I enjoyed the movie even if it has flaws. I fear you guys will annihilate it though. Lol. I still don't think Scream has one bad film (Scream 3 is a camp classic imo).

Haha, according to Joseph, someone or something is almost always on some bullshit. I laugh every time you say that phrase as you guys are so honest. Nick, your analogy to being stranded on a raft was so on point. Also, did you guys try something different with the audio recording as I hear Nick clearer on my left speaker and Joseph clearer on my right speaker? Unless I'm tripping on some bullshit as well! Keep these reviews coming.

Probably my favorite review of the movie yet. Maybe because I’m not a fan of the franchise either and am just curious enough to want to know who the killers are. But you gentlemen did such a good job summarizing the key points of the story, which was a bonus!

No shade to Shawn because go each is own but as a Scream fan over the past 25 years (I was 5 when the first one came out but I’ve always kept up and refreshed over the years) this definitely had me extremely underwhelmed. Wasn’t the worst so I don’t hate it but this needs to be the last one!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who finds this franchise a little overrated. The first one was cute tho, I’d love to watch it for the very first time again! The reveal in the first is probably one of the funnest reveals ever!

I always remember the masked killer being called Ghostface but when they started taking about Ghostface Killah i was sitting there thinking... Wu-Tang Forever! ....and yes re-quel is annoying and corny.
Lol I always come to you for a good laugh about the movies I’m watching. The scream movies have always been about social commentary of slasher films with nods to horror films. So it’s small niche to begin so if you don’t care about the socio-commentary you probably won’t like these films. Scream 1 was about the awareness of the slasher genre from the POV of the fans. It turned the expected upside down. Scream 4 took a stab on influencers. How far someone would go to ride your 15-min of fame. Scream ahem 5 was toxity of fandom. How far toxic fans will go when they feel like they can be better than the artists. We seen these fans violently threaten artists/talent -so it’s almost feels like the next extreme step is making it a reality. So i enjoy the socio commentary of where we are now.
Having said that this movie sits in the middle of pack for me. The self-awareness was too distracting where the other films were more subtle in the meta commentary. Though I will say the stabbing were more brutal. But I think it was a reflection of the fandom. The killer or killers (non-spoiler) we’re having fun with the kills and didn’t see the victims as people. So I think that’s why the kills seem more brutal. It’s how toxic fans don’t see the artist/talent as people and they just attack. 2.25/5
I feel uncomfortable with the number of remakes and franchises ... I don't know why they made this .... so many original ideas, scripts etc. The homogenized US film industry. Great breakdown, thank you!

I never mind when Joseph hasn't seen a movie, although I do miss the commentary on hair and make-up!! I saw bits and pieces of Scream and that's it. I'm too wimpy! But with a one out of five, I see I'm not missing anything!

I did not care for the movie. Hate when the killer(s) isn't anyone that has to do with anything. For this to be the last scream movie(supposedly) they had a million ways to go out with a bang like:
Killer is Matthew Lillards kid for revenge,
Drew Barrymore had a kid sister who struggled after the death of her sis,
Nev broken after all the attacks Over 25 years and tries to kill all offspring and slaughters the town,
Dewey snaps and starts killing to get Gayle to come back..........the ideas go on and on!! I'd rather have just watched the first scream again..........ijs. y'all's reviews tickle me tho!! ❤️💋

Yea I went last night and I just felt like while I appreciate the nostalgia I feel like this should be the very last one!!!! I don’t need anymore of them!!!! It started off good but halfway through I started getting kind of bored. And the climax of who the killers were just didn’t really click to me as far as “why” were they the killers! And then the motive just was cheesy for me! Not a horrible movie but definitely don’t need anymore Scream movies!!! And I’m a super fan. I was 5 when the first one came out but by 2000 I was fully watching these movies as a 9 year old and throughout teenage years I stayed updated as my mind matured. So as a fan I was underwhelmed.
I love the Scream franchise so I’m excited for this one 👻
Can’t wait to see what y’all think of this one.

"He's covered in blood like Carry ?" Loving how the reference comes naturally ^^ Not a huge fan of the Scream franchise, I liked this one though, the movie is doing the job.
The new characters were so blah except the younger sister and that one girl who gets oddly aggressive for 30 seconds. The meta commentary commentary thing isn't new anymore. And that Billy hologram ghost hallucination thing made me cackle. And they effing killed Dewey wtf 👀

The whodunnit aspect is what makes these so fun.

The movie was ok for a scream movie. It had good action although the characters were really boring. Sort of repeating itself with the revenge/hereditary subtext.
I haven’t seen a Scream movie except for the first two, I think? I liked them ok. But, I really think this one kinda came out of nowhere. In y’all’s opinion do you think this was done out of greed? I am not a fan of the Halloween movies either. It’s just been so long since they started making the Scream movies. I just remember being at the mall theater and some guy opened the door and yelled the mom is the killer. Laurie Metcalf. She was good in it. But, these just aren’t my kind of movies.
this film reeked. the acting was as awful as it was in halloween kills. the stunts were stupid. the one-liners were dated. it'll probably rank as one of the worst films of the year.

Scream 4 has Emma Roberts, niece of julia Roberts, and a Culkin were the killers. And in this movie, Meg Ryan and Dennis' kid is 1 the killer. I predict if there is a part 5 look for the legacy actor to find the killer. Great review

Your rating was harsh. I saw it and would give it a 6 out of 10. I respect the scenes with Courtney and her ex husband david they seemed to hit home in more ways then 1. It was good popcorn fun. Ive liked all 5 of the series.

I guess you have to be Gen X to love it, which I did. I'm not a Scream fan, but I am a fan of the horror movies I grew up with like Nightmare and Halloween. I thought it was clever to bring up toxic fandom since the main toxic fandom was surrounding the Snyder cut, but God bless them because we needed the Snyder cut. Dennis Quaid's son gave me flash backs of the many times Dennis Quaid played the murderer. It was great! After a hard day we had a great time watching Scream.

This film is not for fans. So many issues with this movie!
'Requel' is not a thing. They Force Awakened Dewey and Gail. Deputy/Sheriff Judy and Son have nothing to do with the original--why were they killed? The just-to-check-off-the-box lesbian poc Randy substitute character added nothing. Nor did her twin. Many more problems, but eff it.
This really took the cake though: The Toxic Fandom Motive completely took me out of the immersion.
Another pointless movie. Was that the point? I don't care. 2/10.
