Corpral Murray was a legend on this show, i watched him on the other seasons and he really helped these young men turn there life around and show them what a mentally strong man looks like. He's the dad every generation z wished they had, he had balls, was tough as nails and had integrity.

You had hard cases in the 50s too who wouldn't do as they were told. Beating worked on most but there were very few that no amount of physical or psychological pain would work. Even the British or most countries' armies save the Soviet Bloc, some African, Asian or Middle Eastern countries who conscripted troops didn't kill conscripts who absolutely refused to cooperate. What can or could you do with them? You can't put a pistol to the back of their head 24/7 forcing them to cooperate. I wonder what they would do with hard cases like that in the 50s. They no doubt had them.
