Lou, you are such an awesome person. I love watching your videos. I hope you keep making them for a long time to come. I have a special place in my heart for Oldsmobiles, my dad had a 1965 F85 station wagon, it only had a 330 and a power glide, but it set me off to Oldsmobiles. I was only 5 years old when this style of Cutlass came out, but for some reason I always remember that front and, with the for headlights and the turn signals in between. You are right, the car does sound pretty awesome. They knew what they were doing when they put that one together. Plus the Ramrod is really a nice name for that.
I never knew they made this Ram Rod version. I learned something new. I was just 10 years old when it was made but I do remember these very well. Nice restoration and a great owner thanks for sharing Lou!

It looked like an old mans car. The only things that gave away that it was different was the scoops below the bumper, the rear end cover and the ram rod decals. Not to mention the wild 308 degree duration, 88 degrees of overlap with .474 inch lift camshaft that allowed the free breathing heads with larger two inch intake valve and 1.625 exhaust valves, using W-30 type valve springs. The Quadra-Jet four barrel carburetor featured larger .074 primary metering jets, 4-4-2 AU code secondary metering rods and a special light pressure power piston spring designed to work properly with The low engine vacuum produced due to the camshaft. Car & Driver said the nearly same engine in the '69'W-31 had " soul" not normally found on this side of the Atlantic river". Roger Huntington said while testing the '68 Ram Rod 350 that the wild camshaft wasn't much, until you got up to about three thousand rpm, then once you got on top of that cam it was "rev city"! Once again Charles, you presented another exceptional Oldsmobile for us to see. Thank you.
I own a 68 Cutlass Supreme and I love my car. Needs some work but I'm enjoying taking the time in puting the work in and one day have mine look this nice.

Cars awesome. Straight as could be. ha, another memory,,,'80, Sunday morning early, take my '69 383 Magnum Charger a ride. Blvd run by a friends house see an Olds Cutlass. Stoplight run, I got this then he hits a gear and barks the tires. Gone. See a funny plate as it goes by....W-30. I think these were big blocks.
Outstanding Lou!!! Beautiful art and machinery!!! I just purchased a 1970 442-w-30 conv about a month ago...Same condition as your's..Im lovin it...Back when car's were CAR'S!!!!
Really nice resto on an awesome car. I know it would make it incorrect, but there is no way I could have helped myself and left that unlit block off plate in the clock hole when there are still rebuilt rallye gauges available with a tick tock tach. I suppose this is why some of the really special rare cars like this are better off in the hands of guys like this guy.
Love those Oldsmobile Cutless's . My dad got on a Oldsmobile kick that saw him buy a new Olds starting in 1975 with a Cutless. He got a new car every two years and ended in 95 with a Olds 88. Shame Olds and Pontiac are gone now. John Lingenfelter was a great driver and has driven some of the fastest cars. Not only did he build some fast cars he drove them also. Like a C4 ZR1 that went over 230 MPH he also drove the Callaway Sledgehammer C4 Corvette setting the record of 254. 76 MPH back in 1988.
Hi ZWILD!, Happy to read you "Love those Oldsmobile Cutlass's" :-) Glad to read this car brings back memories of your Dad's cars. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Super nice! I had a '68 Cutlass S back in the late '80's, but it wasn't a W31. Hard to believe it's only got a gas hand and speedometer. You'd think it would have had full gauges.
What a gorgeous example. Better than new, yet genuine to core of car. This is what its about! The punishment those rear polyglass red stripes can see is, brutal!
A bleeder!! Great color combo, wow. If Id have only known in my youth these were a bodies Id have bought one. Dash blows away and yr chevelle for sure. Classy looking runner just the way it is no mods needed.
I remember this, great car! I miss the days when the American auto manufacturers would take a mundane car like a Cutlass, and turn it into an affordable supercar like the Ramrod, 442, 442 W-30 or Hurst Olds.

