I know that suppressors don't work in the game as they do in real life. You'll notice I say "suspense of disbelief" after briefly explaining the suppressor bit in the video. The way they work in the game is how it is, and realistic or not, it's just what it is, and that's what we're playing with.

Could use those scout goggles and say your gear equipment is limited because bureaucrats.
Also in my game I can put a suppressor on without selecting it, as long as I don't equip the compensators.

    • @Darkdally
      @Darkdally  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yeah, that's one reason I like to run compensators - because it's a decision that locks me out of a suppressor until I can go back into my loadout. I like the restriction personally

Little late to the party but something I like to do for most classes besides the sniper is have the super shorty as my secondary. Simply being that weight wise it would be hell for someone to hump their essential gear with their primary weapon along with another substantial weapon (such as a full submachine gun or carbine) with a full ammo load through the hills and jungles of a nation will little infrastructure such as Bolivia. It really brings up the tension when you've got to resort to it because you don't have time to reload or pulling it out when you're going in to a building. Seeing as how I'll have a compensator on my primary so I'll have to go to my sidearm for stealth.
For the sniper I'll have a machine pistol, sub machine gun or PDW. They all have their purpose and at some point you'll use em all.
      Great vids and tips!!
Another cool thing I do is use the PEQ15 (or ATPIAL) laser. Using that as a sort of cross hair that works for night vision as well a normal view without being out of place in regards to immersion.

I did the backpack thing but since i didn't want to restrain myself so much to the point where i wasn't allowed to use certain tools i changed my npc teammates backpacks aswell to kind of explain how i was able to use all that stuff. For example i equiped Weaver with the medic backpack, Midas with the Drone backpack and Holt with the radio backpack, that way it feels more inmmersive without it being at the cost of versatility.

Me and my boy take a day to secure a briefing zone near a mission where we decide what ops to use during the mission based on the terrain on the map governing the mission area. We then switch to the determined ops with specific gameplay restrictions based on who we picked and find high ground. We then crouch and pull up our map and mark high value recon points for the overwatch and point and network around his position.after he completes his binocular only recon,he has to recommend point of entry for me the infiltrator. Doing all of this adds an amazing sense of player driven narrative with our briefing point, high ground to plan on our maps using the mark feature to plan in depth how we think we should postion, then the scout recons and gives you a POE based on it while i can use visions and cqc and pistol only

For Hardcore players like me, I recommend to print a clean version of the map, and use visual references to locate yourself using your hand map. Only use the in game map to find locations, missions and items when you are on a rebel post, with an informer, or when you are receiving instructions by radio. In those cases you can check in game map and even write a note on your hand map. It's great to try o get oriented by environment or visual references, sometimes you had to go to highlands to be able to see some places and use them as directions. There are going to be a lot of times when you are going to say "where the f... am I?", or that you are going through a wood and then suddenly are in a middle of a Santa Blanca's camp, so you need to be careful of what is on the surroundings.

Something I thought of to kinda expand on my backpack tip was that any other player in the fireteam could use the drone, but they would have to be with the drone operator. For example, if the comms specialist wanted to call in rebel support but needed a better point of view, he would group up with the comms specialist and could only use the drone then.
Also, the buildings you clear in the rebel ops where you blow the doors open to initiate it, I have started kinda utilizing them as makeshift outposts/rest areas.

I wish you could have a game based on immersion game play. Things I would add are swapping half empty mags equals a half empty mag, see thru bullet level on mags, check gas tire pressure and car fluids, ringing ears from successive gun fire or noise cancelling, drone recharge battery swap, after revive player movement stifled for a while, food and canteen drink, rare gun jam from over use or not cleaning like a mini game to clean weapon, bug and animal bites, shivering in cold, a dropped gun when swapping for an enemies, and compass use.

+Darkdally I’ve been using backpack related alterations too. Some I’ve been using are:
    1. Rush72 allows x1 anti-material sniper rifle (as Ubisoft hasn’t provided a realistic drag bag or similar). Or ghillie as you mentioned.
    2. Any backpack Rush and above allows carrying and changing in the field of 1x gloves, helmet, sunglasses, ability to change primary weapon’s compensator to silencer OUT of combat and 1x (what I would call mission specific item - see below).
    3. Expansion on what you mentioned regarding backpacks and use of items. I have purchased the Sapper pack, so I will only allow myself to use C4 if this pack is equipped. So for demolition based missions you must equip this. This leads me to...
    4. Mission specific items. For example, any missions related to destroying cocaine stores, chemicals, precursors etc. you MUST wear some form of gas mask or you can’t complete these objectives.
I’ve also had some ideas for expanding the game somewhat in a tabletop/board game type of way. The previous suggestion for example, if you do not wear a gas mask near these types of objectives, you can no longer adjust your stance. IE. You can only run up-right as you’re too dizzy to coordinate your movements, making it much easier to be spotted. Obviously this type of thing would require self-policing, but I think it could be a cool way to add another layer of immersion to the game. Anyway let me know if anyone has interest in this type of thing.

