4:44 Side note to new producers: This is something a lot of people fail to mention but when creating melodies, don't just play with the scale's notes at random and find ways for it to blend with the chords' notes which is called "harmonizing"
I've updated FL to 21.2.3 and for some reason I still don't have the option for "generate chord progressions" after clicking the wrench tool while in piano roll.
This is wonderful, I can't wait for your video to show how to use this new workflow using Ghost Notes to create chords (on one track) and melodies on other tracks and then, how to use ghost notes to flesh out an entire composition - main track (chord progression) and supporting tracks (melodies and harmonies)...It's an exciting time to be on FL Studio.....
Man, when I started producing in 2007, I wished I had HALF of what we have now in 2024. It's crazy how far music production has come. It is way easier these days to create a professional sounding track compared to what we had in the early 2010's. I remember getting frustrated at how muddy my otherwise great Dubstep track sounded in 2011 lol. Now everything sounds so crystal clear. Now with this tool, I actually created a decent frame for an uplifting Drum and Bass track. Crazy, crazy how things have changed. I cannot wait to see what the new producers this decade create.
@@dmvtrax645 cubase piano roll is the second best in my opinion combine with fl but generally speaking cubase piano roll is just a different workflow to fl piano roll but is really good and amazing and have a lot of features like fl studio one 😊
@Madkay I agree with you. It's a tool to increase your work flow if you are less experienced or educated on music theory... you still need to produce creatively and arrangement for different genre styles as well as understanding how to mix. Little things right? 😊
Good vid man, after getting the beta installed (just googled it) I was able to start messing with the chord generator. I wish they would allow you to ship the bass notes to another instrument. It does kinda seem like it just throws chords at random. If you do choose "Random" for the timing, you can't just randomly change the seed to try different progressions in the same key. I also don't like how when I want to try a new progression, you have to choose "replace all", which then for some reason deletes everything in the pattern. I had like zero luck coming up with a melody for my progression lol. I'll keep playing around!
I find the note highlighting for scales hardly visible. And it is only on the virtual vertical keyboard, not in the background of the piano roll where you put the notes. Also notes in the piano roll that do not conform to the scale could be colored differently. There is room for improvement. The chord tools in Cubase looks a lot more interesting to me. It's a good start what Image Line are doing. Lets see how they develop this in the future.
Inverterting a chord means a different part of the chord other than the root is in the bass. Moving a note that is in the middle of the chord up an octave is changing the voicing of the chord. Without changing the bass there is no change in the chord inversion.
@@ArcadeFL correct, an inverted chord will not have the root note in the bass but some other part of the chord in it's place. What you did was revoice the chord which also will make it sound different and is a great practice to make chord progressions sound interesting and fresh. Changing the voicing of the chord is inverting the intervals of some or all of the upper parts of the chord but because they still have the same intervalic relationship to the bass (octave equivalence) the chord is not inverted. Still, great content as always.
@@ArcadeFL hi can this chord generator tool work with midi files as well please reply me asap would really appreciate it thanks i liked and subscribed to your video and can it work with demo version or not
I installed 21.3 beta, but chord generation still not showing as an option in piano roll tools. Unlocked (I have the lifetime all-plugin license). Riff machine and all the others show, but not this new feature. Any idea why?
If you install the beta then you need to open the fl studio beta not regular FL Studio version. (So you'll have 2 different FL's installed) Maybe thats the problem? Check the About section in the menu and see which version is showing up.
@@leflyxdvd I haven't installed a beta previously (but tempted to give this a try), but it looks to be a standalone install as you mention (so you'll still have your standard FL 21 application), but I think it shares the config across all installed versions of FL so you shouldn't need to reinstall plugins.
Yo. I h9nestly feel like FL is in an arms race with every other daw/plugin for business now. Lol Scale locks and chord progression generators literally just eliminated my need to use scaler 2.
I know all these tools are a "spectrum" in terms of capabilities etc, starting from actual real instruments, to synths, to midi-roll, to sample libraries and loops ... but generators that predict "good" harmony and melody ... I mean tools will be tools, but there has to be a line in that spectrum somewhere where you have to stop claiming that you made something? The same with AI image generation: if you use photoshop and just paint on a white canvas using brush presets, that is a far cry from telling Dall-E "draw epic landscape with waterfall" ...
Creating a good chord progression is not hard at all but the melodies are a complete different thing. And trying to make one putting notes on the piano roll instead to find the melody playing with a keyboard not helps at all.
I get that this is for absolute beginners, and there's nothing wrong with that. But eventually, you need to learn to transpose the ideas in your head, into your DAW. There's not a single professional musician that just clicks a randomizer button, and waits for something that sounds good.😅
It's good to be FL user with this new tool :)

the update isnt officialy out yet but he got it to test it out we just have to wait i think
You need the Fl Stuido 24 I had that same problem
You can't use your old shorcut to start fl studio. Always use the new shortcut the program creates.

I don't see it in mine it's still down.

Yo I was just on Cubase the other day wishing FL had this feature, awesome showcase vid bro!
Do you think FL's piano roll is better than Cubase? Chords pads/chord track vs FL Studio midi tools?

This is actually an amazing feature that will help when I'm stuck at the early stages of making a song. Excellent breakdown of this great feature!
Been prolly 10 yrs since I’ve tried FL.
Maybe it’s time to come back home after this update.
Does it have piano/guitar voicing options like Cubase?
My melodies are God awful, but this guy is slowly making me wanna get better
just updated needed to refresh my memory
Been waiting on this! Nice. A.I is here.
which vesion of fl studio ? i have 21,1 but no option
Now we have captain cords built in lol
Hello, i dont have nothing Generate chord progression and Graph editor opt+P nothing?
It's a beta version I think
Gotta love 7:08 thru 7:21 ! @Arcade, run with it and make a banger!
When is this update going to be available?
Super sick!

I love this because you still need talent to produce good songs, this is a great tool.
❤sounding superb 😊
how do you change the chords from playing as a piano to a different instrument / sound?
Which version of fl studio comes with chord generator? This is November.
I already use scaler but when the Fl chord generator releases ima try it out

does it come with each version of software , producer , fruity etc ?
You didn't show what the analyse key does. Maybe it could analyse a song and get it's chords
Тоже ждал этого момента
Still no ara 2 with newtone Integration for vocal Pitch editing pn the playlist.. no midi cc 😢 makes me sad
Cause no one would use it buy Melodyne or Auto tune Antares
It doesn't even show up in mine after download and install....the version matches but the new add-ons aren't there.
This is Insane Thankyou Arcade
Wow amazing🎉
arcade bro, give me web site download for Chord Generator
Cool, but when we can try this beta version?
Inverterting a chord means a different part of the chord other than the root is in the bass. Moving a note that is in the middle of the chord up an octave is changing the voicing of the chord. Without changing the bass there is no change in the chord inversion.
I see then taking the middle note octave higher was not the right example. It's always the lowest note (bass note) that moves up right? 👍
