I'm also a creative writing major and intro to literature is KILLING ME. We're currently having to analyze a bunch of short stories and it's just not my cup of tea but I'm trying 😅
Vee, looks like you are doing so well! I think you gravitating to books on grief or write about grief as it is so therapeutic and I think tackling grief when your in the midst of grief is very healthy for the mind body and soul. Also, you’re so inspirational! I am off my writing game BAD lol 😂
I’m a sophomore in high school and I really want to major in creative writing in college, my literal dream is to become a New York Times best selling author. I adore writing and I am just wondering if majoring in creative writing is worth it?
Great vlog Vee...🤩🤩🤩!!! Heres hoping you receive some helpful feedback from your Alpha reader. And GREAT going that you can maintain the writing scope of more than one novel...😎!!! Happy Writing to you in February...🥳🥳🥳!!!
Hi just discovered you, great video. If you don't mind me asking, what app do you use for your novel writing? I'm struggling to find a good app where I can have my chapters well organized.
a very valid concern! honestly it’d be really hard for someone to steal your work because it’d be a ton of effort (they’d then have to edit it, query it, publish it) that isn’t worth the risk. personally, i find solace in having multiple drafts and typed out documents of my novel as proof that i wrote it
Lol I try not to read books about what I'm currently writing at the time. Not sure why, but I just don't want to get influenced and accidentally copy something I guess.
Hooray to Europe!! Where in particular did you and your friend group decide to go for it? The meal prepping is indeed clutch. And I have respect for anyone who can find a way to reheat chicken without it tasting like either a burnt crouton or wet fish. Screenwriting is the most fun part of filmmaking ... which is more the bias of my personal experience, but might objectively be a fact since shooting a film and editing a film are both raging frustrations at the best of times. (And yet compared to getting a film financed, they are a piece of cake.) Of your loglines, 3 and 4 are the keepers. If I were the producer I'd be most excited about #3 ... but just as a heads-up, when it comes to getting the film made, #4 will be less expensive.
thank you, i’m so excited! we’re going to berlin, copenhagen, prague, vienna and budapest! sometimes it’s arduous enough to edit a 20 minute video for youtube so i couldn’t even imagine the frustrations of editing a film😭 those other aspects of filmmaking outside of screenwriting intrigue me though! thanks for your input on the loglines☺️
3 of those 5 cities you mention are spectacular go-tos for literature but ESPECIALLY for music. So whenever friends of mine are going there, I have specific places to tell them to watch for: Copenhagen has Hans Christian Andersen letters at the Royal Library; Prague has the Moravian Museum where you might be able to see scores by Leos Janacek; Vienna has the City Library where they house scores by Franz Schubert; the Society of Friends of Music with archived scores by Johannes Brahms; and the Arnold Schonberg Center. I'm not sure how easy Berlin will be to navigate. I know their State Library has original copies of Bach's Mass and Beethoven's 9th, but the tourist traffic might be an inconvenient handful if your schedule is already packed. Be careful in Budapest when it comes to maintaining a hygienic stay ... Hungary is still having severe struggles with Covid compared to other countries in the area.
I been thinking going to school for creative writing and literally only been seeing negative things about it 😩which is discouraging do you believe creative writing is worth it?????
omg no i personally love my program so much!! it might be subjective to school and different profs but i personally haven’t found a single creative writing focused class to be a waste. the profs are passionate, the material is useful and a lot of upper year classes are workshops where you learn to give and receive feedback on written work!
Hey Vee! I'm a new subscriber, but I do have a question. I'm a young author, I'm in my early teens but have been writing stories for a couple of years, and I've been wanting to include diversity in my books. I've tried watching other videos, but none of them have been helpful (i'm a white writer by the way). I know that you are able to include diversity in your book ideas, but I don't even know where to start. Do you possibly have any ideas or tips that you may be able to give me to start out? Thank you so much, and I love your videos!
hey☺️ that’s so great! my tip for writing diverse characters is to do research on their cultures, ethnicities and identities so it feels authentic and to avoid stereotypes!
@@sincerelyvee thank you! I really appreciate the reply by the way! I'll try to do that. Gladly, I have people in my life that are the same race as the people I wanna write about, so I guess that makes it easier. But, again, I really appreciate the reply! I'm looking forward to seeing more videos! ^^
Hii my pretty vee I just wanted to let you know that you inspired me to open my own TH-cam channel I am also a University student and working in my first book sending lots of love 🦋
i have a playlist on my channel that should go over it’s journey until the end! essentially i took it as far as i could and decided to shelve it instead of query it as i didn’t think it’d be the best fit for my debut!
veeeee! new writing vlog?? YESSS

I'm thinking of doing Creative Writing Specialization Certificate.. should i ? :)
I have an honest question. How do you protect your work when sending it out to alpha or beta readers? I'm scared that my work might get stolen.

@@sincerelyvee that makes sense. Tysm for answering! Gives me a lot more confidence.
what are the best colleges/schools for creative writers?

major :)