supressors reducing damage/ penetration is a complete false hood, they actually boost bullet velocity IRL. this is unless you are using subsonic ammo when equipting supressors, which will quiet the weapon far more, but you never see them specify which ammo so either way it should increase damage and penetration.

    • @Darkdally
      @Darkdally  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Yeah and I mentioned that in the video but then edited it out. This video was much longer than I wanted and I had to trim a lot out. I said basically what you said, and then I said something about the game physics not being irl physics, and then the part about suspense of disbelief. If it sounded out of place when I said that, it's cuz I edited out the whole bit saying what you just said. I didn't think it was necessary, but again, my answer to that is "suspense of disbelief" it is the way it is in the game you know.

    Great video my good sir!
I normally play somewhat of survival mode style.
Here are some of the rules I came up with: (or a quick summary)
1- Start the game with CamelBak, lower rating weapons, no vest (The vest equals +2 health point, when acquired).. you get the idea. So in this case, when I locate an enemy wearing a vest, I sneak behind him, grab and drag this villain around a house or something, take his vest and knock him out. Same goes for high tech equipments (which I normally steal from Unidad, since they carry better equipment), like for example: Cross Com Glasses, or NVG, or a drone backpack, or radio backpack, or a large backpack in which I could carry a med pack, NVG and lets say a compact submachine gun like the VECTOR.
2- I only steal one item per villain.
3- If I am to use/turn ON some sort of HUD then I must steal a Com Glasses from a Unidad soldier.
4- Since I don't have a NVG helmet, in this case I use Scout Headset (eyewear to pretend as the NVG).
5- I never steal any car that belongs to a civilian. Only from the bad guys.
6- I can only look at the TACMAP when I find an informer (lets say, when I locate a HVT, ill grab him and then open the TACMAP, as if he explaining/telling me where to go next)... So if I need to drive from point A to point B and I dont have a GPS (mini map) in my car, then i will drag this HVT to my vehicle and take him along the ride (so that way I can continue to at the TACMAP, as if he was forced guide me there).
7- Create locations to find better weapons and attachments. And so on.
I normally build up health points by finding food or medic crates, or using vest or by walking into a pharmacy or hospital, but if keep on dying and lose them all, then I will lose everything I found. If I die from an explosion then no matter how hit points I have my character automatically loses everything, and I have to start all over.
Well there's many more things I do but this is just an exemple or ideas if anyone would like to use or tweak it!
    Take good care 😊

  • @ThreeProphets
    @ThreeProphets 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Perks to avoid BEFORE you regret it:
Steady aim - Magnified optics are very hard to keep stable, and even without a single point of this, Wildlands doesn't do a great job showcasing this
Advanced suppressor - Already discussed in this series. Given how unreasonable quiet suppressed weapons are in this game, we can assume you're running subsonic ammo with it. Taking this perk removes the strategy of choosing when to use a suppressor. For an additional rule, reload whenever you take your suppressor on or off so you switch ammo types (note to self: Test weapons with poor sound dampening for more realistic suppressed loadouts)
Unnecessary items - Taking these will actually make the game more difficult as well as unimmersive. You don't need a flare gun. You don't need multiple types of mines. You can shoot mines (which you start with) to use them as makeshift remote charges. You're probably never going to get the diversion lure to work, plus you have to strategize when to equip that drone if you don't have them. You don't have room in your vest to carry 20 mines and grenades
Explosive drone - If you detonate this, you can't use your drone until you resupply at an RP. Try EMP. It's much quieter, and easier to justify being able to recover it
Infinite drone battery - This removes all strategy of how long you can use your drone. Take all tiers of recharge and battery except infinite. I also like to fly it back to my character when it gets low on battery, but this could be tricky without a GPS
Silent drone: Helicopters are loud. Even without this, you can reliably use your drone to recon the inside of a building without it getting spotted
Thermal - This will also make the game harder if you have it by forcing you to cycle through it as you see Dally doing here every time you want to disable night vision. I can never get it to work there way I want it to anyway, but if you want to take it, you can also say you can only use it with certain items, like the rangefinder, drone, and advanced or echelon NODs
Vehicle destruction and shields - This will change the balance of damage to vehicles so any vehicle you drive suddenly becomes nearly invulnerable, and any vehicle you tag with a few stray rounds detonates it's engine like a nuclear bomb, again making steal the car missions and car chases where you might have to switch vehicle much harder
Stamina - Especially if you're carrying three guns, you start with more than enough stamina
No pain and bullet resistance - Bullet resistance changes the balance of how many hit points you have relative to the enemy, which you can strategize depending on what difficulty you're on, and what kind of armor you're wearing. Unfortunately we can't respec perks, or I'd be changing this all the time. I find advanced to be about balanced with no points in this, but on extreme I feel like I need it. Beware tier mode, and it's impossibly perceptive laser beam one hit kill enemies. No pain increases your damage resistance by orders of magnitude after you get revived, making you an unstoppable killing machine for 10 seconds
Revive speed - When a soldier is shot or blown up and unable to patch themselves up, they're at least going to need to be bandaged. This takes time. We obviously don't have the correct animations for this, so just pretend we do

