  • Christy Ring played for the Cork minors in 1938 and made is final senior appearance for the county in 1963. The first hurler to win eight All-Ireland Senior medals he also accumulated eighteen Railway Cup medals as well as numerous national league and Munster titles.
    Christy Ring won fourteen county championship medals with Glen Rovers playing well into his forties.
    When Christy was playing for the minors in the summer of 1938, commentator Michael O’Hehir was making his debut in front of a microphone around the same time. He would be the commentator for all ten of the Senior All Ireland finals that Christy Ring contested, as well as all of the Munster Finals and the Railway Cup matches. Michael O’Hehir has a rich store of memories of the celebrated player.
