    • @chevyon37s
      @chevyon37s ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@zachwelcomepoor565 I can see that as you’re introducing air/ exhaust right in front of the prop. With the set up he explained with a surface drive you’ve still got a good bit of space between where the exhaust enters the water and the prop, as well as a surface drive by design has the prop breaking the water’s surface while running so cavitation usually isn’t an issue for them.

    I’ve heard to not remove the governor on a mud motor because if the prop kicks out of the water and it over revolutionizes it can throw the gears out or strip everything out. Does that sound realistic ?

    • @RedBeardsGarage
      @RedBeardsGarage ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is nothing to strip. Just a couple of bearings and a belt. Should work out pretty good in my opinion. May be more prone to break a belt now.

    • @chevyon37s
      @chevyon37s ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on the setup and how it’s propped. And you’re not going to “throw the gears out” or strip anything. You over speed the prop and all you do is cause cavitation.

  • @donduck6195

    Hey red beard, I have two questions for you. #1) have you ever heard of, or do you see any problems associated with using a dirt bike/four-wheeler engine that revs much higher for use in a mud boat. For example, a xr400 engine makes 30+HP and redlines close to 10000rpm. With these 1:1 crank/prop speed, it seems like if you want to go fast, you need lots of RPMs. A lot of the Japanese dirt bikes/four wheeler engines are small and make lots of power at high RPMs. It seems like you can Cruise one at 6,000 RPM all day. #2) I have an old Honda FL250 odyssey. It has the crazy loud 250cc 2-stroke engine. My land is situated close to neighborhood homes. I have thought about putting a 420 / 440 / 459 in it to quiet it down and give me more low in power. Do you think that would be worth it or just an insult to remove the 2stroke? It runs great as it is, just LOUD

I personally would have loved to see a stock dyno pull, teardown hyperlapse, condensed build, followed by 1 dyno pull & new engine numbers, and wrap up the video with Braxton Rapppping it up on the water! just say "links to how-to's in the discription as well as the parts used on this build". Obviously dont need my help running a channel, just my opinion. maybe a few will like this comment to affirm it.
