  • De-influencing is a new trend all over TikTok - it's essentially the rejection of influencer culture and a reminder for creators to build trust with their audience through honesty. While some see it as a contrast to traditional influencer marketing tactics, others view it as another form of influencing. However, it has sparked a conversation about overconsumption and the importance of authenticity in the influencer space.

    De-influencing isn't just a negative review. De-influencing is "yes the new (random trending item) may do what it is supposed to do, but you do not need to own more random unnecessary shit"

      Yess this is definitely de-influencing at its roots 💖 I think some people have blurred it’s lines and made it into another form of influencing - “don’t buy this, buy that”

    I liked it at first but then like most things on tiktok it became backwards ( influencing people to buy another product instead )

      It’s unfortunate that it’s turned out that way :/

    Isn't de-influencing just TikTok-language for a negative review?

      Yess it’s just a new buzz word for what’s been around already, like I mentioned here 06:20 🫶🏻

      It’s for overconsumption and to maintain the state of our dying planet

    That last person was 1000% right. How can someone say "don't buy this, trust me! Buy this!" Negative content has always gotten more views than positive content. People want to talk about that celeb couple with the nasty break-up for longer than that celeb couple that had a beautiful, healthy baby. We naturally want to hear negative news because it makes us feel better.
    That eye shadow didn't change your life and make your crush fall in love with you not because it's $150 and has a specific application/is suited to certain skin tones you didn't bother to learn, it's because this cheaper one MUST be better! Everyone loves a fuck-the-rich mentality until you realize if you are even watching these videos with change in your pocket to drop (or the ability to get a credit card to max out), you ARE the rich.
    It's so manipulative to one month want so desperately to influence people you recommend expensive products like you're Blair Waldorf, then the next month you wanna be woke and act like chronically unbothered Bella Swann. It's all so fake and frankly exhausting. That "viral" moment you discussed did not make a single ripple on my timeline and I'm so grateful for that.
    Waiting for the era of "if you're happy cool. buy stuff if you want to or don't. save money if not being stressed about money in the long run will make you happier" to come around. But I doubt it'll be any time soon.

      This was such a fun comment to read, you articulated it all so well!! Love what you said about negative content, I feel like social media has a habit of hyping up the drama, it’s all I see on my feeds - Maybe I need to start filtering 😂

      @@CampbellStudio aw thanks! I text like I talk and honestly this rant feels excessive in hindsight 😅 I filtered my feed and I don't use tiktok at all and honestly don't regret it for a second! If there's a place you want to go to I recommend following a travel account that posts reels with simple instrumentals, they post a lot and are so soothing!

    many of these video are like :" here what's not working don't waist your money, instead your should buy that " In the end they are still promoting product and to buy stuff and we still cannot say if these are their opinion or a brand deals.
    i wish we had more video that explain. The "drop your skin care routine" is the best exemple many will recommande product that work for them without the knowledge that is work for only them since product is compose of chemical element correpsonding to their issues.

    The thing is that the de-influencing movement started with the main goal of persuading someone they don't need the new (overpriced) trend of the week. Not to promote anything else. The first few de-influencing videos weren't trying to advertise a cheaper option.

    I’ll be critically kind- I feel like you repeated the same statements in your video intentionally (maybe for run time-) but besides that this whole trend is riddled with hypocrisy. They’re doing it in a place of comfort where they don’t feel it’s a risk to lose their sponsorships after making profit from overconsumption. It’s just another attempt to be ‘reliable’ while they’ll continue to receive more PR & accept more sponsorships. Point is i don’t find this genuine except with some

    • @CampbellStudio
      @CampbellStudio  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oops, my sister even told me I repeat myself sometimes in videos, something I’ll be more aware of! This is why I LOVE when people comment, always talking about ideas and theories that didn’t cross my mind🙌🏻 being critically kind is a great suggestion, also feels like it’s not genuine with some cause they’re treating this as another trend to hop on 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @SunFlower-jo2vn

      @@CampbellStudio have to say- I could’ve worded my comment much better so I apologize for that. I wanna add that the first example you posted (I think she started the ‘trend’) felt like a genuine person who wanted to share what she thought was worth it & not- but the more influencers I see, the more I question their legitimacy (that rhymes 🙃)

    • @CampbellStudio
      @CampbellStudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SunFlower-jo2vn yess you’re spot on with that! The first people that start trends always seem to do it from a place of authenticity but as soon as it becomes a trend wave it all becomes a bit numb😅

    Oh give me a break. It’s another trend these “influencers” have hopped on today. Next month, it’ll be something new.
