Pinstripe chronicles, Great show guys as always. I agree with you both! The Yankees need more offense! I like the Yankees pitching but not quite enough offense unless you get a good-hitting third baseman like Alex Bregman. Plus, I heard from the channel "The Shift" that the Yankees want to play Jasson Dominguez in left because they want to put Spencer Jones in center field in 2026 maybe. We will see.

Sorry in advance for the book fellas but this is my whole take on the Arenado situation:
The Cardinals are no more interested in "eating money" than they are taking on a salary dump from the Yankees (Stroman). As I understand it the contract on Arenado is something close to $60M for 3 years. Stroman's contract is $37M for two years. In a one for one deal, that still leaves a delta of about $23M. Let me emphasize that the Cardinals are in rebuild mode with veteran GM John Mozeliak in his last season.
Now this deal assumes of course that the Cardinals would have any interest in taking on a.33 year old right hander with a 4.21 ERA last year and a 1.43 WHIP, for the next two years. at $18.5M per year. I have no idea why the Yankees think this guy's contract should appeal to anyone. Basically this deal would take the Cardinals in the opposite direction of where they want to go. The Yankees aren't going to pay that $23M delta either because it pushes them over the Luxury Tax threshold.
Reminder also that Arenado not only has a no trade clause but has already invoked it once this off season to stop a deal to Houston. I actually think his plan is to use it to force his way to the Dodgers which would be his first choice being a Southern California native and a Dodger fan as a kid. So much so, that he may even choose to wave some of the dollars in that contract if the Cardinals will deal him to the Dodgers.
The Yankees could try and appeal to the Cardinals with prospects to offset the delta. The problem there as you guys have already pointed out, is that the Yankee farm right now is razor thin in terms of MLB ready talent because of the recent promotions to the majors (Volpe, Wells, Dominguez) combined with the prospects they had to give up in the Soto deal who has now departed. I mean the Yankees have exactly 1 player in the top 100 for 2025 published last week and that's Jasson Dominguez.
If your second best prospect is a 24 year old Spencer Jones who is still striking out 40% of the time in the minors and is not considered even in the top 100? Well I'm not impressed and I don't think the Cardinals are either. If the players you mentioned like Mark Leiter were the caliber of player(s) the Yankees would add to the deal, then I would expect a number of clubs to emerge who could offer better prospects (again the Dodgers have 6 players in the top 100) if the the Cardinals or Arenado himself were willing to eat a huge chunk of Arenado"s contract. At that point, Mozeliak would do business with the Dodgers or someone else but not the Yankees because he could get much better prospect(s) in return. .
Don't confuse this with "the Cardinals are holding a fire sale for Arenado". John Mozeliak is a veteran GM whose been with the Cardinals for years, has a tremendous amount of pride and this is his last rodeo. Unfortunately for him, he's the one who got the Cardinals in this mess with Arenado's contract in the first place and he's chartered with the task of cleaning it up before he goes.. He doesn't want to go out totally defeated with this Arenado mess defining his career in St Louis. Especially since it's a deal he screwed up in the first place. Would you?
So for these reasons It's going to be very difficult for the Yankees to pull this off. I give it a less than 5% chance.

cashman .like he did with Gary Sanchez trade. trade garbage for your garbage. look- we looking trade for stroman, and but you have to take dj contract, we're adding top prospect,
