Sumedha waited for four Asankheya one lakh kappa to become Buddha. Bodhisatva waits for many Asankheya just to become a Bodhisatva.💐😇💐

Now I'm really confused!!! Sermon at the deer park are we talking about THE sermon as in his 1st after enlightenment? "verily Kondanna has realized! verily Kondanna has realized!"
But that text dosen't talk about a wheel made in 6 days?

It is not a formality, it is for your betterment. There is no Baptizing or Circumcising stuff.

Buddhism is a philosophy not a religion. You can apply Buddhist principles to your life everyday as a layperson. There is no worship of any kind. You simply practice mindfulness and meditation in the here and now with your breath. All of the answers are within you. “There is no path to happiness. Happiness is the path”.
If you are seeking formal renunciation to samsara, then becoming a monastic monk is your answer. Look for a Buddhist monastery that you want to practice in.

Unless you want to become a monastic. There’s no need to go through any kind of formal procedure.
But if you insist on doing something as a layperson (at least in Theravada school), you can take the 5 precepts from a monastic. (Through Video is good too).

For the Mahayana/ Vajrayana path , you need to meet an authentic teacher who has actualized the teachings and is part of a transmission lineage. There is much that can’t be written down , but can be expressed directly mind to mind. Just reading is not enough, you need to connect directly and be given teachings and vows. Many non monastics in these traditions have reached enlightenment. Start with an aspiration prayer to meet an authentic teacher who can guide you and serve as an example . Without a doubt , you will meet.
