Dude! Are you serious?! I had no idea the GameCube had rockin' RPG's. You know.... I also found out something else. I love the RPG genre. Ever since over 20 years ago I watched my then teenage brother playing Final Fantasy X and the game was just.... phenomenal. Up until that point I was more into fighting games, but watching him play Final Fantasy X I was hooked. I was never really good at platform games or stuff like that and that's what I grew up with in the 1980's with the NES and the 1990's with The SNES. It was like... I just was NOT good at those types of games so gaming was a turn off for me. BUUUUUUUT..... when I was introduced to the RPG genre I suddenly loved gaming again. The story lines, the different fighting menus and so on I just couldn't get enough of it. I thought Pokémon was just a kids game. I never really looked into it, and now it's like I found out it's a whole line of RPG's and now I'm intrigued. I'm going to start on the GameBoy games and work my way up. Geeze.... I just had no idea.... Final Fantasy was the only real RPG I really got into, but WOW there's RPG's all over the place that I didn't even know about.
I'd love to get Skies of Arcadia on GameCube or Dreamcast. Wish Sega would HD remaster it for current consoles and pc. Sega has not been good to their Saturn and Dreamcast games. Do you know why Silent Hill or Parasite Eve never got ported/releases on GameCube btw?
I have Skies of Arcadia, and have played it on and off for years. I really struggle with the frequency of battles, and while I know that it was toned down from the Dreamcast version, it's still too much IMO. It's mostly because the battles are quite slow with unskillable animations by the enemies. But I love the story and presentation, and the world is amazing. I will beat it one day.
