    Benchmade now:” let’s make it to 400$ for the exact knife and call it new.”

      Fast forward to 2024, it’s discontinued. Even 270$ is a good price that’s hard to find. All major online dealers have them sold out already. Benchmade introduced the same knife with a 400$ price tag and call it next gen, i.e., benchmade 163. 😂😂😂😂😂

    I have this knife and I like it. It's kind of atypical, but does a lot of things very well and looks really nice. The "problem" with the sheath is caused mainly by the plastic liner. Well, I found that after I took it out, the blade didn't catch anymore. I stained the leather black and, like you, coated it with a water repellent, which hardened it up a bit, and added a dangler. I have a Mora Bushcraft too, and it differs in so many ways and cost about 1/3 the price, but I like them both about equal. Cheers.

    I like survival and bushcraft shows, enough to pick out a knife for myself to take out in the woods. What knife is your go to woods knife?

    Can't really shop around for a Benchmade because they're sold at MAP! Only if this is discontinued will it be at a considerable discount. Well over $234.00 now .

    The other model is Coyote Tan scales and a Kydex sheath. As far as I know, there are no other variants. I just bought this model a couple of months ago in a store-wide sale for $150. I wish they would have had the CT version, but this one isn't bad for what I paid. I did add a piece of shock-cord to the retention strap to keep it out of harms way while deploying the knife and re-sheathing it. Other than that I have not had the "Problem" you reported in the video!

    • @ISLANDOUTDOORS1
      @ISLANDOUTDOORS1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good price for this knife. And that's a good idea using the shock cord. I may have to do that with mine. Thanks for the tip! I like the CT version too, with it's sheath it looks nice also.

    Say Heah, I bought my B M Bushcrafter 162 I bought it when they first came out for $170.00 But mine is a very f
    First Production Run #299 out of 500. Yeah, I did put the Leather Belt Loop that connects to the D-Ring and now I carry it as a Dangler. What a world of difference to carry it as a dangler which I like it alot better as a dangler than carrying it on your hip., I can see the belt strap alot easier it being a little lower. But as far as the knife, Its one of my Fav's. Infact I even like it a little better than my Blind Horse Bushcrafter because its a little longer so I can baton a little larger piece of wood with it. Which in a survival situation I think would help a little more. Buy I really like both. I go lite with either knife. I like them both in a basic Trio, which I add my 2Hawks Double Bit Hatchet or my Warbeast three edge Tomahawk or my Estwing Sportsman as well as my H.B. 17" Agdor Hatchet or even my G.B. Small aForest Axe that I can carry in a Axe Bolster I bought from a fellow on TH-cam, a very nice way to carry a Hatchet, belt knife and the Bacho Laplander, I carry it in muly Gearsling or my Haversack with my other C's. Yeah, for a small knife, its a well made knife that in the right hands a person can survive with it. But I like to at least carry mine in a basic Trio. I also like to multi carry knives, usually a large and small knife, One to cut the big stuff and baton with it then a knife like my B M Bushcrafter 162 for all my fine tasks, a task specific knife.The B M Bushcrafter is a good one. The only thing ai changed with it was I Dangler Carry the Sheath, that's how much so like the knife.,,.

    • @ISLANDOUTDOORS1
      @ISLANDOUTDOORS1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't know I liked a dangler until I tried it. Now I'm hooked! The trio is a good idea, love all your gear. I watched a video of a man going to the woods with a bow saw blade, and made the handle for it in the woods. The thing worked great after he was done!

      I wish I could, but I honestly haven't touched it since I did the video. But it is still one of my favorites. I know you have supported me from the Beginning and I thank you for that. My channel never really took off like I had hoped and I never got any money from TH-cam to put back into it. I gave it a good try though. Take care friend.

      @@ISLANDOUTDOORS1 I fully understand. Your love and respect for Schrade USA and quality knives in general reignited my love and interest in collecting again. I occassionally go back and rewatch your videos for your perspective and review of specific models. Your laid back and casual style with sage advice is pleasant to listen to as well as educational.

    Hi, for bushcraft knives to be used in long trips in nature I rack meals on well-treated 440c steel and fairly easy to sharpen or this S30VN steel longer durable but harder to sharpen? let me know what you think, thanks to Michele.

    • @davepoulin8235

      I'm two years too late and you probably know the answer by now, but this steel is very durable and takes a long time to sharpen

      Does great for processing fish. It's a bit beefy for filletting small fish but still gets the job done and I had no issues. But it's has great edge retention and is beefy enough to cut the heads off fish and the spine of the blade is sharp enough to throw sparks on a ferro rod so it's perfect for scaling too.