  • @ThreeProphets
    @ThreeProphets 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

When playing co op, have all players disable their GPS and have a designated navigator in the vehicle to give directions to the driver. Then if you take fire, they have to strategize between navigating and returning fire
When playing solo, count your sync shots in out loud, using your preferred system. I've had to start doing this to avoid using an exploit that allows me to use sync shots on enemies through multiple layers of cover, mountains, anything. I've cleared entire radio stations from the outside, before ever detonating my charges using this. Once you figure it out, it's incredibly overpowered, and very difficult to stop doing

a recent one I start doing is even I paint my gun, I keep the ammo clips black .... because the spare clips in my vest are all black o.0 so how can those be black and then be camo once I put 'em in haha
the only resupply at rebel bases is one of the first ones I started doing I think, it's a really good one. the 'gun in the vehicle' is a nice touch tho. only time I've ever allowed myself to 'change gear' in the field before was the gillie suit since I figured it was one thing maybe I could fit on those backpacks. (just change the top tho not the pants or other clothing). could be fun to RP putting other gear in a vehicle too though. e.g. two extra guns and maybe a jacket or the armor vest. it's kinda fun idea to 'protect' the vehicle, too, as your mobile 'change gear' node.
I started doing the drone thing a while back... at first, I figured Midas has a drone and he's never seen using it (cuz isn't Holt actually the drone expert on the official bio lol) so if I use a drone I'm just using the one Midas is carrying for the team (why bring 2 drones). but then I started making them 'Hold' more and more so I started only using the drone if I'm with Midas or got the backpack.

    Play recommendation: "Only one!"
Rule: Select your weapons and outfit with role in mind (Sniper, Assault, CQB ETC ETC)
    BUT!!!!!!
The weapons only have one of each category of attachments.
Example: If you have a sniper rifle with a scope, the rest of your weapons have to have iron sights.
You have a silencer on your pistol? Now the rest of your weapons are loud.
Got a laser sight on your secondary weapon? Now you cant have that type of attachment on the other weapons.
Give it a try, makes you really think about the role you want to be in and how to prepare.

2:51 is realistic (getting adv suppresser) because they don't take away damage in real life they just slow velocity inturn reduceing penatrsion but a 50 cal buttlet is still a 50 cal bullet putting a suppresser ain't gonna make as weak as a 347. Sniper buttlet like the MSR uses
TLDR : Taking ADV suppresser is more realistic then not having it

One thing I would add to the back pack rule designate a pack for support gear not just the drone and radio packs ie designate a pack for support weapons like, (mines and c4) if you don't hand the demo pack you can't use c4 to take out SAM's, generators, ect.

I've loved Wildlands since it came out, and Darkdally I've loved your channel since I found it. However I don't think a few of your tips make a whole lot of sense in this video. I've already read the comments in regards to suppressors in the game not representing how they work in real life so I won't beat that dead horse. You did say though that it isn't immersive to use one all the time. Most SOF units run cans on at all times because it greatly reduced muzzle flash and also reduces concussion created by the weapon saving your hearing. Even with in ear and over ear hearing protection on, when you have 4 guys in one room firing off rounds it's fucking loud.
The other thing was when you said about not carrying two "large" weapons. It's not at all uncommon for guys to carry and assault rifle with a sniper rifle. The AR is for patrolling in and out of the area and the SR is for precision engagements. Again, extremely common military practise. Not hating, just stating.

