Get to Know Your Brushes!
มุมมอง 553 หลายเดือนก่อน
Do you ever feel a little frustrated with how little time you have? How do we ever find the time to paint when our time is demanded in so many other places??? That's me nearly every day! In this video I go over some of how I keep "brushed up" in my painting practice so that when I do have time I'm a little less rusty and out of practice. Links for the materials I use in this video are listed be...
Change the Value, Change the Mood
มุมมอง 2569 หลายเดือนก่อน
A sense of place, and a moodiness are things that really draw me to a painting, and that is what I want to achieve in my own work! In this video I demonstrate how changing the values, (as well as the colors), can change the mood of a painting. When we have a bright, sunny painting, there is a full range of value, when the day is overcast, the values come closer together. We can learn a lot by d...
What's your Value?
มุมมอง 6910 หลายเดือนก่อน
Value or light, is one of the most important things to consider when planning your painting (if not THE most)! Without light we don't see form! As we all know, there are an infinite number of different lighting situations; from bright and sunny to dark and stormy....from sunrise to sunset, we as artists get to choose how we want to portray the scene before us, AND...we can change it we want to!...
Gone Fishing/Painting Reflections in Watercolor
มุมมอง 213ปีที่แล้ว
Painting reflections in watercolor is a challenge. In this video I take on the challenge! I really wasn't sure how to approach this one, but I had to start somewhere, so I just started painting not really having much of a plan. There were a few times I felt like throwing in the (paper) towel, but decided to push through those moments. I'm glad I did because even though it really WAS a challenge...

Paint a Polar Bear in Watercolor/PartTwo
มุมมอง 112ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I continue painting the Polar Bear in watercolor. When we think of a Polar Bear we typically think of a white bear, but as you'll see in this watercolor demonstration, the fur is not really "white"! I love painting white subjects for the reason that I can play with reflected color, and that makes for a much more interesting painting! Links for the materials I use in this video are...

How to Paint a Glass Jar Filled with Beautiful Crepe Myrtle Blossoms in Watercolor
มุมมอง 858ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I demonstrate how to paint a glass jar fill with Crepe Myrtle blossoms in watercolor. Don't let painting glass intimidate you, it is a matter of paying close attention to the values, shapes and colors within the jar. I love all that detail, but I also love the loose, splattery , spontaneous slapping down of color in those beautiful blossoms! Links for the materials I use in this v...

Love your work..I have no idea how to start...i'm so scared..looks amazing..x
Thank you! I know what you mean too, that big piece of empty white paper can be terrifying 😂 I think the best place to start, (besides having the best paint, 100% cotton paper and brushes you can afford to have) is really just to have fun playing with the paint, that is the way you get to know it, Don't let fear hold you back!
Как интересно смотреть Как красиво получается 🔥
❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
Hi there, thank you for your beautiful tutorial. Do you maybe have the original picture to trace for me to download please
I am so sorry for just now responding! I haven't found a way to have a download on TH-cam. I'm working on trying to figure this out, so far the only way I know is to send an attachment via email. Otherwise, you could try looking on Pixabay for an image you liked and download and trace from there. They have a ton of royalty free images to choose from! Let me know if you would like me to email the outline 👍
Watched a few tutorials on this subject and yours was the best! Thanks!
ahhh, thanks, I really appreciate that!
Beautiful, thank you for sharing!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Nice painting; thanks for the video. (Believe it's CAR-buh-zol).
Thank you, and you are correct on the pronunciation! 🤭
Utterly fascinating technique and video. I almost did not watch the whole thing, but decided to, since I am struggling with a lilac look that I like. I definitely got ideas. I loved that you enjoyed the process too! (I don't dislike the lilacs I've been doing, but they are not have the "heart" that yours do!) Loved it!
Thank you so much, and I hope you have fun trying some new ideas! It really is so important to have fun and keep trying new things. It's too easy to stick to what feels familiar and grow stagnant!
ONE person (rare!) who knows how to pronounce lilac! 👏 ❤❤❤
Do you make templates to share for those that can’t sketch an elephant!?
I haven't done that as of yet. What you can do however is find a picture you like, (Pixabay has a ton of loyalty free images), Get some tracing paper, use a bright window as a makeshift light box, tape the image to your window, tracing paper over the top, and trace around the image for an outline. Now to transfer it to the watercolor paper: tape the outline to your window, watercolor paper over the top, and lightly trace the outline onto the watercolor paper! This is a great way to practice painting a subject without the added stress of spending a ton of time trying to get the drawing just right!, hope that makes sense!
Beautiful. This is really watercolorpainting. I love it❤
ahhh, thank you!!!! It is such a fun way to paint!
this was totally FUN. I love how you kept saying, just experiment and play - so I did! I like my version and I learned doing it so I can keep improving. thank you.
Glad you had fun! I have to tell myself that ALL the time, keeping it fun is so important!
Can't wait to paint this so so lovely
Toll ❤😊
Wünderschön❤❤❤

thank you!!!
such great help with making darks...thank you ....
So glad you found it helpful!
Wonderful tutorial!
Thank you, glad you liked it!
Love this!! Do you have a link for the Holbein flat brush?
I wish I did! I've looked for these brushes and I can't find them anywhere in the U.S.( I got mine at a Tom Lynch workshop years ago) I'm sure I could find something comparable if I looked, but I just keep grabbing for these for now...until the thing falls apart anyway! I would look for a flat 3/4" synthetic blend that releases paint and water easily, and that has a nice spring to it! I like Princeton for watercolor brushes and use them most of the time. Im kind of particular about the handles so tend toward the wooden ones when shopping for new brushes...personal preference 😉
Royal Talens has Ultramarine Deep in their Van Gogh and Rembrandt lines
Good to know! Ive never tried either of those, but will have to in the future. Thanks for the info!
Good decision on the tree!
Thanks, I'm glad I did it!

😂😂😂 That is the way it goes sometimes, and good for you to do a little problem solving!! If you haven't had a chance to watch the video, painting an old building, in the second part video I accidentally splattered paint all over my sky!! It was either figure out a way to save it, or start over 😭 Keep painting and problem solving!! Thanks for watching