I had one like this. A `69 5.7L dual carb. When I drove over one slightly undulating highway bridge, the thing always swayed behind. It was fun on the straightaways but slappy in - here often - tight curves. Good memories except its high gas consumption. 21L/100KM!!!, therefore i sold it again.
I love how if you didn't click the clock option at the initial purchase, you got the face of a clock, minus the numbers on the right side of the instrument cluster. Kinda also surprised there were idiot lights in the dash instead of actual gauges, though again these may have been optional. Nevertheless a sweet machine and a fine work of automotive sculpture.
Lou have you ever seen in person a OLDSMOBILE 358 NASCAR BLOCK would love to see if you could come across a running motor or a old oldsmobile stock car you seam to have the oldsmobile hook up my guy peace and much respect to you Jason 👍 im a oldsmobile man myself

Crazy question. I've read that those Ram Rods were spread out across S trims, F-85's, and Holidays. The window sticker in the video shows Holiday Coupe, but the badges show it to be an S. I'm a Chevelle guy and only have a certain amount of Olds knowledge. Can anyone shed light on this car having the details I mentioned above? Could the car be denoted as both or only one of those trims?
Wonderful Car. In the empty dash socket a Tach would be a better addition. It can always be removed later for a sale. But that way you don't blow up that Ram Rod Engine.

Thank you.
Hi Karl Sarpolis, Thank you for viewing, sharing your knowledge, and glad to read you enjoy Charles car :-) Lou
391 gears with a 4 speed that'll definitely get you off the line fast
Just the way we like it :-)
I own a 68 Cutlass Supreme and I love my car.

Hi glen kepic, Happy to read you think this car is "awesome" :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing memories you recall, Lou
@@loucostabile Thanks for the reply and vids.
Happy Holidays to you and yours.
I had a 68 cutlas s convertible, first car. I remember keeping an eye on John’s racing, because of the Oldsmobiles.

Hi GUERRO06, High praise for this episode :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Beautiful resto, awesome cam.
Hi Hans, Happy to read you appreciate the restoration of this car :-) Lou
Really nice resto on an awesome car. I know it would make it incorrect, but there is no way I could have helped myself and left that unlit block off plate in the clock hole when there are still rebuilt rallye gauges available with a tick tock tach.
I suppose this is why some of the really special rare cars like this are better off in the hands of guys like this guy.
Happy to read you enjoy this restoration, and thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts.
This tiger can growl. Beautiful car. Thank you.
Nice :-) You're welcome.
Wow!!!...only 508 Ram Rods awesome color combo very cool!!!and a 4spd.👍😁😎🌵

Another beautiful restoration Lou, you sure know how to find them 👍
Hi
lyonheart84 UK exotic fruit growing enthusiast, Happy to read you're enjoying the selections :-) Glad to read you appreciate this restoration, Lou
Fabulous car. Looks great in black. Thx Lou & the owner for sharing his beastly Olds. Very cool.

That is one nice nice Olds. Thanks for sharing Lou!
You're welcome Evan :-)
Super nice! I had a '68 Cutlass S back in the late '80's, but it wasn't a W31. Hard to believe it's only got a gas hand and speedometer. You'd think it would have had full gauges.
Hi Red 13. Happy to read you enjoy this "Super nice!" car :-) Glad to read you had a 68 Cutlass too, Lou
Absolutely gorgeous car. Love it. Thanks Lou.

Hi port nut, Happy to read "Classy looking runner just the way it is no mods needed." :-)
I remember this, great car! I miss the days when the American auto manufacturers would take a mundane car like a Cutlass, and turn it into an affordable supercar like the Ramrod, 442, 442 W-30 or Hurst Olds.
Hi
HWolfeIII, Glad to read this car / video brings back good memories :-) Stay tuned, I'll share more we'll both enjoy, Lou

