I spent most of my day off yesterday playing this and must say it’s pretty fun early on but gets more and more tedious as it goes on but still feels rewarding to reach and explore a new area.
Turn off auto collect for leafs, broken wood and scrap metal. It will make collecting rarer stuff easier. Also, the wrench is great as it breaks 2 things at once.
This game might be for me as I got tired of other similar games like Last Day on Earth with its heavy monetary and stamina system, but sucks that it doesn't have sandbox mode where I can play infinitely without story.
played it for about 5 hours and I am still in the "cant get enough of it" phase. great game so far. i like the grinding and feel its a very relaxing experience :)
@@Reel___ I guess it was the same for me. After some time of playing I felt less entertained / progress was getting slower and needed more time of doing things over and over again. "Problem" is that there are also so many good games as a competition that aroused my interest / where I want to invest my time :)

tbh you lost me at "with most of [the enemies] being beatable on the very first attempt", like that's a mark against it. I'm, personally, sick of this trend of combat not being good unless you have to beat your head against it over and over again, not saying this game's combat is good (haven't played it) it just bothers me is all.
I'm really enjoying this game. However, all of your criticisms are valid. I can't help but feel there is so much potential in how large they made the map with so much to explore but falls short of interesting and diverse gameplay. But for me, I'm so desperate to explore games that it's scratched my itch for them. Having Fun, and I look forward to what else this team releases in the future.
I had the same thing happen to me. I think this game is too big for it's own good. You max out your tech progression tree less than halfway into exploring the game world, and lose motivation to kill and loot things because of it, making exploration much less interesting the further you go. I did enjoy the first 30 or so hours I dumped into this game, but I'm not sure I'd rush back to play it again.
This game is great for mobile when you need to waste an hour or so, but i wouldnt waste my time playing this on a console or PC, way too many good games to play a grindfest of a game with no real combat or story.

Does this game have a hunger and thirst system where you have to constantly find things to eat and water to drink? Also, do you lose everything and have to restart from the beginning if you die? I was thinking of buying the iOS version when there is a price drop since it is too expensive but your great review made me want to skip it altogether.
@@PlayGames_PG Oh nice. I have never found a survival game I like because there is just too much to keep track of and multitask. At least for this game, it looks like it is easier to play since you have less things to worry about (hunger and water bar for example). But I do see the game as one of those idle games where you fight weak enemies to get stronger so you can fight stronger enemies and so on which is quite repetitive. It feels like the zombie survival genre is a facade to hide the real thing.
Try The Forest, that is one that manages to balance it well and the end game is attainable. Valheim is worth a look too, How to Survive 2 also isn't so bad either.

When you think about it if it is supposed to be a survival game you actually want food and water meters some even suggest/like it when you have different calorie needs because it's not easy to survive. Maybe think of a game you loved and then play more games like that, for me I love Zombie games so ofc my fav games are things like 7d2d or dying light dead island etc.

Pretty much you need to put your points into xp. You level up so fast this way. Also, don't waste your time on that crowbar . Unlock and use a wrench instead. It hits 3 objects at a time. Overall, it's a pretty fun game. Way better than watching the paint dry.
it looks like a mobile game, in south america is very expensive so I'd rather buy project zomboid or something, they should localize the prices to sell more.

Started it on mobile and looks like an OK time waster while taking a dump. I just wish combat had at least some semblance of depth but oh well, compared to all the garbage on mobile this looks fine in comparison
That would be me. Loved the game and the dlc. The only complaint I have, is that it can be a pain to navigate. Like trying to go to your local shop, but having to get there via Australia, rather than heading straight there.
Maybe if we add fighting with lots to grinding in harvest moon then we have Dysmantle. Rune factory may also be a good example but the simplicity of this zombie game made it more fun.

I can see dlcs "destroyed" well planned maingame progression/unlocking/limitations a bit - its happening in 99% of games with dlcs. graphics even for 3d and low poly isnt eye killing. map, UI Combat is as easy as in 99% of the games. Difficulty is for 4-10 years old kid, but again 90% of games are like this nowadays. After playing this, when i play something else im having weird feeling that i cannot destroy environment ;-s Try Mount and Blade Warband PROPHESY of PENDOR mod - if U havent yet. 10 years long design with love.
Zomboid is a far more ambitious game, I hope when they end up finishing it they make the controls and menus more user friendly, that's the only thing holding it back. Thanks for watching.

Im having more fun with this game than i did with Final Fantasy 16.

I've played so many of these games lately it's hard to remember. But I think the food was linked to your health bar not some food/drink bar.

If they can translate the controls and modernise the menu's zomboid would kill it on everything, just needs a lot of quality of life adjustments.

Zomboid is better if you can tolerate the terrible UI and controls, this had potential but was far too mundane to keep players coming back.

it certainly passes the time, not much else can be said about it though.

Nothing like Darkwood really, doesn't have the same tense atmosphere and it more of a grind fest.

Is Dysmantle a waste of time? Absolutely...but it's an enjoyable waste of time.
