As far as I am concerned, not only do you paint the best sky and seascapes on Utube, but you are the very best teacher too! Thank you for lifting me out of a Pandemic anxiety and starting me on my own joyous watercolour adventures 🙏
Dear Lois, I find more and more when I need inspiration or just want to share my time with an artist that inspires me, I turn to you. The softness and the honesty in your voice calm me and make me want to dive in and strive for the same excellence you share with us. Thank you and please continue to share. I think you have brought me to the edge of excellence I only used to dream of.
Thanks for this. It's interesting that you say 'exercise'. Something always drives me to finish what I start, and in trying to finish, I try for perfection. Of course, what I do is never perfect and so I feel frustrated. I have to work on my mindset. Having difficulty with landscapes or seascapes. So skies are important. Thanks you.
Thank you Lois, another lovely helpful video. Skies and sea are favourites with me too. I love the simplicity with this picture, you left it alone and didnt fiddle. Lol Alioban x
A beautiful skyscape, this is spectacular. I'm a big fan of Scott Swinson's atmospheric skyscape paintings - he loves the free flowing, slightly abstract style too. It's a wonderful technique that looks like it should be easy, but I've tried a few and they are not so easy as they seem. They are great fun to do anyway and learn about how the water, paint and paper behave with the more expressive large brush strokes.
I am new to watercolour andI am learning so much from you. Thank you. I've been a photographer for years and I've often said to people...I don't shoot what I see with my eyes - but what I see with my heart.
Thanks so much Lois for your tutorials. I came out of hospital after severe pneumonia. Still convalesing but your videos have got me started again. So encouraging.
Thanks Jill, finding colours that move us when we use them seems to me to be an important part of finding and connecting with our own unique painting style 🎨💕💐
In searching for loose watercolor artists on TH-cam, I am always drawn to your channel. Your style of painting is so unique and motivating, and you are so generous with explaining your technique. The results are always amazing. I hope to get good enough someday to be able to create something similar. Thanks so much for being an inspiration!
Amazing! I wonder how Michelangelo and other masters actually tipped and tilted the walls and ceilings to get a similar result🤣thank you, Lois, been watching your vids for some time and you definately belong to my favourite art guides on TH-cam. I love your passion, your explorations, your boldness and the paintings as well❤Saunders Waterford CP is my most beloved paper, but it tends to be quite hard to get at times here in the Czech Republic. Possible, though.
I am really enjoying your tutorials and love your loose impressionistic style. I notice you often seem to use student grade paint and brushes but always appear to use 100% cotton paper. Would you say quality paper is an essential element to get the effects in your wonderful paintings?
@@LoisDavidsonArt Thanks for the reply Lois, I have had a go at a couple of your tutorials and I have been pleased with the way they have turned out, even though I have been using 200lb bockingford or W&N cotman. I must invest in some better quality paper and see what difference it makes.
beautiful colours and tonal value.

You have no idea how happy I am that you pronounced Hake Brush correctly. I'm enjoying your freestyle approach.

Another stunning sky! Thank you.
Do you ever stretch your 140 lb paper or just tape it? Nice demo. Very informative. Thank you for sharing your skills.
Love all your free demonstration. Are you taking the paint from the tube? Your washes are so smooth Any tips. My brush work is not as soft
Beautiful Art. Great painting

Yes, I’d be happy to use the cheapest paint and brushes as long as I had my decent quality cotton watercolour paper

Lois, you paint the best skies! Thanks so much. What's kitty's name? LoL! Howdy from Fort Worth!
Thanks! His name is Chya 🐾🐾🐈⬛
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎨🎨🎨
😍😍😍
Благодарю Вас за урок
Can you advise on varnishing watercolours ? So many different voices tell so many rdifferent eplies.
My advice is don’t bother varnishing, simply frame behind glass 🎨
I would add some birds!
I wouldn’t in this sky, for me it would distract from the simple semi abstract style
So relaxing to look at. I am notorious for overworking so this is valuable advice for me. Thank you.
