I learn something useful every time I watch these - and I'm reminded how mediocre public school classes were for me. "Why didn't anyone teach me this in school?" My math classes were being given information to accept and regurgitate rather than understand the how or why. But at the end of the day I can't complain too much - we are responsible for ourselves.
Well, hopefully services like Khan Academy will raise the bar. Teaching is tough and a skill not easily acquired. I'm sure there are many teachers who are learning how to teach with Khan. And if none of that is the case, at least students today have this to help them. I sure wish I had had Khan Academy. I'm learning more as an adult than I learned when younger. And, maybe I simply appreciate it more. Sal is a shining star in the world of education, that's for sure!
But from were did the concept of focus and diretrix came about & How did the know that distance from focus to any point in parabolla is equal to perpendicular distance from that point to diretrix. why every video I see is silent on that part
Parabola is a special case where the ratio (eccentricity) of the distances is 1. For an ellipse the ratio is less than 1. For a Hyperbola the ratio is greater than 1. The method shown is typically used to geometrically construct these conic sections with ruler and compass.
The Sliders looked so easy to use. I can't even figure these out. I'm randomly sliding these across to figure it out. can't we do something Simpler?! this takes 15 minutes per problem!

Well said.

Everything is so crystal clear with Khan. Thanks!
"Oh!" Always a good sign.
The most useful 4 mins of my life. Oh my god, thank you, Khan academy 😭😭♥️🙏
As always, this is amazing. Very helpful
You're the best! Best teacher ever!
THANK YOU!!! This is so incredibly clear and straight to the point!
its outstanding i am clear about parabola tysm sir

why every video I see is silent on that part
Distance between Focus and Diretrix is equal because, that's how a parabola is defined.

I already learnt these concepts in my grade11 in Hindustan
Always wanted this :) thank you sal
What are you doing after 8 years 😂

I can't wait to start using these concepts in calculus next semester
I wonder if you did too
appreciable comment!
Thank you you save my time
I'm not the only one who's been re-teaching themself math from scratch with surprisingly much more success in shockingly much less time right? right?
Studying for the FE exam, and yup much faster haha I wish I had this video when I was younger
Sir, I have a question what is the fundamental focus and directrix or parabola? And thanks for the video !!!
Great sir
Your videos all are unique and marvellous!
Thank you🙌🏻👌🏻
Parabola couldn't be made easier than this.:)
Fantastic video!
Trigo ya man🔥🔥
amazing class
Shut up and take all my school fees already. k? thx!
wow, very nice explanation
thankss
just amazing
no matter what vid i watch i dont think ill ever understand this lmfao
Kowalski, analysis
Is directrix just a arbitrary line ? Or where is it drawn?
What is the condition for the directrix how far it must be from a parabola for the distance on P will be equal to distance to the directrix
Hi brother pls cn u tell me which apps u can use in this video
he uses Camtasia Studio
