    PS - Jude still has NO teeth! You don’t need any teeth to start BLW :) Also, I’ve linked everything I’ve mentioned in the description including the starting solids course, high chair, plates we use, etc for anyone getting started! 🥰

    You’re giving your baby quite a few things for the first time together- if they have a reaction you won’t know which food it was. When introducing foods - do them one at a time. My LO had a rash after kiwi for the first time but we knew straight away as it was the only new thing she’d had.

    This is so helpful! I have a 7mo old and we have been doing BLW for about a month but not nearly as much as I would like to. It's hard to include her in our meal times because they are always during her naps. My husband also works in ministry so we're very busy with youth group, life group, church, meeting with people, etc. Right now I've only been able to give her solids a few times a week as it's been hard to make it a routine. Mom guilt is real but this was so helpful and encouraging to see.

    • @BethGraceMoore
      @BethGraceMoore  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Totally get that - the ministry busyness is real haha. We've skipped some days too and that's totally fine! Sometimes I just offer a mum mum cracker at the table while he's sitting with us when I don't have time for the full ordeal... BLW clean up is intense 🤪

    Me and my wife are expecting in Oct, and I’ve been watching many vids but I noticed that BLW is a tough stage because I know we will have constant anxiety but we also did take child CPR from infant to children so that’s always a bonus and would 100000% recommend

    This video was so helpful. My baby is 7 months old and we started solids last month. Also had so many fears of what she can and cant eat. Sometimes she just doesnt want to eat a meal because she is full from breastmilk and then I stress when she skips a meal that shes not getting in what she should. This video and reading comments by other mommies made me feel more relaxed

    I'm also about to take apart his babybay maxi and holding back tears. Time flew too fast. Just wanted to say thank you for introducing me to the babybay. It was one of my VERY favourite purchases for my baby. Its beautiful and so well made. Love that it rolls around. Its expensive but I felt great putting my money into a company that I believe in and not made in china. I'm jealous that yours still looks light/white, mine has sliiiiiightly yellowed from the sun exposure in our bedroom (we do get a lot of light). For anyone considering the babybay bassinet, just DO IT!

    We follow the motto "food before one is just for fun" in order to prioritize breastmilk. We go super slow, but BLW has been great for our kids. MOST of my five kids are great eaters. 😂 Our number 4 broke the mold in many ways, including being our only picky eater! This is my favorite phase of babyhood. It is so fun to see little ones find new favorites.

    I'm confused. In one clip (9:18)you're about to introduce I think 3 new foods at once including the peanut butter? Wouldn't you want to introduce one at a time giving at least 3 days in between? What if there's some sort of reaction... how would you know what caused a reaction if you're giving all of those new foods at once? Or are those foods you're showing going to be given one at a time every 3 days?

    It was helpful to see how you prepared the foods and the different types of foods that can be introduced. And the app recommendation is helpful. But I do think that a single allergen should be introduced for 3-5 days before introducing another allergen. It is more likely that if they are going to have an allergic reaction that they would have it on the second or third time of eating a food.

    • @BethGraceMoore
      @BethGraceMoore  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I usually would pack something like baby friendly muffins with me, or at restaurants order sides like veggies and then still offer protein from my meal like chicken, beef etc. I also do love the mum mums for when we're out and with a high chair because they aren't messy and it's nice for baby still be able to participate at the table :) I don't think I offered consistent snacks until closer to 10/12 months. Just slowly introduced more meals over time!

    The only thing I would disagree with would be giving 2 new foods in the same meal, eg kiwi and peanut butter. If he were to react you wouldn’t necessarily know what it was 😊

    • @BethGraceMoore
      @BethGraceMoore  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Totally comes down to what you’re comfortable with :) we aim for at least one fat source, one vitamin c source and one iron source per meal for variety. We always introduce the most common allergens one at a time (eggs, milk, nuts, soy, sesame, tree nuts, fish, crustacean, mustard, sulphites etc). I would use process of elimination if we noticed a reaction to something not considered one of the common allergens!

    Hi there! How do you gauge if baby is ready to start having solids based on how well they’re able to sit unassisted? When placing my baby on the floor, he definitely is not able to bring himself to a seated position, and is only able to remain seated when I let go for like a second or 2. But, he has very good neck strength and is always on his tummy. He’s able to sit in a high chair though. Is it necessary that they can sit on the floor unassisted too before starting? He’s already 6.5 months now and I’ve just started him on purées because I’m nervous he’ll choke since he can’t sit on his own yet.

    The bassinet might be worth it if you're in the USA or get it gifted, but to get it to Canada, its costs over $1,000!

    • @BethGraceMoore
      @BethGraceMoore  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s an investment for sure, but some people are paying almost $2000 CAD for the Snoo only to transition their babies out at 3 months 😂 so everyone is in a different position. I think if you know you’re planning on multiple babies and it’s your first or second, investing in a Babybay could definitely be worth it!

      Hello! I did! I haven’t noticed the issue as much this time around as I did with my first baby - but at that point in time I told my family doctor + lactation consultant and ended up being prescribed domperidone for breast milk production. I tried all the natural remedies + power pumping before a period with no luck. The domperidone worked wonders and I just took it the week before my period to prevent the milk from drying up!

      I find that working off of the iron source, fat source, vitamin c source model has been so helpful when it comes to creating meals for the babies (and our family 😂). When you break it down by that list it’s easier to think up new foods that fit that category that you don’t necessarily eat often!

    One thing I️ get scared is when they take too big of a bite. Is that normal and do you let him take control when that happens?

    • @BethGraceMoore
      @BethGraceMoore  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, let them work it out! Our first did this and it was so freaky haha. It’s tempting to take it from their mouth but this can actually push the food further back and be more dangerous than letting them work on it themselves. Model what chewing looks like and give them the opportunity to spit it back out or chew + swallow. Most likely the gag reflex will kick in and they’ll end up spitting it out themselves. If your food passes the “squish test” (i.e you can squish it between your fingers easily) it’s safer for them to work on that bigger piece!

      How I do it is nurse a lot during the day (like all the time) then we have a strict routine where I lay her down by 730pm after a bath and I nurse her to sleep then let her whine for 5 min at a time going in to burp or nurse her then leaving again and she sleeps all night until like 6am, sometimes wakes up for 1 feed at 3 but rarely. I will say babies are different because my first (also exclusively breastfed) never slept through the night. This girl does though and she sleeps on a floor mattress so I can nurse her to sleep. I think this time around I’m just not afraid to let her cry a little bit where with my first I didn’t let her. I also stick the routine no matter what. She won’t sleep though if I don’t nurse her a lot during the day.
