  • In this FL Studio tutorial we'll have a sneek peek at the new AI chord progression tool that is coming in the next version of FL Studio.
    This tool will intelligently generate chords based on the content already in a pattern. If you already have a melody, but just needs some chords to go along with it,
    then this tool will come in very handy. It can also generate chord progressions based on the scale you select. There are also plenty of presets to choose from, and various ways of tweaking the result. You can easily move chords around and generate chord that sound commercial, or more adventurous thanks to the slider on the top.
    If you’re a beginner and trying to learn how to make chords and chord progressions in FL Studio, then this will be very helpful. This is not only helpful to beginners of course, it can be a great tool for generating new ideas, and inspiration, even for seasoned music producers.
    With this new chord progression tool, making chords and chord progressions in FL Studio will be easier than ever before. I’ll be providing a more in-depth beginner tutorial when the final version is out. It’s currently just a beta, so features are likely to be added or changed by then.

      You're welcome. Indeed, definitely helpful for beginners trying to learn chords. AI is everywhere these days and as music producers we'll get forced to embrace it too, like it or not. I think tools like these, with some AI built into them are not the worst. They can actually be quite helpful. Imagine AI-based EQ that can help fix resonant frequencies for exmaple, or help make room in the mix. I'm much more concerned about all those AI tools that can create artificial voices, or even an entire song, video or whatever from scratch.

      @@ciai_6199 I think all producers have mixed feelings about AI. Like it or not, it's here to stay. I don't personally think tools like these are the worst. They are just a little bit "better" than old style generators that wasn't aware of what else was going on in the project. I'm much more concedned about AI that can make a whole song from scratch. Just go to a web site and tell it what it should be about and within seconds it will pump out a finished song. Likewice with AI voices. This has the potential to put a lot of singers, textwriters and producers out of business, as anyone will eventually be able to generate a song with no skill needed. It's difficult enough as it is to make money as a musician these days. What's worse: Studdies have shown that most people don't really care if a song was made by a human or by AI, as long as they like it. That's what really scares me.

    I can understand the apprehension of AI, but it seems that people have built a blind hatred for it. I think in certain contexts in can be beneficial without removing the artistic integrity of the music, like in the case of mixing. And at the end of the day what matters is intent, if this helps an artist achieve their vision more easily then who are we to deny them of that.

    They are probably already thinking about introducing generative Ai music to FL studio. And that will most likely kill that daw eventually.

    • @FireWalkMusic
      @FireWalkMusic  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I remember when FL studio first came out. Nobody took it seriously. At that time I was still making music in MS-DOS based fast tracker 2. There was also something called "Dance Ejay" back then. You could "compile" a song from premade beats, bass, vocals and so on, and no matter what you pressed it would sound pretty good. Everone was using it, even people with no musical knowledge. Mostly just for fun. I remember I hated it! Here I was, a serious musician and people were pumping out this nonsense.
      Eventually I moved on to FL Studio and other daws.
      These days I get a kind of flashback to those days. AI is here to stay, and it's everywhere now. It won't be long until AI will be able to make songs from scratch, that sound just as anything a producer would have come up with. Eventually, anyone can just log on to a web site and ell an AI that they want a song about this or that, and within seconds it will generate the song. That's what really scares me.
      I think it scares Image-Line and other DAW creators too. AI based tools like this chord generator, EQ tools with AI built in etc can certainly be helpful to a producer, so that's not the worst. I'm more concerned about people eventually beeing able to just type in what they want a song to be about, and within seconds the song will be made by AI, and it will sound pretty damn good too.

    • @cottoo1
      @cottoo1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@FireWalkMusic yes I remember ejay. I was using magix music maker at that time. You are right that daw developers might be scared too. Plugin developers, sound libraries creators, sample websites like splice - they are also in danger. Even music hardware companies. All those studio monitors, midi controllers etc. Demand for that would drop drastically….

