I just picked up a similar find with a "Windjammer" fairing but completely intact with original seat but with, I think, Lester Mag Wheels. It has not been started in over 12 years.
As you don't say how much you paid for it we don't know if you really got yourself a bargain... Having said that, the immediate-logistics approach is what to do when you wanna grab a steal. I found a R60/7 like that. Popped up on our local craiglist of sorts, was less than 25 miles from my place. Price ridiculous even if it didn't run at 1500€. Went to my neighbor, we got into his van and drove to the place where we were the first ones. I bought the bike on sight and even haggled it to 1100€ cash !! (Flashing a wad in front of a seller often does the trick!). We passed two other potential buyers on the way out with their trailer in tow !
Do you mind saying what you paid? I just bought a 74' R75/6 that hasn't run in 5 years for 1.5k. Will be starting the restoration this winter. I'm curious if I'm behind or ahead of the fiscal 8 ball.
Hi guy's, I'm not sure of your names, I'm new to your channel and just subscribed and going straight to the start and you may be able to help me on my most recent journey. This is a great video and the bike a great find. I see your dad at the start and end standing in front of an R75/5. My past experience of Beemers was an R60 and R65 but only for a short time, my late brother was a BM guy. I recently purchase an R75/5 and I paid full price for it may be too much. It appears original with a little patina bar side panels having the stainless type fitted along with some improvements and a few electrical faults I can sort. I wish I had seen your channel before purchasing it, before I investigate one thing concerns me is when I engage the clutch I get a loud clunk and this happens going through the gears, if I release the clutch gently it's not a problem. Maybe you will be able to point me in the right direction to diagnose the fault. Other than this it runs and rides beautifully. My other problem though not sure it is a problem, more likely a privilege is I have a full 4 valve Krauser head, barrel and piston kit in great condition even complete with new gaskets and the problem is will I fit them to the R75 or sell it? Please forgive my long comment I'm from Ireland and we talk a lot here.
@MrSkurnz: Yes, there is a mechanical advance device inside. You pretty much need to disassemble the whole thing to get at it. It could be sticking but I think it's pretty rare as the components are pretty well protected. It may be worth a look though if you have exhausted everything else. Make sure that you don't have any air leaks. That will also cause a high idle. Pay particular attention to the choke assemblies.

Love this channel
In a barn rats love to chew on wire insulation and the wiring harness would be a concern . Glad to see the old gal get some love and attention .
Love the videos
