out of control. Also they planned to release the game in this state. I don't believe they pushed release to ride tarkov drama.

      They talked about the roadmap before even the streamers got it.

    PvE focus is the problem....no one cares about a game that is vs just AI. Look at ground branch and ready or not which has no PvP aspect to it. Those game slowly die.

    Playerbase is low now bcs stutters and bad performance even with good hardware and kilometers of jungle with nothing to do,just that simple

    When you only have 20% of the game you wont be able to keep community playing there game. Developers just need consistently update the game and community will comeback and numbers will go up again.

      Yea. I know they said theyre reconsidering having wipes, but I think if every few months they have some huge updates with a reset, people will come back regularly. And in 6 months to a year, this game will be amazing. I already love it, but I'm a normie who gets to game like twice a week lol. So I'm far from being "bored" or out of content. But in a year, I think the game will be almost an entirely different game than what it is today

    I disagree with everything you've said here.
    "except that there's not enough content" i agree, but not in the game, in this video.
    Your just making stuff up that's not that interesting. I know that content creation is hard, but your not nailing it. Look deeper.

      Kind of disagree.. I like sparking discussions through videos and voicing my thoughts which not a lot of youtubers with bigger followings do.. This is something I enjoy.. and to be fair since I have basically released nearly every single task video for this game there isn't much left to 'content create' with in GZW atm

    I agree with you. I think they need to lean into some PvP content early on with things like PvP events and airdrops to fight over, perhaps even a PvP specific vendor. And then while that’s going on they need to release much bigger pve content. I hope unreal engine 5 eventually evolves enough that it can create a space where it’s really easy for devs to get content out to the consumer. I think that will be a true next gen win for the gaming industry in general/ just to have the ability to push out content at speeds previously unheard of.
