    I am surprised he said that for light circuit use 16 Amps circuit breaker and didn't mention what thickness of wire needed to use. According to BS standard we should always choose correct circuit breaker related to the wire. 1.5 mm wire need 6A . 2.5 mm wire 16A and so on. it is wrong to install 16 A circuit breaker for 1.5 mm wire.

      Because in Europe, for home installation, the smallest wire used is 2.5mm².

    So in the UK circuit breakers go in series for the whole phase? If the first one trips they all run out of power, what in tarnation is this?

    • @bendiro7138
      @bendiro7138 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. new regulation demands two RCD in the consumer unit and divided in two serial if you like to call it. In case of earth problem, one of the RCD will trip out, for over loading, only one fuse will trip out.

    • @IAmThe_RA
      @IAmThe_RA ปีที่แล้ว

      Those I believe are French RCBOs. One group of RCBOs is protected by an RCD another group protected by another RCD.

    Wow, I'm surprised the UK and other countries are allowed these kind of breaker panels, direct contact to the wall, wires just ran through a hole in the wall, plastic enclosures. Are there a lot of home fires in the uk? I mean I get that they are 230v with less load so less heated conductors when loose, but if something happens its just going to be a melty fiery mess..

    • @Monsieur405
      @Monsieur405 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are circuit breakers. As in, if the load on the circuit exceeds its rating it'll trip. The home will also have a main breaker. So if you're an idiot and start a mig welding school in your lounge room the main breaker will stop the wires getting to hot and frying your house.

    • @benscaper5345
      @benscaper5345 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha, I didn't even notice it was directly screwed onto the wall and not actually an enclosure, per se. This would not fly in Australia, although double-insulated cable through a gyprock would be fine. Had there been a sharp metal edge or it goes outside, non-metallic corrugated pipe would be required. We do however have plastic switchboards, although ours are required to be protected by RCD as well. These days they are built in to the CB in most products.

      There are constant changes in wiring regulations in the UK - for example all new wirings must now be in a metal box! (Also this video is not an example of a typical UK installation). There are many different wiring regulations across Europe and they all have different practises. Any poorly installed electrical wiring generally ends in a melty fiery mess regardless of the countries supply...

      Normally we screw the unit onto a 6mm plywood sheet that is attached to the wall and then then a nice gloss panel for a nice finish, this is for learning. Protected by MCB's it will just trip no fire in 99% of cases

    • @IAmThe_RA

      Most homes in Asia (Southeast Asia especially) have concrete wall instead of wooden wall like you have in most houses in U.S. (not sure about Europe though).

      I’m sure it’s in a different country hence them using 16a for lighting as apposed to a 6amp mcb here in the uk, just a guess... I might be wrong!

    Absolutely shocking video
    (no pun intended)
    This is a good way to burn your house down or worse. You should never add MCBs unless you are trained to know what you are doing. Nothing is mentioned here about testing / RCD protection / correct wiring / voltage (for different countries) and basic EIC regulations.

      @@medmak1494 I am not an electrician. I know basic stuff about causes of fires with bad electrics. I've had to learn when I moved into my house to put right all the bad DIY electrics that were totally unsafe. This video doesn't even mention sealing the panel with fire rated sealant once the wires are installed. This comes under building regs. If a fire were to start in the panel, it needs to be isolated within it and not travel into the wall where it cannot be tackled or even detected.
