For classic rock, you had bands like boohwal and buzz, and soloists such as kim kyung ho. They were some of the most powerful vocalists korea ever had. At the turn of the century you start to hear nu and rap metals, seo taiji being one of them. Afterwards, when the idol industry began to explode, rock died along with it. Just like how aespa became the trend setter for drastic switchups, dreamcatcher ended up becoming the same thing, but this time for rock music.
70s 80s rock instrumental with modern pop dance melodies. And this set the bar high. If other producers gonna follow the rock trend on kpop this song is what they need to beat. Rock will also show the vocal color of the artists.

4th gen is WAY more talented these days....these kids start SO EARLY now, from pure singing/dancing/rap skills they're so much better trained then past idols overall (obviously there are unicorns in every gen). And btw....korea actually had always been into rock and rock ballads especially. All of those old dudes on masked singer or being judges on singing shows were all rock and rock ballad musicians
