the moment 2:18 you see his determination. he's ready to give it his all. in the game, Asgore doesn't really wants to fight Frisk. here he's ready to kill. He is the KING of monsters for a reason. He is a boss monster. THE Boss monster, just underestimated.
I've pointed out in other places before, but based on the in-games stated stats - if they are to be taken at face value - Asgore and Toriel are actually both insanely strong. Undyne _the Undying_ has ATK and DEF 99 Asgore and Toriel each have ATK and DEF 80 If you take DT out of the mix, the Dreemurrs are the strongest monsters in the Underground _by far,_ and given Asgore's long life and vast pool of combat experience when combined with his stats... an Asgore fighting seriously would absolutely wipe the floor with every neutral run Frisk to exist.
Camilia: *makes characters bad ass and very strong/ makes them favorite character in series.* Also Camilia: *makes them dead in the next season (and forgotten)*
Asgore’s the king of the monsters - not just because of his leadership abilities, but because of his strength, his combat skills. He’s the one who trained Undyne, for God’s sakes. Among the monsters who have faced off against Betty, he’s without a doubt one of the most capable and dangerous. Which is *exactly* why Betty had to defeat him in a more indirect way - by using her powers and exploiting his past to turn Toriel, someone whom was at one point his absolute closest ally and whose feelings towards him have since become much more mixed, against him. A greatly effective tactic for taking him out of the fight, however monstrous it might be.
Aaaand this is why I want fear as a superpower. You can sense feelings like remorse, guilt and fear, and just create hallucinations and illusions to weaken the person, and possibly kill the enemy teammate. This is greatly supported by Kumu as her loyal pet and the hate vial previously ingested. Now it is an OP move, extremely useful in situations like these.

Revisiting this in preparation for the finale tomorrow. I love this fight so much. It was always hinted in the game that Asgore was a force of nature in combat, but we never really truly saw that. But man, does this capture that feeling! Amazing work again, Cami!

I love this scene. It reminds me how my parents will do anything to help their children but since they fight a lot, sometime a bit abusive and finally they got divorce they can't see eye to eye with each other. Just like the Asgore and Toriel they love each other but once they remembered what cause them pain they won't think twice about hurting one another. The kids screaming is me and my sibling being abuse by my father while mom tries her best to stop him. It made me cry every time I heard them scream cuz I can still feel the pain. That's why this scene is my favorite

The way the fight between asgore, toriel and Bête was done is so impressive from the music to the animation to the storyline it show is so damn well done
Asgore single handedly showing why he's the king and the strongest monster. Admit it, if he weren't so depressed and heartbroken fighting you in the game, he wouldn't have lost to a child with a stick xD He WAS the one who trained Undyne after all (who also destroyed Betty in single combat btw) too bad he wasn't as merciless as Gastor at the end of that fight. Second favourite fight scene! Weakened Betty enough for the bad time trio to stop her escape and finish her off! :D
Honestly, this is one of the few fight in glitchtale that make sense and are well thought out. Wish the story and 80 percent of the fights in the entire series made sense too and didn’t have gaping plot holes :
I like how cami doesn’t make Asgore a complete pushover like a lot of people do,this is the same monster who killed 6 humans and didn’t die in and he is usually considered weak.I love this scene maybe my favorite of the past 2-3 episodes,also Asgore isn’t even wearing armor to protect himself,he is fighting someone who can match up against a level 19 determination soul without armor and he is also winning,that is until Toriel hits him with a very powerful fireball that it looks like it burned threw his skin,but this scene is absolutely amazing and can’t give cami credit for how good this is!
The 6 humans were hardly powerful. The main reason everyone thinks of him as a pushover is because of his kindheartedness, using the fight where he was OBVIOUSLY holding back against you, & the genocide one shot as the primary sources of reference. No one talks about the fact that Undyne admitted that she doesn't even come CLOSE to him (without DETERMINATION being involved) in strength or skill, & the fact that he survived the war against the humans while MANY monsters did not.
@Therandomguyhi I'm not certain if Asgore would've been able to beat Bette outright, but he definitely had an advantage in that she has no real power over him.

I could legitimately create a whole essay about how perfect this fight scene is. Don't get me wrong - there are plenty of pretty fucking great fights in this series, but I would legitimately place this in the top 10 against actual anime, it's so dam good from almost every angle.

I love this scene.
It reminds me how my parents will do anything to help their children but since they fight a lot, sometime a bit abusive and finally they got divorce they can't see eye to eye with each other.
Just like the Asgore and Toriel they love each other but once they remembered what cause them pain they won't think twice about hurting one another.
The kids screaming is me and my sibling being abuse by my father while mom tries her best to stop him.
It made me cry every time I heard them scream cuz I can still feel the pain.
That's why this scene is my favorite
Not to disagree with your relation to this scene, but Asgore & Toriel's dynamic is ENTIRELY one-sided on who is willing to attack who.

Asgore was actually a pretty ok dude in Undertale he let you go back and do whatever if you wanted to instead of just killing you on sight.
it was because he was tired of killing, the weight of the previous 6 kids' deaths weighing on him, and on top of it you canonically beat him then, if you so choose, spare him. he a) probably didnt want to kill anymore, let alone kill yet another child, and b) you showed him mercy and monsters are all about reciprocating kindness thats why in a Neutral Run he offers you his soul to leave and in a regular Pacifist Run he offers to give you a home and a family w/ him and Toriel

The scene with the children is really beautiful. The way you gave them so much emotion with just a few seconds of seeing them, it’s amazing.

The way the fight between asgore, toriel and Bête was done is so impressive from the music to the animation to the storyline it show is so damn well done

Admit it, if he weren't so depressed and heartbroken fighting you in the game, he wouldn't have lost to a child with a stick xD He WAS the one who trained Undyne after all (who also destroyed Betty in single combat btw) too bad he wasn't as merciless as Gastor at the end of that fight. Second favourite fight scene! Weakened Betty enough for the bad time trio to stop her escape and finish her off! :D

I like how cami doesn’t make Asgore a complete pushover like a lot of people do,this is the same monster who killed 6 humans and didn’t die in and he is usually considered weak.I love this scene maybe my favorite of the past 2-3 episodes,also Asgore isn’t even wearing armor to protect himself,he is fighting someone who can match up against a level 19 determination soul without armor and he is also winning,that is until Toriel hits him with a very powerful fireball that it looks like it burned threw his skin,but this scene is absolutely amazing and can’t give cami credit for how good this is!
The 6 humans were hardly powerful.
The main reason everyone thinks of him as a pushover is because of his kindheartedness, using the fight where he was OBVIOUSLY holding back against you, & the genocide one shot as the primary sources of reference.
No one talks about the fact that Undyne admitted that she doesn't even come CLOSE to him (without DETERMINATION being involved) in strength or skill, & the fact that he survived the war against the humans while MANY monsters did not.
@Therandomguyhi I'm not certain if Asgore would've been able to beat Bette outright, but he definitely had an advantage in that she has no real power over him.
