You can volley fire by making your lines hold fire then by having them fire you can make them much more effective, especially for units with smooth bores.
cavalry was one of the better counters against musket infantry. Due to the long reload time of the firearms, they usually didn't get more than one shot off at a range where they'd actually hit before the cavalry got into melee. Muskets were often screened by pikemen to stop exactly that. Mostly they stayed on the flanks of a formation to leave an open firing field, but they were on hand to rush in in case of a cavalry charge. Very much like the Spanish Tercio
Right! What I actually wanted to say when I got onto this tangent of history facts: When you remarked that your cavalry's wild charge actually did significant damage. Well, you know already how crappy the armor is. A cavalry charge absolutely cuts through musket formations. This is before bayonets become standard issue, too. Most line infantry wasn't even handed a back up melee weapon, they just had to use their musket as a club. This is also the time period where the curved cavalry saber becomes more common. Less armor means slashing attacks are once more a viable option. The curve prevents unwanted chopping which could get your blade stuck, you want to cut instead. It also lets you pull your sword out more easily on a gallop-by stabbing than with a straight blade. Don't ask me why I know all this, I don't remember ever looking anything up.
I can see the uniform colour being tied to the soldier rather than the commander's nation being a real issue in a skirmish, getting turned around and not being able to easily identify which guy in red is friend, and which is foe.
Another thing you could do in this series (or any other but this could be cool in Eagle RIsing) could be to try to recreate an empire and ending the playthrough there or when your character dies.
18:49 That one horse just when flying 😂
😂😂
The sound all those rifles makes it excellent
Yes I absolutely agree

Yeah this is very true, I guess doing organised battles will be very important. Haven’t really had an opportunity for that yet
