If you got to grow up anytime in the 50's through the 90's with all the golden classic cars, movies, music & concerts from the greatest pop culture eras ever, YOU were very blessed!
I was 10-14 yrs old when Gene was dominating AM pop radio nationwide. This song, his voice, the drums, just incredible. And also 24 Hours from Tulsa, and Last Exit To Brooklyn...knocked me out.
Just love this song from 1961. All from a very unique singer...Gene Pitney. In fact, I have an old tape cassette of Gene Pitney songs that I play on occasion. His records never get old. Thanks for sharing.
I don't believe that a recording of this caliber could possibly be produced today. His voice had such range and feeling. The musicians, the back-up singers, and the production by Phil Spector's Wall of Sound. Unmatched then, impossible today.
I have been going through my 45s, and all those songs that thrilled me, made me feel all the emotions made my heartbeat like a drum seeing all those songs come into my life again!
Apparently gene had a bad cold when he went into the studio to record this song and had trouble hitting the high notes, but WOW what a brilliant job he did, God bless and thank you for what you left us
I loved Gene Pitney grew up listening and singing to his songs when I got children of my own I drove them crazy playing his records going on holiday I play his songs on the cassette in the car
My older sister gave me a double album with Gene’s Greatest Hits. Love, love his music. After 59 years-still can’t be beat. Thank you sir for your beautiful music. RIP, love you❤️
My older sister's gave me the blessing of knowing his music I'm so,grateful 🎶 ❤she would sing along and she had a beautiful trained voice,as she rocked me to sleep❤
This is the song that put the late and great Gene Pitney on the map one of his greatest wow unbelievable voice. Remember Phil Specter produced this song.
Thank You GOD for Gene Pitney and his incredible Voice, to my brother Mick, thank you for turning me on to this incredible voice.. Love you Always ... SIS... Rest In Peace both of You..
Had this on an EP in the early sixties. Didn't know who Phil Spector was then. Goffin/King if I'm not mistaken. That falsetto at the end is to die for. And those drums! RIP Gene.
IL primo vinile che ho avuto, è che mi ha fatto conoscere Gene Pitney. In Italiano. Ritorna, il retro Ho cara. Ancora oggi sono i miei preferiti Grazie Gene 👍👍👍
You know I'm 66 and I remember my older brother would throw parties at our mom's house and he would play Gene Pitney or the Four Seasons. When I hear thesesongs I start hurting inside because he passed away in 2009 from cancer, but really is I wasn't able to tell him how much I loved him or to say goodbye to him. God I hate it so bad.
Saw him in concert in Western Australia in 1976. He sounded better live than his records a d he congratulated the sound people.. absolutely fantastic voice.
GENE PITNEY 1==THANKS for this recording!!! ""EVERY BREATH I TAKE"" reaching high on the POP SONG CHARTS::SEPTEMBER 1961!!! Notice that VIOLIN climbing higher and higher and the background singers building to the top at the same time!!! SHIRELLES & DRIFTERS & LINDA SCOTT also used a simular ""climbing up higher"" effect as that was the ""TREND"" from 1960 tru early 1963 and then that trend dissapeared like many other ""effects"" in pop music☆☆☆
Im so proud to say my group started out with gene and the geneals i didnt spell it right and we are on a album with him and the embers. Henry hawk hall.
Lyrics: (Dip-dip dooba-bop-bop, dip-dip dooba-bop-bop) I hardly ever thank the stars above For sending me your very precious love You never hear me say a prayer Or thanks to someone way up there Who gave me such a lucky break Oh no, darling Only with ev’ry little breath I take (Dip-dip dooba-bop-bop dip-dip dooba-bop-bop) And every time we have to be apart I hardly ever find you in my heart And when it comes to thinking of The thought of losing all your love I never worry how my heart would ache Oh no, darling Only with ev’ry little breath I take Only with ev’ry little step I make Only with ev’ry little beat of my heart And ev’ry single minute I’m awake (Dip-dip dooba-bop-bop, dip-dip dooba-bop-bop) Oh no, darling Only with ev’ry little breath I take Only with ev’ry little step I make Only with ev’ry little beat of my heart And ev’ry single minute I’m awake Oh-aah, ev’ry little breath I take Ev’ry little step I make Ah, ah, ah, ah, uh, ah Ah, ah, ah, ev’ry little breath I take (Dip-dip dooba-bop-bop, dip-dip dooba-bop-bop)
There are just a handful of truly great Falsetto solo tenor artists. Gene was one of those true greats. He is irreplaceable
I'm soon to be 75 this month and I grew up listening to Gene and other's during that great era. It won't ever be that good again.
Amen !!!!!
You are right today’s music has got no heart to it I love listening to my DVS of the 50 and 60 they can’t be beaten
I agree 200%. That was when music was music!
Agree 200%
Me too, though I’m 69.
If you got to grow up anytime in the 50's through the 90's with all the golden classic cars, movies, music & concerts from the greatest pop culture eras ever, YOU were very blessed!
Born in the late 60's, I know exactly what you mean.

Fabulous song & Gene is the only singer who could do it justice.
He was one of the best.
My wife's favourite singer, we were lucky enough to have shaken hands with Gene.
Amazing voice hearing gene Pitney his songs brings goose pimples ❤❤

Legend!
14 years gone
But GENE PITNEY never forgotten
I agree the music today does not have the power so many of the sixties had. Gene is just a class act. No one to match today.
Seems like Spector had his hands almost everywhere.
@@christopherfranklin4760 Yeah, almost everywhere. When good fruit goods bad.

Lyrics:
(Dip-dip dooba-bop-bop, dip-dip dooba-bop-bop)
I hardly ever thank the stars above
For sending me your very precious love
You never hear me say a prayer
Or thanks to someone way up there
Who gave me such a lucky break
Oh no, darling
Only with ev’ry little breath I take
(Dip-dip dooba-bop-bop dip-dip dooba-bop-bop)
And every time we have to be apart
I hardly ever find you in my heart
And when it comes to thinking of
The thought of losing all your love
I never worry how my heart would ache
Oh no, darling
Only with ev’ry little breath I take
Only with ev’ry little step I make
Only with ev’ry little beat of my heart
And ev’ry single minute I’m awake
(Dip-dip dooba-bop-bop, dip-dip dooba-bop-bop)
Oh no, darling
Only with ev’ry little breath I take
Only with ev’ry little step I make
Only with ev’ry little beat of my heart
And ev’ry single minute I’m awake
Oh-aah, ev’ry little breath I take
Ev’ry little step I make
Ah, ah, ah, ah, uh, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ev’ry little breath I take
(Dip-dip dooba-bop-bop, dip-dip dooba-bop-bop)

Gene Pitney, Bobby Vee and Vinton pushed my juvenile masculinity too far; fell in love too early.
