  • The Best Lobster Cantonese Recipe 广东龙虾长寿面 Easy Chinese Home Cooking for delicious Chinese food step by step.
Impress your family and friends with this gourmet recipe for Chinese New Year or any celebration. Or just treat yourself to this delicious Chinese Lobster Dish. This lobster stir fry Cantonese Style has extra flavor when it's cooked in a wok with lots of wok hei. Wok hei is the carbon seared flavor released when you stir fry with a carbon steel wok.
In this video, I made the Cantonese Lobster With Stir Fried Farkay Noodles. It was a very delicious lobster cooked Cantonese style. The sauce is infused with aromatics, such as ginger, green onions and onions.
When you make this lobster recipe at home, you get twice the lobster and twice the noodles for half the price at a Chinese restaurant. Tip: When you buy lobster at an Asian Supermarket, ask the store worker to clean and cut up your lobster. It will save you a lot of time preparing this dish. I like to order my lobsters cut into large pieces. When I get home, I cut the lobster into bite size pieces.
For this video, I bought my lobster from a Walmart Supercentre. Their lobsters are 2/3 the price of other Asian supermarkets. Not all Walmart sell fresh lobster and other seafood. The Walmart Supercentre Richmond, B.C. has a seafood department that does sell lobsters and other seafood. Recipe is below:

LOBSTER CANTONESE STYLE With E- Fu Noodles 广东龙虾长寿面
2 lobsters (approx. 2 lb. each)
6 to 8 or more tablespoons cornstarch
2 to 3 cups cooking oil (for deep frying)
6 to 10 tablespoons peanut oil (for stir frying)
2 orders rice noodles (or other kinds of noodles)
    1 tablespoon chopped garlic
    1 sliced medium onion
1 tablespoon ginger, sliced or chopped
1/2 to 1 cup chopped green onions
1 to 1 1/2 cups chicken broth or water
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 tablespoon sugar
1 or more tablespoons cornstarch mixed in 1/3 cup water
    PREPPING AND CUTTING UP LOBSTER
See if you can get the lobster cleaned and cut up. Other wise, clean and cut up the lobster by following the instructions at the start of my other video, under Lobster With Chow Mein Noodles.
    COOKING THE LOBSTER
Put cornstarch in a plastic bag. Put lobster pieces inside and shake to coat the lobster pieces. Do this in 2 or 3 batches for more even coating of the cornstarch.
Put 2 to 3 cups cooking oil in a pot or pan. The oil should be heated at medium to high heat. Stick a chopstick into the oil. If there are bubble forming around the chopstick, the oil is ready for deep frying the lobster pieces. For 2 lobsters, deep fry the lobster pieces in 2 to 3 batches. The lobster pieces only need 45 to 60 seconds to cook. Shake off the excess oil from the lobster pieces when they are finished cooking and set aside on paper towels on a plate.
    COOKING THE NOODLES
I'm using Farkay brand noodles for this recipe. You can use other kinds of noodles, such as chow mein noodles or e- fu needles, also known as yee mein noodles.
Bring a pot of boiling water to a boil. Add 3 tablespoons cooking oil and 1 tablespoon cooking oil into the boiling water. Put about 2 large handfuls of noodles into the boiling water for 5 minute or more, depending on the type of noodles. Strain noodles in a strainer.
Stir fry or grill the noodles. Cook noodles to desired crispness.
Put noodles in a large pan or a large serving plate. For soft noodles, boil the noodles without stir frying them.
    To STIR FRY THE SAUCE:
Preheat the wok or frying pan at medium to medium high heat. Add 3 to 5 tablespoons cooking oil. Add chopped garlic, sliced ginger and onions and briefly stir fry. Add the lobster pieces into the wok or pan. Add salt, sugar and light soy sauce. Add 1 to 1 1/2 cups or more of chicken broth or 1 tablespoon chicken soup base in boiling water if you don't have chicken broth. Thicken sauce by adding slurry of cornstarch and water to thicken the sauce. Add more or less cornstarch slurry to reach the desired thickness for the sauce. Add slivered green onions to the sauce just before serving. Make sure the lobster pieces are well coated with the sauce. Pour the lobsters and sauce over the noodles. Enjoy!

Thank you I'm going to make this looks delicious and your right cheeper and feeds more people making at home. Do you ever go to Penny's on Hastings it was my favorite but it's been a few years since I could go. I have since moved to the Okanagan and miss it. Keep making these good wholesome videos ☺️

I have been to Penny's a few times but not in the last few years. I used to go to On Lok's a few doors down a lot more. Now that you mentioned Penny's, I'll have to go check it out again.
I just had dinner at Hoy's Wonton House on Saturday \july 29.. It was their last day after being in business for 40 years.
Thanks for checking out my video.

Walmrt is not cheap enough, near Richmond Public Market I can get some for $10 each, but I really love your cooking!!!!!

My main concern is whether the supplier is reliable. I tend to buy from larger well known outlets like T and T Market and now Walmart.
I'll have to check that place near the Richmond Public Market Thanks for letting me know. Thanks for checking out my video.

@@DanSetoChineseCanadianRootsTV is right cross street of Public market there is one seafood outlet. For years I buy discount seafood such as Crab or Lobster which low as 5 bucks each. They said is safe because it only dead for hours

Your Walmart certainly caters to the local demographics. Fresh salmon head sold there too. 😲
We do not have a fresh seafood section in any GTA-based Walmarts contrary to what the associate Charles claimed.
I am craving ginger scallion lobster now. Need to use a gas stove and wok for optimal restaurant quality results. Thanks for the recipe and helpful instructions. 👍

Looks good! I guess this recipe should work with crayfish ass well, but since crayfish is much smaller I'm sorta afraid to overfry it

    • @DanSetoChineseCanadianRootsTV
      @DanSetoChineseCanadianRootsTV  ปีที่แล้ว

I have never eaten crayfish but I used to cook scampi in a seafood restaurant. You might try the traditional way of cooking without deep frying.
Do a quick stiry fry and take off the crayfish and put on a plate. Don't clean the wok but continue to make the sauce as you see in this video. Then just pour the sauce on the crayfish just before serving. It's more like stir fry prawns.
Let me know if you try this recipe with crayfish. I'll see if I can find some crayfish in my area so I will try and do a video. Thanks for checking out my video.

Hi, i have never had this dish without fermented black beans!!??

    • @DanSetoChineseCanadianRootsTV
      @DanSetoChineseCanadianRootsTV  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

More of a subtle flavor without the fermented black beans. I like it both ways. Sometimes I like it with the cream sauce. Thanks for checking out my video.
