There are tons of opportunity out there and many choose not to use it so why should we allow them to do as they please? Cleaning human waste from behind my home has become a regular part of my life now.... why?
Every city is dealing with this. ABQ has so much more to deal with the other places. There is no answer unless there is a department trying to work things out. Stay safe out there.
Hey that's DJ Baldonado! So he says no matter what the city does or has done, the homeless problem simply isn't going away, so he and many others have had to simply get used to it and work around it. Unless our city and taxes house these individuals somehow, they will continue to be homeless on our streets. Especially if our city continues to push them out of already dilapidated parks such as Coronado Park or even Phil Chacon Park in the War Zone aka International District. At least they had a place to go and weren't forced out onto the streets to try to find somewhere else to go. I've never been to Coronado Park and don't know anyone here from Albuquerque who says, "Hey, let's go hang out at Coronado Park today!" Maybe a few skateboarders once skated there, but it's not the best skatepark either. And they recently shut down and started construction at Phil Chacon Park so it's fenced off now. But construction halted months ago so now no one has access to the park and it's a complete eyesore the way the city has left it. They made it look worse than it was. The spot right at the underpass at 1st St. has no use and simply takes up wasted space. Why not allow the homeless to gather there since that's where they already are? Simply open up a small portion of the fencing as a way in and out so police can lock it down if the situation calls for it due to violent crimes within their own Tent City. What else is that spot good for besides a waste of space? Even if we tried to house them, most of them want to be and like being on the streets with others in their similar situation. It's sad and will take a lot of time, energy, and work to try to correct this issue permanently.
Just keep giving them free food, drugs, needles, clothes, tents, crack pipes and safe spaces yeah that will solve the issue and make them want to better their lives😂

try going just on central,I see cops just pass by so many homeless that are doing drugs on bus stops and just everywhere.Good luck Albuquerque, but this is just the beginning of a city that's getting out of control. So thank all the police.
Maybe they should build a lot for them they just wanna hang out it keep them in one place instead of scatter everywhere.some don't need help.thats there life style...
Unfortunately most of this people just want to be left alone doing their drugs , it's sad for the choice they make ....and we taxpayers are picking up the tab , I wouldn't even know the solution ,but there's elderly that can't afford meds and food, just saying some resources need to be allocated for people that wanted and need it!
GREATLY expand addiction treatment, mental health, and temporary shelter programs for them! They need treatment. Once there is enough program capacity for all the homeless rather than a few at a time currently, then I believe the city is legally allowed to enforce the no camping no camping and panhandling rules since there is the capacity is there to support them. Homelessness would be significantly reduced!
Housing first works. It will at least keep them and the drugs off the street and you can give them the help and services they need to be clean and stay off the streets.
Dragon morph off the streets putting in a boot camp and in one year you can transform these creatures and you don't get to quarrel about you do it or go to jail
I walked by here many times going to the Rock at noonday, they should let the homeless have an area, as long as they stay there, fair deal! My heart goes out to them, I'm sure I know a few of them, they made the choice, let them have the pigeon filled underpass, as long as they don't cross that line leave'em.
I believe the correct term is “unhoused”. Not homeless. They have rights, too. Treat them with respect. All drug use is medicinal. I hope to bake sourdough focaccia for the unhoused. I will bring it to here. Thanks.
No... sometimes drugs are just for fun but when i see them freebasing fent next to the old lady at the bus stop then I prefer the term "street urchin" for most of them because they get as much respect as they give.
Weird, I ride the bus all the time. Haven’t seen open drug use. Even if I did, I wouldn’t assume to know what they’re using, or what conditions they’re medicating for. I’m not a doctor. I wouldn’t give you free sourdough focaccia if you paid for it. You’re the problem, not the people trying to survive you. Stop victim blaming. @@floki-man I have read many posts on nextdoor and other sites about fentanyl addicts smoking fentanyl in buses. However, I read they started kicking them out, and even calling APD, so they sort of stabilized it. I don't ride bus, but I commute daily on Central, and almost every bus stop is full of addicts smoking fentanyl day and night. I bet they still try smoking it in buses along Central but could be wrong.
STOP giving them money. STOP giving them food. DON'T encourage them. DON'T give them free sh*t. Make them start begging for work.
The city shut the camp down, but continues to use that spot as a pick up spot.
Nah that makes sense.
Get help or get buried. The people that keep the city alive through business and taxes are sick of this.
Whats your solution then?

Thanks for keeping an eye on this.
Blow some taxes on a few new government programs that don’t actually help anyone. Keep doing the same ol things. Keep the scam going.
Yes, that is basically what the blue no matter who lady being interviewed said. More investment $$$$ will fix it 😂
Very dangerous during dark hours.
Drop off 55 gallon drums of pure fentanyl.

The homeless need to learn spanish then go cross the border then they can get everything.
The real problem with these homeless and anyone for that matter is that they need Jesus to heal their hearts and minds which never gets addressed

We should do for our homeless as much as we do for illegals, food and shelter.
Yes! No papers no fear! Sanctuary city love!!
Change the system. It’s not working. Offer treatment to the homeless. If they refuse treatment, they go to jail.
If ‘The Homeless Encampment’ is relocated to the overpass, traffic flow will take care of the problem.
