@@michellepernula872 yes! That rat poison makes them thirsty, so they usually vacate to get a drink & don’t make it back. Pretty harsh, but I’d rather do that than keep dealing with the rats :(

I wish we had this stuff in the early 70ies ......Im 66 almost 67 now no way i could do this now by myself.
Hi, we bought our five acres 40 years ago. We have dug up massive amounts of rock in order to live here and we are still are digging rocks. Any new flower beds put in are still a major undertaking. Since we are in our 70’s now it can be harder yet. Our garden is large but is all beds made from recycled materials. They are great beds and we have grown a lot of food over the years. Since deer are really thick here we have an 8 foot fence around our garden and some of my flower beds also. When you live in the Ozarks you have to adapt.
Wow, I can’t imagine being 40 years into this adventure, I’d imagine it goes faster than you can express. I’d love to put some of my down time into building stone raised beds, maybe next year we will get around to growing some food. ❤️ are you also in the Ozarks?

We put steel wool in mouse holes then seal them. Works good for mice. Just a suggestion. We can't use poison because of our fur babies 😊.

We didn’t mean to disappear, but that first trimester kicked my butt! I couldn’t think straight or concentrate for anything, it was the same way with Wade’s pregnancy. So glad to have it together now and be back in our favorite place!

Love it! We bought acreage at Lake Eufaula in Oklahoma. When we started we could only drive it in 4 wheel drive. Zero structures to start and now our house is 70 percent finished. Best decision we ever made. Besides the freaking scorpions!!! 😩

I'm confused
the right prebuilt toolshed makes for a great cabin and saves a lot of labor. time spent on infrastructure is always worthwhile. It's a good idea to tarp/paint your water barrell so it doesn't grow algae. Also, pex isn't rated for uv/ sunlight, so u might insulate, tape, or paint it. hopefully, you can get a powerbank solar generator sponsership, you might reach out to a few companies and see. just some suggestions, im sure you already knew all of this, and were doing testing/quick fixes to keep the kiddo happy. oh also you might consider an outhouse it may be easier to manage waste, but definitely keep the indoor potty for the kiddos.
I cannot wait to have a septic system! we just posted a new video & I think the new addition will get us pretty far toward that goal!

Make sure that you make a small but sealed closet for your waterheater so it doesn't have to work too hard in the winter.
Thanks for the tip! we built a little insulated box around it last fall but we didn't have the juice to run a little heat lamp, gotta make some serious improvements this year. not gonna be fun hitting those kinds snags with a fresh baby on board.
Saw your riffle hanging up on the wall ..we use to have a gun locker built out of wood and had it use head board
We are in Stone County. Guess how we got that name??? Now you know why when you drive through the Ozarks a you see so many fences that look like they are about to fall down. Try driving fence posts thru rock by hand.
lol I will not try driving fence posts by hand. Never 🤣!! I see all these cedar post fences and have to wonder who torched their shoulders and back doing that.

Hello again! I was so sick my first trimester and had brain fog like you wouldn’t believe. I couldn’t sit down to edit to save my life. We are so happy to be back, and be back at it! Excited to bring a new baby into the mix, hopefully with a lot more room to grow here ❤️

Ozarks, rocks; yep. I live at Lake of the Ozarks. Water tower..., what will you use to keep the water in the tank from freezing in the winter? Regarding hot water heater, you should be able to adjust the temp on your in-line water heater.

Have you thought about a well pressure tank for the water if some one hasn’t done munitioned it this first time I’ve seen video I’m over on south side of Bull shoals lake in boone co arkansas
You should cover your water tank so Algae from growing in your tank
When bending what ever you are bending take a propane torch and heat up where your are bending, will work better for you .

lol had to get creative there! Ordering to someone else’s house (who it takes a week to get to as well) and coordinating pickup was a new experience for us 😅

Couldn’t help but notice that you didn’t put a p trap under your kitchen sink.
We actually didn’t add anything under the sink, we just connected a faucet and ran the lines in. The sink has a washout behind the cabin… straight pipe from the drain hole to the forest floor

Not sure your power situation. But if you have electricity, you could use heat tape to keep water line from freezing. I hope your exterior mounted hot water tank won't freeze during winter months.
the couple of times we had big freezes there was nothing we could do to keep the water from freezing. we didn't have enough power in our set up to run little heat lamp or anything, and our water heater hub was fully insulated. but... top of the list in our budgeting for the year was a legitimate solar kit!!

I was wondering why you guys weren't up loading any videos.
Fair! I was so sick in my first trimester, and the brain fog was unbelievable. I could hardly sit down and pay attention enough to get through basic tasks. We recorded a LOT of what we got done in prep for coming back here, and I’m sure I’ll edit that and show you guys soon, but it just wasn’t possible for me in the first trimester.

Just buy a bent curtain rod from local hardware store?
Totally would have, but they don’t bend enough and this just fits a whole lot better. Plus we really wanted to get the whole tub surrounded to keep the heat in while you’re showering

It’s significantly up hill, we were hoping to get away without a pump but it’s just not high enough. We will probably be raising it here soon!

If you’re talking turn down the back ground music to actually back ground music.
Narration doesn’t work if the music is as loud or louder than the narration.
