Another very helpful video. I am surprised at how Trendy I still am. Loved the black dress and black pants with fun top. This is why I shop, wear, give away and start over haha
Thank you so much for the comparisons. I am definitely the person who needs to see them lined up side by side. I greatly appreciate the work it took for you to put this together for us. 💛💚
This was obviously a lot of work. Thank you! It was a great idea, and you put it together well. Very thoughtful and interesting. I learned that my skinny black Ponte pants are dated! 😢 But no worries. I wear mine with a blue and white striped button-down shirt, beige linen blazer from H&M, and chunky loafers. I like it! 👍
Thanks so much for the comment! You can absolutely modernize a piece by how you style it and I love your outfit ideas for your pants. I do something similar with leggings, when I wear them.
2010’s are somewhat back in fashion but it is the stretchy skinny pants fits for me I hope they are never coming back 😂😂😂 thank you again for your video! I love your upbeat presentation ❤
I have got to say this is one of the most helpful videos that you have done!! You explained it so well, and then you had the great visual of all four outfits together so that we could really see the tweaks that were done to make the differences between the outfits being dated and modern. Bravo Nada!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yay! This was so informative and it’s kinda shocking that it’s been FOURTEEN YEARS since those outfits were stylish. As a cold shopper I try to hang onto things a little longer, but I am pleased to report I haven’t worn any of those items in a long time 😊 Thank you Nada for the excellent visuals and for keeping me from dressing frumpy even tho I don’t like to shop! Loved the trendy print top and wide leg black pants outfit ❤
I love your outfit. You look so beautiful. Happiness and joy look good on you. I have a mantra from you" don't dress your age but dress your energy. I love it.
Good morning from London lovely Nada, I really enjoyed this video and I hope you'll make others in this format, very clear and helpful, also scary to think how quickly 14 years passed since 2010, which seems like yesterday! That's when I bought my house and I've only just finished renovating it, which is why I'm finally enjoying getting dressed and thinking about myself and my wardrobe. I'm 58 and I feel better than ever, I've finally lost weight but I've aged a lot in the past year. I suddenly need to be careful what summer tops/dresses/skirts I wear because my knees and arms have got very wrinkly and flabby and for some reason I've suddenly developed varicose veins - not a good look. So actually I'm looking forward to wearing my fall/winter clothes later in the year so I can cover my arms and legs a bit more.
Thank you so much! I so appreciate your comments and your consistent support. It means so much to me! It's hard when things shift and we suddenly look different. I feel that way as well, Fortunately clothes can help us look and feel cute in our current stage. Fall and winter definitely make this easier and you have lots of opportunities to wear fall and winter clothes in London! I am really glad you like this format and will use it again!
Thanks! I am getting the hang of this. I am a classic gal, but I love that purging items that don't work makes my wardrobe seem bigger. Confession! I still have and love my peep-toe booties, but I only wear them inside! I need to practice wearing heels, and these are a comfy, safe, and feel-great way to practice.
I absolutely love your videos! I just found your channel a month ago. One of the best advice that has helped me tremendously so far is gathering a capsule wardrobe from your closet. I never realized how many outfits I could make until all of these clothes were hing together. Now I can also see the gaps and am working to fill them. Thank you so much. Keep those videos coming!
Thank you SO much! This means the world to me. I am so glad that you have found outfit options in your closet. That is the goal!!! I so appreciate the comment and hope you enjoy the rest of my videos!
This topic is very thought provoking! Thank you! I usually go for classics. Analyzing the different styles and trends really helps me to see fashion in a very helpful way! Thank you! ❤
(Melanie here) I would definitely wear all the classic versions. I love those looks. In addition, I noticed that the classic pieces seem to be most figure flattering. For example, the modern black dress has fullness that starts at the waist and goes out which would make me feel "heavier/fatter." Also, the bigger legs on the modern and trendy pants would make my legs look bigger. I have tried some of these styles on and I don't feel as attractive or trim as when I put on the classic styles.
I guess I’m weird, I wore none of those 2010 trends 😂 including the really skinny jeans. I love classics with a modern edge, so much easier and less money to invest in great pieces that stand the test of time
Interesting video and I liked seeing all the comparisons. Yes, I do stick to the classics and they never go out of style. Found it helpful to see examples of dated styles such as "peep toe" shoes which I haven't worn in many years. Being petite at 5ft 2in, there are styles for me that are tried and true (classic). I like to wear sling back black shoes and ankle boots. Thanks for all the work you put into this video.
Thank you so much! I am glad you found the comparisons helpful! I am also petite and we always have to take our proportions into account! I very much appreciate the comment!
While I agree with you in that the less detailed garments last longer, I also think that the truly over-the-top, creative or really unique pieces also last a lot because they skip trends. I think your top is a good example: is fun, colorful and not that trendy (in my opinion) so I wouldn't be able to pinpoint if It is brand new or an old piece from your wardrobe!
That was so helpful but my question is, if the most trendy are out in 5 years, how long will modern last? as I can see that classic is the same classic it also was in 2014.
Trailing in everyones dust so far behind. Spent most of yesterday reoranising clothes and after three goes relatively pleased. Found style has been a problem i did not know i had but makes sense as to why so difficult getting stuff to go with stuff. Have written down three sytle formulas which hopfully will go with my lifestyle and what i like and have had to change back to sporty as one option. Buiders coming back next week so!!!!! All good fun i think!!
Just curious. Has anyone here had their colors ‘done’? I think I’m mostly wearing what complements my skin/hair, although summer changes that a bit, with lighter hair and tan.
I do this for all of my clients and I believe it is the most important think you can do for yourself, even more than understanding your body type. I have a color class coming up if you're interested. You can email me at nada@nadamanley.com.
I love them too! I know that skinnies will be creeping back in pretty soon but the wide legs will still be in style. They might move from being a trend to being more classic but will not be out of style. Thanks for the comment!
@NadaManley I think it's blue. My waist is not defined, and my shoulders and hips measurements are pretty much the same. Any suggestions would be so appreciated.
@@TheKmonta absolutely! I do this all the time with my clients. You can totally update an item by the way that you style it.. try it and see if you like the look.
@@TheKmonta I would say a cropped structured jacket of some sort. It can be a denim jacket or a cropped trench or any waist length jacket. If you don't want to do a jacket, modernize it with your coolest jeans or a pair of leather pants. Something super modern can offset a more dated piece. Hope that helps!
Le style classique reste une valeur sûre, même avec un penchant élisabéthain. Le style tendance est attirante. Toutefois, les chaussures ne semblent in fine pas conçues pour la marche.

Nada, love your content! I’m a little sad that you are focusing on “fashion over 50” now whereas before you were more age-inclusive. Fashion over “40, 50, 60,70”. I get that it probably has to do with branding and algorithms. I’ll keep watching of course, but now I feel uncomfortable recommending your content to my friends. It just feels more awkward since I’m outside your demographic.
Hi! Thanks for the feedback! My audience is primarily over 50. That means over 50, 60, 70, etc. Just trying to keep my intros shorter, but I will definitely mention that again in the future. The only thing that has changed is I focus on over 50 more than over 40 because the majority of the women I speak to and work with are 50+. So appreciate you sharing with your friends!

Those flared jeans look straight out of the 1970's. I think straight legged jeans would probably be more classic.

They definitely look more flared in the flat shot. They are more a wide leg, and a little more classic. A straight would also work. :)