I had one like this. A `69 5.7L dual carb. When I drove over one slightly undulating
highway bridge, the thing always swayed behind. It was fun on the straightaways
but slappy in - here often - tight curves. Good memories except its high gas
consumption. 21L/100KM!!!, therefore i sold it again.
Hi junkman, Happy to read this car / video brings back memories of your 69 :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
One of my all-time favorites.. super nice

Hi actes2210, Happy to read you enjoy this episode :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing a wonderful comment, Lou
Johnny Lightning made a special diecast for that car...I have one and so does my son
How cool is that !
Its a fact that 68 cutlass always outbest evrything in looks and all aspects, all it lacks is ""Lightning Rods""..
Nice :-)
Gorgeous 🤙🏻
:-)
I love how if you didn't click the clock option at the initial purchase, you got the face of a clock, minus the numbers on the right side of the instrument cluster. Kinda also surprised there were idiot lights in the dash instead of actual gauges, though again these may have been optional. Nevertheless a sweet machine and a fine work of automotive sculpture.
Hi Mike Vale, Thank you for viewing and sharing info on the details you noticed, Lou
Jason I have not....yet :-) If I see one with a Caretaker willing to share, you'll see that Oldsmobile too. Respect you too, Lou
You could say this is a fire runner for the 70 Cutlass Rallye 350...
Fore runner..
I meant fore runner.. Typo..
Yes, you're right.
I believe the Rallye 350s had Air induction like these did as well but the system scoops were on the hood like the 442s instead of under the front bumper like these W31s were...
Gorgeous!
I'm surprised there is no 'Tick-Tach'.
Hi Rick, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
@@loucostabile How can I not. My Dad purchased an 'S' model new with his profit sharing check in '68 and it's still in the family. Many fond memories for sure! Thanks for sharing.
I have a 1/64 69 Olds 442 by Johnny Lightning... I wouldn't mind finding this one in 1/64 since it such a unique car...
Hi Thomas, I understand Johnny Lightning make a limited edition one of these, so maybe eBay if it's available? Lou
This dude got the baddest fucking car out there n hit the gas n didn’t even smile or act impressed wtf that cut less had the best sound I ever heard on this channel besides that 70s purple cuda tribute yellow 63 cheetah hell I even think you checked out a bad ass 1970 Chevy biscayne the black 496 cl engine that’s when I started following you after that you get a good look at some of the best cars in the world I love your passion for cars bro keep it up

Lou Costabile my bad Lou much respect to you bro ✊
Anybody who doesn't like this car and color combo needs to be beaten with the jack handle. A time when American cars were great. Not anymore. Super job as always Lou. Merry Christmas.
Hi George Mattar, I love your comment of suggesting beating people with a jack handle and Merry Christmas all in the same comment :-) Merry Christmas, Lou
Interesting that it didn't have a Tach, especially considering it was built to drag race. Nice car, and excellent restoration.
Agreed, interesting that is missing. Glad to read you enjoy the restoration of this car :-)
Wow, thats an engine
Hi Kris Kirby, Happy to receive a "Wow" from you regarding this engine :-) Lou

'68's are the best looking......Olds 350 was quite a small block........W-31.....Cutlass Supreme bound 350 and the QB engine package......in 1970
Hi silvernail6, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Good news, there will be a few more 68's coming up, so stay tuned, Lou
Beautiful
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
Crazy question. I've read that those Ram Rods were spread out across S trims, F-85's, and Holidays.
The window sticker in the video shows Holiday Coupe, but the badges show it to be an S. I'm a Chevelle guy and only have a certain amount of Olds knowledge. Can anyone shed light on this car having the details I mentioned above? Could the car be denoted as both or only one of those trims?
Hi Justin, I'm no an Expert, and hoping a Viewer can share knowledge on your question, Lou
Wonderful Car. In the empty dash socket a Tach would be a better addition. It can always be removed later for a sale. But that way you don't blow up that Ram Rod Engine.
Hi Max, Happy to read you enjoy this "Wonderful" car :-) Good tip on the Tach, Lou
Winner Lou!
Thank you Joseph :-)
Farva would love this car !!!