      You're not the only one. I'm really worried about the future of musicians, songwriters, and singers. AI is indeed everywhere these days, and there are already websites that allow you to type in what a song should be about, and the genre, and within seconds it will pump out a pretty decent-sounding track. I think DAW developers are just as worried about this as musicians and producers are, and rightly so! As the old saying goes: If you can't beat them, join them. I think they have no choice but to incorporate more AI tools.

    • @strixcz
      @strixcz 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@FireWalkMusic In the end, it might actually be a good thing - I mean AI can definitely learn to create pop/mainstream music which often sounds as if created by AI already (most artists on typical radios being hard to distinguish from one another because they just imitate what's trending at the moment) 😅 Same with generic music for infommercials, podcast backgrounds etc... AI will lead to this kind of (low-effort) creativity losing value which might help the truly unique and original musicians to stand out. I mean, until I hear a song composed by AI that would have beautiful dynamics, including slow gradation, use of silence, moments that would run shivers down my spine etc., I'm not worried at all 🙃

    • @FireWalkMusic
      @FireWalkMusic  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I think they have no choice but to gradually build in more AI tools. AI is everywhere now, and there are already websites that allow you to type in what a song should be about, and the genre, and within seconds it will pump out a pretty decent-sounding song, made entirely by AI. In a year or two, this will probably sound just as good as anything made by you or me, unfortunately.. I really don't like it either! It's hard enough as it is to make a living as a musician these days. When anyone with no musical background whatsoever can make a pretty good-sounding track in seconds, it will be pretty bleak looking not only for producers but DAW developers like Image-Line too. Like it or not, AI is everywhere these days, and as the old saying goes: If you can't beat them, join them. I think that's what they're trying to doo, by gradually incorporating more AI tools.
      AI can now also make images and video from scratch. We recently had a long strike in Hollywood, as actors fear AI will take over their jobs. Now I fear the same for musicians, textwriters, and singers. Hopefully there will be some regulation in place to deal with this, making it more difficult for anyone to flood the scene with AI-generated music. It is after all generated based on what has previously been made by real people so there might be some copyright issues looming there.

    • @strixcz
      @strixcz 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You mean you want to drop an excellent DAW just because they add some features that you don't want to use? That's just silly. All the features you've bought it for are still going to work as well as ever. Tools like these, they're merely optional and it's up to you whether you decide to create everything from scratch or let FL Studio assist you with certain tasks (just like with many other features you're probably already using) 😉

      @strixcz หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@007cambon If you're doing music to compete with others (doesn't really matter if it's other people or AI) than you've missed the point. Very few musicians can make a living with music - this has always been true, long before AI. Your best bet (if you actually _enjoy_ making music - because that's the only sensible reason to do it) is having a day job and making music in your free time - if you're good at it, it may become a side job. And if you're _really_ good at it (and a bit lucky), you might actually make a living with it one day. Again, that's how it's always been. AI might make it a little harder than before but ultimately it's still all about creating something unique that will click with other people so that they'll want to hear more of _your_ music (or see you in a live show - which is the main source of income for musicians these days anyway - because they like your personality). People who don't really care about music that much and only want some background noise - sure, they will probably embrace AI music. But they are not your target audience. Do the music for yourself. And for people who care about music and musicians.

      Don't shoot the messenger. This is an FL Studio channel. I'm just posting FL Studio content, and this is the newest from FL Studio. Like it or not.This chord tool is not that different from already existing tools. The AI part of it has more to do with the fact that it can generate chords that fit what you already have in a pattern. I'm much more afraid of services like Suno etc, which can use AI to create a full song in seconds. I don't personally endorse AI in music. Personally, I don't really like it, as I think it can easily go too far too fast, and basically put people out of business (producers, songwriters, and singers) which is not good. But what can we do? AI is here to stay. As a fellow producer, I wish it wasn't, but it is. It takes me at least a week to properly finish a song, and now there are people spewing out 50 songs a week, all made by AI. All we can do is keep making the best music we can, and hope that people will prefer real music over AI-made music.
