Why not just let him jump right in and just sit back with the popcorn and enjoy his rollercoaster ride with those two epic songs. :D But not before he gets some background on Poet and the Pedulum first... ;) The greatest show on earth can floor anyone no matter when they watch. 🤘😆

I'm not a guitar player myself, but I've heard that Nightwish's riffs are not difficult but they are fun to play. And many people say that Emppu's solos (he always writes them himself) are short and sweet, just like the man himself. ^_^

Its the sum of the parts kinda thing....yes they are not technically that challenging but like all their parts are put together tailor made to serve the song and compliment each other...if they dont need a solo..they dont do a solo...just like in every great band everything is done with a purpose and not just to be there.

Some of their songs are pretty easy. But there are others, especially the older ones from Oceanborn and Wishmaster. They may sound easy, but they aren't. The problem is - as always - to be on spot and to keep the dynamic.

Symphonic metal is the bomb. Soaring vocals from classically trained sopranos (usually), double-bass drum kicks, majestic orchestral arrangements, crunchy guitars, lights and pyro - indeed, it is musical theatre

For information about the 'backing track'. Part of thuomas's preparation of each album is to work with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Metro Choir to compose and produce these backing tracks. The drummer is the one that keeps the bands timing so the band keeps time with the Orchestra and Choir recordings.

"King of catchy choruses." Good line, looking forward to you reacting to "Ghost River" which, imo has one of the catchiest choruses and riffs in their repertoire. Not to mention just a killer bass line. Marco growls the mesmerizing chorus while Floor sings angelic soprano, soaring into the stratosphere. One of my personal favorites, but it's like trying to choose a favorite child. They're all amazing.

I like the question "this band don't have any bad songs do they?" well, when it comes to Nightwish the lowest rating becomes "It's less good". I mean they don't have a single album you skip songs on, but every album have some outstanding tracks that just makes the other songs feel "less good".

Besides being the keyboard player Tuomas is also the lead composor of most of Nightwish's songs. Each mucisian will play only what they need to, according to howTuomas has written each song, in order to portray the right emotion at just the right time! This in my humble opinion is why most of Nightwish's songs have become masterpieces. Many times, I have heard Tuomas being referred to as "Metal Mozart" which I feel is a title that he has most definitely earned.
When Tuomas composes his songs for Nightwish he combines the digitally recorded background tracks along with just the right amount of each and every musical instrument, that when mixed together creates one of his many masterpieces! He uses each instrument including Floor's voice to protray the extact emotion desired and at the exactly the right time. Unlike in some metal bands the lead guitarist, bass player and drummer take their individual solos to say look at me and how awesome I am. The musicians in Nightwish know thery are good and know that they have nothing to prove. Each of them have been performing live for more than 30 years.

This is one of their poppies tracks. It's really simple and straightforward if one compares it to their style in general. No complex part structures, no funny time signature and tempo changes or weird modulations etc... it's easy, catchy and that's why it's quite popular.
That part after the half way point? Yeah... I said "straightforward compared to their style in general"... everything's relative :D

  • @silverlightx6
    @silverlightx6 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I'm sure you've been told before, but the reason why there are more "pop rock" songs vs. other songs like ghost love score is because they were written for the 2 previous singers who had vastly different singing styles. The songs written for Tarja Turunen (the first singer) are more operatic/classical. The songs written for Anette Olzon (2nd singer) are more pop-y. Songs written for Floor (this singer) are yet another style all together, which you haven't had a chance to hear yet. Fortunately for you, they *just* released a new album.
    Enjoy the ride :)

  • @eddiewinehosen6665

A few songs, all of them very good to say the least, seem to be so requested that I'm propably in for a loosing battle. But here are my suggestions for your next NW reaction(s) anyways. 'Shudder before the beautiful' and '7 days to the wolves', both at Wembley Arena 2015, and a great Pink Floyd cover 'High Hopes', 2005 (Helsinki Finland?), with a magical atmosphere. Marko taking care of the vocals, just like in Marko's own song 'Islander', Tampere, Finland 2015.
Going thru the whole Wacken 2013 concert first, before going to other NW material, is a good choice too. I know many fans prefer that, and it's also easier for you to keep track not bouncing back and forth between songs from different concerts.

Yes I would love to see some guitar stuff. Most of the guitar riffs are not overly difficult. However they do use many key changes and transpositions in their music. They have a new CD out and there is one song on it that I would be very interested in seeing you do a guitar video. It is called "Pan" like the Greek god of rustic music among other things. It is a song about unleashing the human imagination. The guitar riffs are very heavy with some intricate patterns and accents. They have a lyric video available to watch on YT. As far as reaction videos, "Ever Dream" is another more straight forward song with an incredibly powerful musical and vocal climax. Or most people would want you to do "Song of Myself", a song inspired by the Walt Whitman poem of the same name. Both live from Wacken 2013. See you for the next one. Peace out!

There is an Planet Rock acoustic version of "How's the Heart" (off of their new album, HumanIINature) that might be a good song for you to do a guitar cover. Beautiful, haunting song, with fairly complex guitar work by Troy (I'm not a guitar player, but the finger work seems fairly complex to a layman like myself). Maybe once you review it, you can decide if you want to cover it. At worst, it will give you a chance to hear Floor's acoustic work. Another layer of the onion peeled.

The only thing wrong in this clip is with the director who keeps cutting away from that shot of Floor doing her end bit.

Hah, the album version of this is just straight-up Disney pop. They rearranged the live sound to be considerably heavier once Floor stepped in, to suit her more powerful vocals. I'm so used to her version I do a double take every time I hear the original. :D

I've been going through the original versions of all the songs I've reacted to so far, and this one is really something! Thank you for your comment!

I’m a true-blue Floor fan, however, if you’re interested in hearing a decent one by Annette (Bye Bye Beautiful), which is an official music video: th-cam.com/video/hTdhXxxWREo/w-d-xo.html

Would we watch covers? I mean, I dunno. Are you good? :-) I like the sort of self-advertisements at the end where we see what, I assume, is a "best of / this was interesting" snippet from your gameplay, which again, I assume is meant to be your bread and butter. Smart. I like smart. Sub'd.
