- Here a little video on how to remove scratches (and the coating) and install a glare free screen protector.
In this case the screen of a F01
Custom cut anti glare screen protector can be bought here: lexerd.com/
My A5 has the scratches and smudges you showed at the beginning and it's annoying and also thought about putting on a screen protector. Good job on restoring yours and thanks for showing it can be done.
Did you fix yours, I have the same issue with my Audi A5 screen, would rather try do this with out taking it all apart
I also have an A5 with this issue. I would appreciate your input if you have attempted a fix.
I just bought this stuff and my monitor in my bmw looked exactly the same. This shit is incredible. My monitor looks assembly line brand new! And that polish has my inside shining like I waxed it! I 100% recommend this stuff, will save you 100s! And I didn’t use my buffer. I started with No. 3 and in 2 minutes, it was done! I kid you not! Anybody having this problem, buy it! You will not be disappointed!
Ik zag op het einde van het filmpje pas dat je waarschijnlijk ook een Nederlander bent. Als dat zo is dan is je Engels uitstekend! Mijn scherm heeft hetzelfde probleem. Alleen ik durf er niet aan te beginnen. Respect 👍
Gewoon doen :)
Great resaults....
Tip: to get 💯% dust free resaults when applying a screen protector, i always apply a 3" blue painter's tape across the screen before im ready to apply the screen protector. This method, any micro dust will be stuck and be lifted when removing the tape as u rightaway apply the screen protector giving you perfect dust free resaults!
The other day I found a glaring spot on the screen of my F01. I took some fabric and tried to wipe it off... and the spot got bigger. Turned out it wasnt dirt but damage in the anti-glare coating. So... I will fix it the way you did. Thanks for the video mate!
Same I thought i could clean mine with a towel and i just ended up making it waaay dirter😂🤷♂️
Seriously thank you so much for this. Was about to spend $200+ on ebay for a used screen thinking the scratches were permanent
Keep in mind that those screen comes with 2 coatings.. 1 first layer and 2nd layer. 2nd layer is really hard to remove. I recommend to just remove the first layer as its only that part get scratched. Layer 2 is deeper and will be pain in the ass to remove.
If you polish layer 1.. should take 20 mins and polish to abbressive and long, you will start notice a hole in the screen begins to be visible.. thats layer 2. Try not do to abressive and long. If you start to fine polish to much... layer 2 will approche.
Is this possible to do without removing the screen?
Thank you for your awesome job on it and thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. Am gonna try to do this with my CIC Screen because it has a scratch on it but not deep.
Do you think this procedure would work on a VW Golf Vitual Cockpit display? Got a similar looking scratch from the previous owner. Just a bit scared that the screen technology is different…but it seems to be the same judging by the looks of it. Anyway great tutorial, thanks a lot!
Hey, did you apply your VW, if you did, what about result?
@@yusufkagduman3167 I did it in an unprofessional way…. I took hand disinfecting wipes and basically rubbed the anti glare film off. Took a lot of effort but it worked out at the end. I didn’t even remove the display for it
I have the same problem with my used X3, thanks so much for your Guide!
Fantastic job I have the same problem on my Audi virtual cockpit. I really need to get this going. Thanks for the video!
Do you have the coating wearing off or a few scratches? Mine has some scratches and I’m trying to figure out how to fix that
I just ordered some of this stuff from amazon. I have some tiny scratches on my screen. Will this work if the screen is touchscreen as well?
Yes it will
Is it possible to do while leaving the screen in the car?
Sure, but it only takes 2 min to take out.......
@@BMWorks_NL I took the screen out, it was like 5 mins indeed. Looks so much better now. Might even buy a screen protector for the glare. Thanks for the video!
Hi bro... where is the polarizer located on my bmw E90 2011? front Idrive screen or behind? right now I can see@ read all noticed or warning but it becomes blur soon...so I need to replace polarizer before it becomes completely blank😅
Hey waar heb je die spullen gehaald om het scherm mee te polijsten ?
How does it look with the sun ? I found you did a great job but alot of people complain that the sun reflect on it, what do you think ?
As you can see with screen protector there is no glare in the sun
great video but was wondering what size you ordered from Lexerd as I would like to have it before I start pulling my car apart
Daniel Chipperfield If you go to their site you can select the car and screen size 😃
Many thanks Homerass , I will be attempting this in the near future
Thanks for the video I scratched mine all the way.... it makes me so sick when i look at it is there any alternative of Novus that i can get from europe?
