The crazy thing about JF is even in the short amount of time that we saw him play for the Steelers he improved so much from his time in Chicago, yeah there were still some little hiccups but overall the offense was trending in a good direction with Fields

Averaging less than 20 points a game doesn't sound like the greatest of trends, but okay. Sure. The defense also allowed an average of less than 10 points in every game fields won, and 20+ when he lost, but EVERY game russ played, the defense allowed an average of 24+ points

Sir we scored 37 points in his first game back, what are you talking about?. And fields scores mostly came from within their opponents 50 yard lines. He was hardly ever able to drive down the field. The problem when russ was in was that a lot of penalties called back plays that were touchdowns. The giants game was that same situation, russ had 2 touchdowns called back and should have had a 3rd but Jefferson and russ had some miscommunication on the route and russ missed him.

You think Herbert is elite but Russ was wayyyyy better in his playoff game than Herbert was. Give the man some weapons and/or a run game and things are really going to open up. I definitely don’t think you can put the offense’s side all on him or the team’s regression in general. We collapsed in 2020, our offense fell apart and got completely embarrassed by the Browns in the playoffs and you weren’t calling for Ben’s head. In fact you went into 2021 calling him a top 3 QB. Russ right now is way less limited than 2020/2021 Ben.

I don't know why no one is talking about the fact Russell isn't going to get a big $ contract and neither is Fields. So we could literally bring them both back on a budget. The other and more important topic is tomlins strangle hold on the offense and defense. Tomlin demanded we go run heavy against the Bengals. That's all you need to know. If you're looking for a reason why the offense fell off look no further than "mediocre mike".

Problem was lazy Kevin Colbert. His solution: draft Kenny Pickett on way out.
    Before, O-line was glaring weakness.
Drafted Kendrick Green & gave big money to never been Chuks Okorafor.
During Killer B years when secondary was biggest weakness.
Colbert kept drafting 4th/5th Rd and signing 2nd/3rd stringers in FA to be starting CBs.
Khan Artist already rebuilt O-line ... drafted Frazier, McCormick, Fautanu, Jones, signed Seumalo.
Khan would've rebuilt secondary and won at least 2 SBs in Killer B years.
Lack of QB successor plan is bc of lazy Kevin Colbert, just going thru the motions as he coasted into retirement.

Deke. You can't address the QB position without improving the O-line. It's true for the Steelers, it's true for all teams playing football. It ALL begins and ends there. You can have the best QB in the league but if the O-line is inconsistent in run and pass blocking (like ours is), you'll always be behind the chains.... you'll have your QB running for their life, getting sacked, forced to throw it away, or throwing inaccurate passes. This isn't a "what comes first the chicken or the egg" situation here. Too many times...WAY too many times Wilson didn't have time to go through his progressions and had to throw it away or take a sack. Also...another big problem the Steelers have that isn't discussed is the Steeler Wide Receivers don't work hard enough to get separation. I see this in every game. Look at the game tape. I see other teams' wide receivers get open far, far more often than the Steelers WR. That has to be addressed as much as the O-line problems. If you can't get separation a HOF QB is going to struggle. I predicted a disappointing end to the Steelers season back in the beginning if you read any of the many comments I posted here. I saw these glaring issues in the very beginning like a train about to hit a stalled car on the train tracks. Making the QB position a high priority without addressing the other issues I've outlined here first is like spending money on an expensive paint job for your car when the engine is crap.

Get a second receiver, I'm sure tee Higgins would love to beat up on his old team. Hell, Garret wilson would be cool too. And if Arthur smith wants justin, he can leave and take him with him. Along with a quarterback, we need to adapt with the rest of the NFL. I went back and watched big Ben’s rookie season and this time paid particular attention to when plays broke down and he started slinging it throwing it all over the place. Ken wisenhunt saw big Ben’s talent and started calling more throwing plays. Cowher was pissed off and wanted to stick to the run. This drove Cowher crazy because Ben was going off script. We were winning because Ben was throwing the ball just like today’s NFL and in the line with his talents. When a play would break down and Ben would start playing street ball that’s when we were at our best and winning.. Something we see Lamar and Patrick Mahomes doing today, playing street ball that reminds me of Ben.
Go back and watch Ben’s rookie season and pay attention to how many times we throw the ball, whether ken called it or the play broke down and Ben just slung it. I got all of this from watching Ben’s podcast with Cowher and watching Ben’s rookie season again, I put two and two together. It explains a lot.

I love Big Ben as much as the next guy but the reality is we held on to Ben well past his time. If we’re talking sabotage it was a double whammy because Ben did not want to teach Mason anything when we drafted him. Not saying Mason would’ve been all works but I think as good as Ben was it surely wouldn’t have hurt him.

...lastly....as many experts have noted, Fields doesn't read defenses very well, he doesn't see the field very well, and misses open receivers. He doesn't have the football intelligence Wilson has. Give Wilson a break. With an inconsistent O-line and receivers that don't work hard enough to get open, and add to the fact he only played 11 games in a new system.

Obviously, our opps would want wilson to come back and start. Hes a sack machine after our o line crumbles like a cheap stroller. Fields can scramble, run AND PASS! I just don't understand why people choose wad-up wilson over fields. Id honestly rather watch Fields get sacked all day over wilson. Hes 25 years old amd ambitious, LET THE BOY MAKE PLAYS.

Big Ben also could have helped himself also ! As he got older he didn’t do the things he needed to be in the best shape . He relied too much on thinking he could be old Ben too much. If he would have been more all in during the offseason it might of ended differently for him. Yes they could have helped him more also !

Russ should get another season based on how well he played the first 7 weeks, but he won't. He was injured in Seattle his last year, injured in Denver his first year. Outside of that he's been a good QB, but for both sides I think he should find another team. The last 5 weeks are not on him but the narrative is completely against him right now. Best for him to leave and go to a better offense. Arthur Smith is the problem and that will reveal itself.

All QB’s need a good O-line, good receivers and good running backs on the offense. No QB can win a Super Bowl without that. 😂You can have an elite QB, but if he isn’t surrounded by great players….your not winning a Super Bowl. Justin only played 6 games. The play calling was conservative. This isn’t a one man show. Give Justin two good receivers and another good running back open up the playbook and play to WIN and not just to “not lose”. You won’t know if Justin is “elite” or not until he gets a real chance, not just 6 games. They need to turn him loose, instead of holding him back.
