I think we’d all like to see The Exile played in full, if not an entire theatrical performance of The Odyssey. This was amazing, truly the highlight of the night!
Four years ago I was in awe of the melodic brilliance of Odyssey to the west and listened to it over and over again. It is hands down the best album 2016 and dare I say a strong contender even today. I advocated it as such to everyone I know likes this kind of music and to people that might be new to the genre. Rock on!
Literally same, I randomly stumbled upon odyssey, then listened to the rest but for about 2 years after it was all id listen to, showing everyone I knew and to this day I will always say that slice the cake dominate this genre massively, even during lockdown there thrown out this absolute beauty 💜
I listen to it every couple days. I've even uploaded the multi part songs into my editing software to make them seamless. haha. It's one of the best albums I've ever heard. I love all of there work, but this is a masterpiece. I am interested moving forward as a band how things will sound. Especially in terms of them writing music that can be duplicated live. This will change vocals quite a bit, but will be solid.
Seeing Gareth still recording/performing STC vocals in virtually the same set up and atmosphere to write and record in since he was a teen makes me grin hard. 💚 u bro

Damn, you can really hear the work Gareth has put into his voice. To go from the incredible but unsustainable (live at least) shouting in the recordings to the really pretty mix he has going here is seriously impressive. The high notes in the last chorus are really tricky, I have a similar voice type to Gareth and can't figure out how to get up there consistently for the life of me.
OH MY GOD - This is absolutely outstanding! This is the original goodness but still vastly unique and different in its own right. Please, please don't ever stop making music and take care of each other. You guys are insanely talented and you can tell your music touches thousands of us

I remember he said in some article that he recorded the vocals in a way that wouldn’t be replicated live, so I think that’s why he’s taking some liberty with try almost screaming parts
@@meta9440 I was with Gareth for part of the Odyssey to the West vocal writing/recording process and its 110% the case. We're both Sound Engineers and I'll tell you now, he puts so much production magic and subtle trickery techniques into the album/studio work there is no way. But also as a singer he's come so fucking far over the years..
@The Neandethal Its been a while but knowing G and how he is, and how hard the whole thing was, with it being live with the band members in their respective countries, any sort of tuning would be tough anyway. And that's cool
I have to admit I'm also a huge fan of the "almost scream" singing from the album. That being said, that technique would absolutely destroy anyone's vocal chords if doing that for a full set, let alone a tour. I appreciate Gareth performing that for the album though, because those moments are absolutely insane to listen to.
Performance was on point, guys. Shame you couldn't hit a real stage like you had planned, but this was awesome to watch. Hope Jack comes back strong once his thing is done.

Wow! I was a latecomer to the “Slice the Cake” party. Since then you guys have become one of my favorite bands with The Odyssey as one of my top three albums of all-time. Trying excited for you all and support all your old and new stuff!
I've got a mic on order on right now and am going to start doing vocal covers. Might take me a minute to get good enough at screaming and clean singing simultaneously, but I am going to cover this song eventually. This album is honestly one of the greatest pieces of art of any medium or genre to exist.

singing sounds kinda like chris cornell but more powerful, scream/growl range is amazing, and then you add in the spoken word element with some dope vocal improvisation throughout... if this is all you put out, it would be enough to get me through, but like please give us more?
