Utterly fascinating technique and video. I almost did not watch the whole thing, but decided to, since I am struggling with a lilac look that I like. I definitely got ideas. I loved that you enjoyed the process too! (I don't dislike the lilacs I've been doing, but they are not have the "heart" that yours do!) Loved it!
Thank you so much, and I hope you have fun trying some new ideas! It really is so important to have fun and keep trying new things. It's too easy to stick to what feels familiar and grow stagnant!
this was totally FUN. I love how you kept saying, just experiment and play - so I did! I like my version and I learned doing it so I can keep improving. thank you.
Thank You!! Have fun! Head over to my instagram (link is on my channel banner), where I posted a painting done in this same way, only I created a grid with masking fluid before painting my lilacs! Totally an experiment for me, but I liked the end results!!
😂😂😂 That is the way it goes sometimes, and good for you to do a little problem solving!! If you haven't had a chance to watch the video, painting an old building, in the second part video I accidentally splattered paint all over my sky!! It was either figure out a way to save it, or start over 😭 Keep painting and problem solving!! Thanks for watching
Wow! This was so fun to watch and it turned out beautifully! I’ve never seen some of the techniques you used. Every time I thought surely you were done, you added something else and made the painting even better. Can’t wait to try this.
That is too too wonderful for words!! Love the style/techniques. I'm a super newbie at wc and my goal is to achieve that. Tfs sharing your time and talent
Love this. And I really like the ink on this painting. Going to try the splatters and the misting. Thank you for the great video. Can you please tell me where you got your spray bottle
Hi Carol! So glad you enjoyed this video! So the first little spray bottle is from Winco, just a cheapo travel spray bottle, the other is called Atelier fine mist water sprayer, I really love it for its delicate spray! You can find them at Cheapjoes.com for around 7-8 dollars. It is a great way to keep your painting from drying out too much if you need more time to work with it without getting it too wet!
Happy to find you tonight. This was a great example of using splatters to create almost the whole painting. And I love splatters anyway in art. I think a lot of artists forget how to "play" in art and they wonder where their sponteity and cutting edge has gone. When I went back to school it seemed the hardest thing our great teacher had to get across was to not get crazy making thinhs perfect. Anyway, thank you for sharing your techniques with us. I appreciated and loved this Painting so much. I'm looking forward to.viewing your other work. I would like to help support your efforts here when I can. Do you have Paypal? Let me know how I can help. Thanks again. All the best. Kelly Phillips
Thank you so much for your very kind and encouraging words! I have so much fun using splatters!!! I do tend to be a bit of a perfectionist but am learning to let go and have fun! I love the phrase, Imperfectly perfect. It's the imperfections that give things character and make things interesting, right? And really, some of the favorite paintings of mine were painted quickly and spontaneously! Also, I do have a PayPal me account, and that is really so very kind of you to offer to help support my channel, I very much appreciate that! I'll put the link below. Thank you! paypal.me/TracyMoadWatercolors?country.x=US&locale.x=en_US
