I am a Seattle Seahawks fan. The first one I'm doing is in colors I have, the rest will be in my Seahawk colors, blue and green. Can't wait to see finished product. Thanks again. Keep recording. I used to use these exact instructions and found that the back support bar bent when someone sat in it. The cord manufacturer gave me slightly different instructions. Instead of going under the support bar, try going over, around and up between the strands. This changes the tension on the bar and it gives it a nice finished look.

    I used this technique for the back and seat of an old rocker. I had to use the original holes for caning in the areas where the arm rests attached, because I couldn't get around the frame in those spots. That was a bit tricky and required pulling a lot of cord through the holes, but it turned out beautifully.

    Great tutorial video! I have a 70's era book on doing this and it has a much more complicated approach than this one. Liked this as it is easier, but did my seat back from the top down to put the final knot at the bottom of the back in a less noticeable position. Didn't have any problem with the hooks, you should be able to point them in either direction. Thanks!

    I love your video and following your instructions, I have finished 6 chairs so far. Only difference, besides the pattern, is that I used 2 kinds of rope that were designed to be outside. I got 100' clothesline rope from Wal-Mart (Polyester and Polypropylene blend) and boating rope from Menards (these come in a bunch of pretty colors). I watched a lot of videos but kept coming back to yours, Thank You

    This is really awesome thank you for posting.. I was wondering if this is macrame or crochet and weaving? I thought macrame was more of a knotting technique where usually each cord needs to be cut to size.. this seems to be crochet, one long cord looped again and again, & then weaved to make a pattern

    Pepperell Braiding Company sells a lot of really nice patterns for these chairs. I made a KoKopelli chair about 22 years ago. It finally broke last month. I bought a new frame on Amazon (cheaper than a vintage frame) and bought the Bonnie Craft Cord and pattern from Pepperell.

    Im really wanting to do this (sorta) to make a hammock. I was thinking I could mount spreader bars for the hammock on the wall and chain the two long sides, giving me all 4 sides needed to weave. Of course would just weave in and out to a super sturdy one rather than a pattern like shown here... wondering if it would work. Haven't had any luck finding instructions on something similar to what Im thinking that would make a solid hammock out of rope, just standard hammock instructions, and ones made from fabric which I don't like at all.

    Hi! Great video.... One thing I found was that I was doing my stringing too tight. On the bottom of the top part of your chair it droops a bit which is nice. My girlfriend back home said that it would be more comfortable if there was some play. So I took out about 6 inches of weaving and I redid it. Much better! I can get the horizontal rows closer together now that it's a bit looser. Thanks for sharing this!!!

    I have a question. I am new to this and have finished the first color of cord. I'm having a terrible time with the cord getting very twisted and tangled. I pulled the cord from the center of the skein. What am I doing wrong?

    • @lisagarrett6931
      @lisagarrett6931 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You aren't doing anything wrong. It will do that from being twisted into the skein. You can either pull extra cord out of the skein and push the twists away from the cord you are working with or you can completely undo the whole skein (not recommended as that leads to further entanglement). It's annoying to have to push the twists away from the work area, but it is nothing that you are doing wrong. You can even see it happening in the video.

    • @UnReaLgeek
      @UnReaLgeek 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Roll the skein as you pull - that helps reduce the twist of you roll with the twist.
