when you replaced the gas pedal, did you have an error after replacing it with a new one and had to code the new pedal...

No it was straight forward just like for like replacement job. I didn't have to do any faults on the dash

My mk7 golf acceleration pedal feels a bit heavier than usual and as a result the car lacks a bit of power going on inclined roads, would you suggest replacing the pedal and pedal sensor to see if this would make it feel lighter again