I doubt you'll see this, Dark, but in regards to the drone backpack. I'm a glutton for punishment in this game. I'm currently running through Ghost Mode with some of the immersion rules throughout these video guidelines. But back to the drone, I allow myself one drone use without the backpack. I run one of the rush backpacks which is rather large. No reason I can't have a single drone in there. A secondary rule to it is battery life. On Ghost Mode I don't get the unlimited battery perk. If my drone goes down over an enemy base, it's gone. BUT if I can bring it back to my character, I'm sure I can quickly swap out a battery once per supply crate.

One immersion I started doing was helicopter drop offs and pick ups. My one character I'm playing, he's decked out in military gear. Something which would be too obvious just walking around or driving on the road. So if I can't easily walk there off the beaten path, I'll get "dropped off" by chopper. If the s**t hits the fan I can "call in" for pickup. However you cannot get back in the chopper until after 2 minutes. So your going to have to hunker down near the chopper and hope you can survive the onslaught. Really intense and fun. Also you have to land in realistic areas where you know a chopper can actually land, this includes rebel outposts, if there is no realistic place to land, you don't land there. That's one of my immersion tactics, enjoy!

Just want to point out that the Standard Issue pack is in fact a radio pack, in case that was missed. Also, just want to throw this in, but since the game includes packs like the Rush 72, a collapsed PDW like the SR-365 would easily fit in there. My basic load-out:
    Primary: R5-RGP
Since it's UNIDAD unit standard issue, I only refill it from UNIDAD units I killed and from their bases, nowhere else. And in return, I have to be stealthy as to conserve ammo because of that rule. So I actually go for the 1 shot 1 kill as much as possible.
    Secondary: SR25
Because in my opinion, it is balance, both range and ROF. The ROF of course is useful when enemy calls for backup and I have to take them out in succession. HTI and HTI BDC and MSR have good ranges but their ROF will get you killed when it comes to a firefight and you are about to get cornered. You may say "Why don't you just switch to your primary?", well, because of rule #1.
    Backpack: Standard
Since it can stand for basic communication and drone at the same time.
In regards with the costume, I only change them when I'm at a rebel base, not in vehicles.
Stealth missions: I ALWAYS use my pistol for such missions (i.e Supply Depo in Koani) or infiltrating a UNIDAD base. Getting in a firefight with UNIDAD in their own base, in EXTREME difficulty and NO HUD is suicide.

I love these immersion rules! Another well thought out and awesome post, dude.
It's funny, I wasn't even taking into account about the bullet casings being left behind, but I usually run with at least one non NATO firearm in my loadout. That is a really good reason to use non NATO firearms for firefights though, and say stick to a sniper rifle, or something you can marksman designate. As you can collect bullets easily if your rifle is used for this purpose, and fired in semi only. I was very limiting on what I upgraded from the very beginning, as many of the upgrades seemed way too out there. So that suppressor skill was definitely a no go. I also limit myself to carrying only one suppressed weapon. usually my secondary which is a pdf, smg, or sawed down rifle. I really love the backpack idea as well, that's a great idea. It sucks though, because my character is kitted with the camelback lol, so she has no options except keeping the team hydrated. I'm actually not really using the drone at all. When I do I've been thinking "Midas, drone up" Lol. I think he's the Ghost with the drone pack. I figure it wouldn't be a leap that Ghost lead also has the controls to the drone in a pouch somewhere. The night-vision only with the NVG helmet is also a great one. I'm just screwed with that one, because I'm obsessed with my characters beret lol. Using the NV with the binos helps with that though.
Awesome vid man, keep it up!

Non NATO weapons, was bit of a personal play style thing. But glad you are enjoying long gun/support gun combo. It's easy to explain away presence of a lot of weapons, Santa Blanca came from mexico and they have access to a lot of US made weapons.
If you do decide to go that route, Bren 805 and Scorpion Evo are Czech made. AUG is so widely used around the world, and, is not used by US forces that it would accomplish same goal, plus has easily interchangeable barrels, which may allow you to switch to long range build mid mission. SR3M, is exclusively used by Russian special forces, using that would leave anyone wondering as to what the hell is SpetsNaz doing abroad... If you want to make it even more fun, refill the ammo at the enemy base ammo boxes only if the enemies there use that type of ammo. (You would have to know what weapon uses what ammo, but knowing would help in real life if you had to replenish your ammunition from enemy stash. Would really make it interesting if you are using .50 bmg snipers, or .308 at non unidad base.)
Night vision suggestion: G33 Scopes. This will require a little suspension of disbelief, but some night vision devices are used by quick mount system. You take it of your helmet, and attach it to your weapon behind existing optic. It is a far more restricting view, but a lot more comfortable when you actually aim with night vision. So call the g33 part of the scopes night vision attachment, and only use g33 bit when you turn on night vision. Also helicopter have night vision in my universe heh.
Another idea, use same caliber for pistol and smg to justify carrying sooooo much ammo for both. So 5.11 with P90, Vecror with 1911 or P12. and 9mm with P229 or beretta.

