    I’ve been using freezer paper for a long time in my craft room. Another tip is to lightly iron out tissue paper (either a pretty print or just plain white) to get any fold or creases out of it. Good way to recycle tissue paper from your gifts. Then, take the tissue paper and lightly iron it to the slick side of the freezer paper. If you use the big rolls, you can make your own paper that is larger than 12x12. If you used a plain color, you can then stamp on this because the freezer paper made the tissue more sturdy. I used to use it to make custom large envelopes before the days of the punch board. I had plastic templates and traced them out on the back of the freezer paper (paper side) and cut them out. I was always looking for larger paper to make envelops for 6x6 cards and this fit the bill.

    Some helpful tips. I too am a quilter and sewers as well as making cards and I’ve been using freezer masks for some time. As mentioned below, I just iron the mask onto my card stock and peel it off when I’m done. You can use it over & over again. You could also reinforce it just with cheap card stock glued to the paper side so you can still iron it down.

    WOW! I never would have thought to use freezer paper in my crafting room. It will go along with my Press and Seal. Thank you for sharing so many advantages of the product. I especially like the idea of making the mask with it - it looks sturdy. I'm looking forward to your upcoming videos using what you showed today.

    Your video is filled with awesome tips Nina. Slowly but surely many of the items on rolls (like waxed paper, foil.....) are making their way from my kitchen to my craft room. Thanks so much for sharing and I hope your week is off to a great start. ~HUGS~

    Of course I have used freezer paper for appliqué but never thought to use it for messy card making techniques. I especially like the last idea, using it for stenciling. TFS

    Fantastic video Nina Marie!!! I'm 'old school' so have a huge roll of it in my kitchen. I've recently delved into alcohol inks so you can bet I'll be taking your advice. Love the idea of using it to create masks as well! Well done sweetie!!! You are again bookmarked! TFS!

    Great ideas. As a quilter, I use freezer paper for applique shapes all the time. If you put it slick side down onto your fabric or paper and gently heat it with an iron, it will stick temporarily but peel off cleanly. Great for stencils.

    Nichol, this is brilliant I had never thought of freezer paper for these techniques. You are really helping me out with my New Years Resolution one of which was to make more of an effort to create my own backgrounds on my cards therefore developing my crafting skills. Thank you for giving up you time and effort in putting these video tutorials together. :O)

    Could wax paper be used instead? What makes freezer paper the thing to choose instead?

    Can you substitute parchment paper used for baking for freezer paper? Is freezer paper sold in a grocery store anywhere? Loved your video with so many great ideas. Thank you.

      I would check out amazon. I live in Canada and get mine from Walmart in a huge roll for a great price, but I"ve also seen it on Amazon at a competitive price as well. Good luck!

      Freezer paper is sold in grocery stores. It's displayed along with aluminum foil, waxed paper, etc. I personally don't believe parchment paper could be used for this. It's much more delicate. The slick surface of the freezer paper is what seems to make it more durable...and allow the inks to move around.

    • @anneslinger2189
      @anneslinger2189 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think parchment paper would work, because I don't think it has that waxy surface that makes for all the uses where inks and colors alode right off
