Love the vulnerability, thanks for sharing, just remember everyone faces demons in their lives and go through traumatic things. My oldest daughter passed away 2 years ago, and I struggle with anxiety and depression 🫥 Thanks for sharing ❤

I know it's not easy opening up, but appreciate you getting so vulnerable with us & sharing your story. Addictions are the real deal. I've been there myself. Glad everything worked out for you. Thanks for the recs!

Proud of you for opening up & making this video discussing your own struggles. I know that's not an easy thing to do. You & I have talked about addiction many times and the tolls it can take. Your dad's totally right. It's there everyday. I'm sorry you're not able to run at the moment. I do know how much you love it. I think I recommended Rush back when we first started chatting.
Great movie recommendations. A few I haven't heard of and will definitely be looking into.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Love you bud!

Hey Bob, I rarely comment, but I watch a lot of your videos and love your channel and content. What a great way to take something that was so difficult for you, and tie it into something more positive, and make it relevant to your current interests and content. This must have been an intimidating video to make. Even for someone who is fairly comfortable getting personal, doing so on such a public forum couldn’t have been easy. Thanks for sharing.

Hey thanks for taking the time to comment. It’s great to hear from people that watch but don’t always comment. It means a lot. And you nailed it on the head with your description of it being intimidating to make this kind of video. I definitely went back and forth for a bit about wether to post it or not. Thanks again for your comment.

Great video and massive respect (and thanks !) for posting.
I could write an essay response to this but I'm going to rein myself in because this is not the ideal time or format :)
Congratulations and respect for your wisdom and self-control !

Thanks for sharing your story man! It's a hard thing to open up and put yourself out there like this, but it's a great thing to do. Too many keep things bottled up for far too long and it just gets worse. I think sharing like this can be a healing thing for you, but it also can help others out there as well. There are so many people out there keeping quiet about their struggles and I think when they see someone like you opening up they can realize they are not alone and it is OK to reach out for help and start to talk about it.

Very insightful video Bob. I lost my mum to alcoholism so your story resonates with me very much. Thanks for sharing. One of my favourite films about addiction is Leaving Las Vegas. Incredible performances from both Nicholas Cage and Elisabeth Shue, and shows how destructive alcohol can be.

Great video. Opening up is a hard thing to do. Four Good Days was such a great movie. I was really surprised by it. You may have already but I'd always recommend Requiem for a Dream, A Good Person, and Beautiful Boy for some really good addiction movies.

Thanks for being brave and sharing your Story. Gambling addiction runs high in my family as well as drinking. I almost ran down that path for both but the addiction switched to other ways such as a time I had with Xanax and spending money on things I coudn't afford when I was depressed to cheer me up. Which the feeling for the last one is still there and I do struggle with it and will the rest of my life honestly. I believe your the first I seen talk about "Four Good Days' it's a shame it flew under the radar outside of the song getting best song Oscar nom. It's a really good powerful Movie and disapointed neither Mila or Glenn didn't get nominated but it seemed like a lot of critics called it Oscar bait for them both and they didn't understand the Movie's story which is a shame like you said it's a true Story.

Thanks a lot. I’m glad to hear you liked ‘Four Good Days’. It was such a powerful movie. I can’t wait to show my dad that one. The pills I can also relate to. I had a very short stint with Vicodin. I had to down prescriptions in the past because of it. I appreciate you sharing.

Nice video, Bob. My father was an alcoholic, so I can relate to addictions.
Luckily I'm not an addict, when it comes to alcohol. I was super shy as a kid but gradually grew out of that but do wish I had a more outgoing personality.
I used to get drunk a lot 30 years ago, when I was in my 20's but never smoked or did any hard drugs. A Coors Light 15 pack can last me 3 weeks, now a days.
I'm going to check out 4 Good Days and Smashed out of the movies you suggested, that I haven't seen. Out of the movies I have watched, I think Uncut Gems is my favorite. I had to quit gambling on games myself after about 6 months because I lost way too much money and it pissed me off. Luckily it never got to the point where I was worrying about bookies, though. Now it's just Fantasy Baseball and Football, with little to no money involved.

@bobsblurays I did enjoy Smashed, but Four Good Days was rough. Probably a one-time watch. The acting was great, but I wanted to strangle the addicted girl, Mila Kunis character.

Cool stuff man. Most of these films I've never even heard of, but I've not really kept up with addiction films from the last 15-20 years or so. 16 years sober here. My personal favorite addiction film is an old Michael Keaton movie called "Clean and Sober" from 1988. It is hands-down the best addiction film I've ever seen... and it hit really hard with me when I was younger. I think Michael Keaton delivered probably the best performance of his career in that film. So if you're a big fan of addiction films and you've never seen Clean and Sober, you definitely should check it out. I see it's available on streaming, but I don't know if it ever even got a blu ray release.

    • @bobsblurays

Congratulations on 16 years sober man. That’s amazing! I have seen Clean & Sober. I actually watched it for the first time a few months ago. I thought it was great. It unfortunately hasn’t ever gotten a Blu-ray release. Pretty emotional stuff toward the end of that movie. I really hope it gets a Blu-ray someday. Thanks for commenting and sharing.

I'm sorry about you're alcohol addiction Bob. Those are powerful movies My addiction is money and spending good thing I'm still single no girlfriend wife or kids my physical media is all that and more LOL but seriously and on top of that I've had some bad mental health issues to deal with along with one of my little dogs missing from my parents home just 20 minutes away from where I live and I live in South East Asia in the country side so finding a dog you may have who just wondered away is almost impossible to find it breaks my heart but I still have other dogs who need me so I'll find some way to carry on and stay strong 💪💪

I enjoy your channel and when there are things that accumulate that I want to express it I do it and I hope you are not offended. When u said not all whites are one thing and not all black are criminals that was a troublesome statement and I think u should explore it further
Regarding another matter, as a survivor of rape I find it horrifying how much u talk about Irreversible and movies that show this subject. If you or your mother or your sibling or father were ever raped I don't think u would find this as you seemingly find it now. I ask you to apologize for the way you have talked about those scenes there is something voyeuristic and inappropriate about you discussing those things. Are you a rape survivor? I respectfully ask that you stop talking about those movies on your channel and that u never discuss the Irreversible scene again on your or any other channel. I have a lot more to say as well because I thought I'd confront you on that. Also the way u say that u hate being around Fish when he is drunk and is extremely judgy. Just because people hated being around you when you were drunk doesn't mean you have the right to control and hate on other similar behaviors especially if they don't behave as hateable as you were while drinking.
Rape- wise I'd strongly suggest you drop those words and movies from your discussions. You can enjoy whatever u want but that stuff is triggering as a discussion and what u enjoy privately has no place to be aired if it triggers. Thanks

    • @bobsblurays
      @bobsblurays  หลายเดือนก่อน

If you’re so easily offended by my channel then don’t watch. You make dumb comments asking me about Terrell. And I’ll talk about whatever movies I want to talk about. I’m sorry you had to deal with sexual assault. Please don’t tell me what to do with my channel. I will talk about and discuss whatever movies I feel like discussing. If you don’t like it move on. Sick and tired of your comments anyways. I can’t tell if you’re just trolling or not. At this point I don’t care.
