Jethro Tull has always had top notch musicians, but Barrie has always been my favorite Tull drummer, as well as one of my top faves in general. Extremely musical with lightning fast hands and feet. He's continued to inspire me to play for over 35 years now.

That orgasmic buildup towards the end of side 2 of TAAB is totally amazing - with that slamming bass drum just driving the whole band forward ... beautiful.

Jonn Bonham se quitò el sombrero al verlo tocar, inclusive dijò que Barrie era el mejor baterista de rock en ese momento.

Loved your video on John Evan. The Tull band was so great, and I still like it. Miss that classic energy though.

You've done it again, my Friend.))) "He met the gazes - observed the spaces - in between - the old men's cackle..." What I liked most about BB was how understated his genius was. Never intrusive or overbearing, always perfectly balanced, and because of his omniscient awareness of everything the band was doing, he seemed to actually direct, not just drive the music. He was the engine room, and the Helmsman, too. I always thought he led the band more than Ian - who was happy to let him so he could just sing, play along, and make more outlandishly goofy moves and quips! "...Be the Entertainer, Ian!! Don't worry - I've got this - Go on - Be it...!!" LOL I want to go on, but time's short right now, so let me just say - Well Done - you've done him proud, Sir! Jeez, how I wish we could sit and talk Tull, and R&R, sharing pints.

Barrie is my main inspiration on drumming...astonishing technique, but always on music's service...huge sense of melody

The performance that B Barlow made in the albums Thick as a Brick and Passion Play are astonished, he was perfect in the wonderful melodies, also he performed an outstanding performance at the Bursting Out live album. He had the same level as J Bonham and N Peart .

The BEST drummer ever IMHO and Ians compositions were perfect to let Barry shine. Like what you said about being part of the composition, i have never heard a drummer be such an integral part of the melody, as if the drums are part of the arrangement of the song. I am soooo glad there are so many others who recognize him and his work.

I watched that video of Jeremy Cohen (although he does okay) it is, in my opinion, not even close to what Barrie is doing on the kit. The double bass drumming was way off, dynamics weren't there and the rolls were hit and miss. Don't get me wrong I applaud his effort as this drumming is far beyond most can handle which is a testament to Barrie's technical bravado and creativity. I have yet to see someone pull it off the way it was performed either in studio or live. I'm sure someone out there can pull it off... anyone??!!

As there are no clear videos of Barrie performing APP , Jeremy was the closest I could find . Is there anyone who could pull off what Barrie did ? I haven’t seen anyone and I’ve seen many a Tull tribute band .

@@classicrockalbumreviews19 APP or TAAB aren't just some pieces to just all of a sudden "play"... it takes much practice to pull off! Not sure if drummers that take their crack at it fully realize that! The only person I know that did was my dad, who took the time and patience to write out TAAB and APP drum parts back in 72 and 73! To this day he still marvels at the drumming!

@@davidsurf930 A good friend of mine, who got to see ELP play MSG in the '70s always said Carl Palmer was THE best. I never saw him play live, and used to argue a bit about it, saying no, it was Barrie Barlow. That is, until YT came along.
After seeing quite a few videos of Palmer playing, both live, and just messing around, I've come to agree with my friend.