Try playing the the Kingslayer file mission where you play in extreme gameplay and the only skill you can upgrade is the stamina, because you are going to need it and ammo capacity two times if you wish. I get most all my ammo from the enemy I shoot and the helio's I shoot down, you have to get to them very quickly or the ammo disappears. You can play getting your ammo that way only and getting your 2 grenades from the ammo boxes. I don't use the grenades so I don't have to go to any ammo boxes for a refill. No supply convoys are allowed to be collected, only what you find but it is fun to destroy them if you can. That makes you risk you life and look harder to get that supply box for your stamina upgrade. No kind of intel can be opened or used and no releasing any prisoners or using any kind of rebel support and no drone. The way I play it is you go around and locate all the files in a providence first, it gets confusing if you collect them first and then try to find the missing one. Then you go back and collect them all and then and only then you can move to a new providence. The providence you move to has to be touching the one you finish and once you start you have to finish that one. This keeps you from running 'far off places' to collect the guns and upgrades you really want. You can use the weapons that you pick up 'until you die'. I find the guns that are given in the beginning are very good and does a great job. I use the Unidad machine gun and the R4. I do everything on foot the first time around to ensure you check every nook and cranny, that would be up to you. If you really enjoy playing Ghost Recon as I do, you can then go back and start collecting all the other collectibles but one at a time, not all the collectibles in one place a one time. P.S. no looking at collectible guide videos.

Regarding weapons types and the brass they leave behind: I usually try to stick to 7.62x39mm or 9x39mm weapons not because it's what the Cartel and Unidad use, (they use a lot of NATO calibered weapons, including the M40A5, which triggers me every time because the M40, AFAIK, isn't available to anyone outside the USMC, seeing as they custom build them all, but...tangent), but the because if you notice, the rebels all use old Soviet bloc/Russian weapons (including SR3Ms* somehow, even though those should also be pretty damn hard to get your hands on). If the Ghosts aren't officially supposed to be in country, and the whole dismantling of the Cartel is a "rebel op" *wink wink*, it makes sense to leave behind the same brass as the rebels would. I typically use the 556xi because, despite its name, it fires 7.62x39. I make an exception for sniper rifles because I'm (usually) shooting from a concealed position so there's little chance they would find shell casings, and I could police them if I thought that might happen, although I stick to the SVD in urban enviroments.
*I could also go on about how the SR3M is the only assault rifle in the game that fires a subsonic round specifically designed to be fired from a suppressed weapon, and yet it somehow manages to be the loudest (or maybe 2nd loudest after the SCAR-H) silenced assault rifle in the game. I could go on about that, but I won't... oh.

-I will use a long gun and a short gun(smg or assault rifle) My rule for that is that EITHER both long guns have to match in caliber or magazines, OR that the long gun is independent, and the smg has to match my pistol in caliber, because I know most operators would avoid carrying three calibers.
-I always try to go in without scouting at all, and make it though without any suspicion at all. This could really be done at any difficulty

It would be really nice if GRW was moddable. So far the only mods available are post-processing injectors like ReShade. But full modablilty would be amazing for immersion mods. Yeah, I know the ArmA series exists and I own ArmA 2, OA, and 3, but the streamlined gameplay of GRW would be fun to add realism elements to.
Also, Midas carries a drone backpack, so the squad would always have access to the drone. Holt and Weaver have normal backpacks to carry anything in. So that leaves Nomad to carry the radio equipment.

I honestly have a predator build, basically you have the helmet not the mask(can’t change the color of the mask), cryo shirt+pants and the warrior vest and always the drone, it’s kinda cheating I guess because my thought process is that the mask gives you the ability to change your camo for the environment your in(basically kinda a realistic version of the predators camouflage ability) and it doesn’t hinder your ability to use and type of vision

Nice ideas! I wonder if they'll ever put a first person camera in the game. That would be true immersion as you don't see the world through an over the shoulder camera looking at yourself from the back. ;)

What about folding the stock? You should be able to do that.
