+Elevation Station Productions They can be hilarious sometimes, no matter what it is. I would never expect a SpectrAlert to make crazy sounds like this, let alone, the knockoff of it.
I had one of these as my first ever NA, I still have it somewhere I'm sure. I remember that the strobe and sounder would both receive power with the only terminals being used being the ones for the sounder. Strobe terminals did actually only run the strobe though. The sounder in mine quit working though not too long after I got it The manual full of broken english was entertaining as well, I remember something about attacking the wall with the device 😂
I never received a manual with mine...I don't think. I would love to see the manual to this! 😄 Within minutes of opening this thing up, one of the leads to the piezo came off. Had to solder it back on. I don't use it much, surprised the sounder is still working. Seems similar to the real-life SpectrAlert classics, you need to have the strobe powered in order to have the horn operate. Thanks for viewing and commenting!
+ExitSign250 Interestingly enough, I do have a toy fire truck still sitting around somewhere that sounds somewhat similar to this one (wails at a faster rate, though).
+NewEnglandElevators And hey, maybe what they did is they took out a buzzer from the toy fire truck then stuck a blinking flashlight in and painted it red and called it a product! Lol
Unfortunately, the new Wheelock Exceder series is alarmingly close to this POS! (Except that it at least sounds better than that.) I'm disappointed with Eaton!
These are cheap. I've never encountered them in the field, also I always thought they were a lot smaller than the original spectralert but I guess I was wrong. One more thing, on Amazon and eBay those devices are like $7 bucks. I was going to purchase one but I've decided not to because there're from China but anyways
+ExitSign250 I hope nobody installs this on a real system...at least here in the US! There's another variant of this device that is probably a little smaller than the SpectrAlert. I'm surprised at how large this device is compared to a SpectrAlert, too!
+Claroboy911 Well they're cheap, not the real thing, and can break easily. I would recommend the real thing, the System Sensor Spectralert Classic P2475
+Gary Beltz The other tones I left out in this video intentionally, for the sake of time. My main focus of this video was to go over the alarm itself, and give a brief demo. Not to fear, I plan to make a separate video to demonstrate the different tones (should be soon).
+firealarm2905 I've seen a few people mention "Audible Alarm" in the comments, so your translation is definitely close. I'm pretty surprised that they didn't put "fire" in Chinese.
Interesting. I see those on eBay from time to time. I wonder if these alarm are actually used in Chinese system? If these are used in Chinese systems they must have really crappy systems over there .
+TheElevator&AlarmGeek It wouldn't surprise me if these were used in a Chinese system somewhere. These aren't the greatest devices in the world. Actually, a wire from the piezo actually popped off at one point. I had to re-solder it before I filmed this video. Quality wins here!
My school uses Spectralert Classic on low volume, so it’s not that loud it’s peaceful. But then there’s a Wheelock AS in the hallways on very loud volume
I’m not sure if I say this to you, but I saw a fire alarm just exactly like this in Shenzhen over this past summer, and I actually did a video showing off the horn-strobe itself. Just don’t want to ask, is it OK if I could use your screenshot of this video to show the comparison if you don’t mind that? I wanted to know that first before I can do any actions. Plus, it’s been a while since we have talked. I look forward on hearing back from you soon.
Hey Jim, Glad to hear from you again. I've been really busy myself. Feel free to use the screenshot, just as long as you give me credit for it! Looking forward to see what you use the screenshot for.
+Jaimes Rodriguez Hm, you do have a point there, maybe an upside-down Commander? The reflector in the strobe seems similar to newer Gentex products (not only the commander series, but their speaker strobes as well). As far as I'm aware right now, it's a bootleg of the SpectrAlert.
Hey, I was at KWL Mall yesterday in Beijing, China, and I saw this kind of fire alarm just almost exactly like that except that it is flipped upside down and doesn’t have the letterings on it!
Interesting to know there is one of these that don't have the fire lettering...never thought I would hear of one of these actually being installed somewhere.
NewEnglandElevators Well what a most epic coincidence that you wouldn’t believe! I just saw a fire alarm just EXACTLY like in this video yesterday ago! Yes, I did get a video just showing the device itself... no, it did not go off. Just look out for when I post it up on TH-cam within the next month or two.
I really do not understand why these came about. No one in their right mind will use them in a life saving system, and not many of the dwindling number of fire alarm collectors will buy them.

I bought 2 of these off eBay a while ago, they had LED’s instead of a strobe, energy efficient I guess LOL. Ended up blowing them up with 7,200V, MacBook hard drive got corrupted before I could upload them.
+NewEnglandElevators 声光警報器 (Shēng guāng jǐngbào qì)Just means audible alarm in mandarin. I saw one somewhere in hong kong. When I lived in Japan last year I saw one of those in some store, but the characters mean what they look like kinda. I just know that because I lived in Hong Kong for a while and Sendai in Tokyo.
+alarmtech28 Interesting to see that there's actually one of these installed somewhere, based on your personal experience. Strange to think the "声光警報器" printed on the alarm means "audible alarm" and not "fire" like you would think. Thanks for the input!
I figured this alarm out it's a quick alert that's the name of the alarm its a quick alert that's the name of the alarm is a quick alert and also it's the Spectre alert evil cousin.
I heard that "Quick Alert" was the name of the Simplex predecessor to the True Alert! (Which IIRC, sounds slightly lower-pitched, but very squeal-y at the same time.)
Why you say that is a "bootleg SpectrAlert" horn & strobe? Clearly you can see that are different devices, is not showing any label or mark that suggest imitation of another brand.
+andybub45 Interestingly enough, the Speaker/Strobe on the SpectrAlert line does not have the "fire" lettering on the sides, but only the front. There is no "fire" lettering on the standalone horn version. I point out the classic SpectrAlert in the video as that is what the Chinese device seems to closely resemble.
I had a similar copy but looked more like a SpectrAlert. It sort of worked untill i gave it the send off via a 240v connection. th-cam.com/video/qCFq8p800o8/w-d-xo.html
I highly doubt I'll give this a 120VAC sendoff, but still feels cheap. I find it interesting that there's a version even closer to the original SpectrAlert.
+NewEnglandElevators the standard tornado siren is either a wail or a steady tone. Our city uses a steady tone for a warning and a wail for all clear. So you were right.

And I heard a toy fire truck sound better than this POS!
Thanks for doing my requested video! :D
+S.E.R. Safety (Grant Bansemer) I figured you and a few others wanted to see this, so I was happy to do it! You're welcome, btw!

And no legal document.

don't buy them they are defective
I don't see them
I saw someone review it on Amazon apparently thinking it's a smoke alarm, then complaining that it didn't look the same as in the picture!