Andrey Dimitrov Amazon.de sells it
Thanks
Hello guys ,i tried to polish some scratches on my digital instrument cluster and now when the sun is beating in the screen i have some purple haze ,will a screen protector hide that or i need to polish it ???PLS help
Hard to say from here. I don’t know what coating the cluster has compared to the nav screen
@@Edtheman-q8f i think its a matte coating ,bmw g30
How did you buff the old coating off? With a power tool or just wipe with the #1 cleaner and the cloth? I guess you used #3, #2 and then #1 with the power tool?
Matt Denson as in the video. Started with cloth and ended with little orbital
@@BMWorks_NL Thanks for the video and the response. I wish I saw your response earlier though. I used the soft buffing pad with a power tool and number 2 until everything came off. There's a sweet spot for the speed. You do not want to go too fast or too slow. Too fast = burns the plastic, too slow = takes forever. Novus recommends not more than 1000 rpm. But if you use a power tool, it gets messy. I ended up stripping the screen off the metal and plastic casing to get the excess Novus #2. I guess your method is better. Thanks a lot. Your video helped me save my screen. If I could, I would buy you a beer.
Hey there thanks a lot, I just bought a new to me 750i with this issue. just subscribed to your channel.
Did you fix your problem on the display
Can just polish it without take it off?
What do you think ;) how will you get into the corners??
Hi BMWorks,
Ik heb recent een BMW 530D gekocht met het zelfde euvel (F11) kunt u dit ook oplossen in opdracht? Ik hoor zeer graag van u. Mvg Rutger
Dat kan uiteraard, gelijk CarPlay inbouwen? Bmworks.info
Hello, is it usable after polishing without new antiglare glass? Or is it too glossy on daylight??
Lfbo555 hi! You can use it as is but you’ll start noticing that in bright daylight you can hardly see anything
Just about the do this for my F56 Cooper S screen as it looks horrendous. I don’t have any buffer tools, so can you easily get the same results from hand polishing? Mine looks like I just need to remove the coating... Start with 2 or 3?
Start with 2. It is very good to do by hand
Lexerd doesn't offer a precut screen protector for the unit in this video.

2015 is the same ;)
Unfortunately, Lexerd doesn't make a pre-cut screen protector for the 16:9 wide screen navigation monitor found in the E38 7-Series, E39 5-Series, E46 3-Series. or the E53 X5.
Is it ok to polish only with number 3, because i like the result on 3:18 and i dont want to waste money for full set of the three bottles?
I used 2 more then 3.
@@BMWorks_NL So I can reach the result of 3:18 only with 2 ? (Thanks in advance)
@@IvanIvan011 If you want the same results you need two and three
@@BMWorks_NL Thank you!
How deep was the scratches
Hi. Is it still solid or do you have some problems with protector film?
2 years still zero issues :)
Homerraas Thank you 👍🏻😊
Really perfect... same problem i have... how can i find those polish internationaly...
Tolga Ozdemir Amazon.de sells the stuff, other links are in my video
Use anti glare screen?
Maybe watch and read the info ;)
@@BMWorks_NL sorry wasn’t being nasty. Just brought Mini Cooper and the glare is horrible in the sun . Just thought anti glare screen would be best?
Doe je het ook tegen vergoeding? Heb de zelfde probleem
Dat kan zeker, gelijk CarPlay inbouwen of onderhoud inplannen?
@@edwinrasenberg2155 hoe kom ik in contact met je ?
@@kadirceyhan4187 via mijn kanaal 😉 daar staat mijn website. Kan ik hier niet noemen
Great video! Does the new anti-glare screen protector interfere with polarised sunglasses?
No but the screen itself is slightly polerized
Hi, kun je mij misschien vertellen hoe je aan de screenprotector komt?
Do people read the video information ;)
Absolutely great job.
Had you disconect battery before dissasebly?
No i did not
Thank youuu i dint know it was so fragile and it was smudged so i cleaned it and it scratched
Was that a tv tuner? Or downloads?
You select TV so it was live TV ;)
Homerraas where can I get it?
@@slikyjuju on ebay.de BUT you need the wiring AND fiberoptic then code the car for TV
Can it work tv screen
Thank you, Sir!
hvordan får du skærmen ud??
English?
Can you give dimensions of screen protector?
Kamil Boral raad the comments ;) select car and year and you will get the correct size :)
@@BMWorks_NL The Lexerd website only has the years of cars to 2016, so it doesn't cover the e90-e93 screens.
Thats an anti-glare coating on the screen, once remomed with just plain water and a rag it becomes shiny and you will see all the annoying reflection from light!
So don’t wash it with water? It’s not touch screen. All it needs is a dusting.
