@@megaman161 I read somewhere that the old lady was shooting "across" and Angel shot the plant vase "down" just like in the crossword she was solving. Honestly, there's always small details to go back to in this movie!
You know what's hilarious was I never saw a single trailer for this film, knew nothing about it except the title, and about 30 minutes in assumed it was a quiet independent film like The Grand Budapest Hotel. Which I was okay with. And then it picked up a bit. Possibly the most fun I've had watching a movie.
I only watch it because it was Made by the same guy who Made Shaun of the dead. And not only it was as great as shaun, it was even better. I think the best out of the trilogy.
Agreed on every point. I can't help but smile, because he's always told that Police Work isn't as exciting as it is in the movie, and then this climax comes around...
Wait really no one died at all I dont remember it like that but to be honest that sounds ridiculous considering the injuries given including that doctor since he should of bled to death from getting his foot shot like that
1:20 - First they take out the villian from 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'. 2:05 - Then they take out the villain from 'The Legend of Zorro'. Lmao. I love this movie.
It's even better when you realize that she shot him *_across_* the market place and he shot the flower pot *_down_* onto her, mirroring the crossword scene. Edgar Wright is a madman and a genius.
All these years, and I just picked up on the fact that Edward Woodward, who plays Mr. Weaver, is the actor who played the police sergeant in The Wicker Man (1972), a movie also about anpoloce sergeant who goes to a remote area and encounters a murderous cult. Brilliant homage!
Simon Pegg isn't just an actor in this amazing scene, he is a big part of creatively conceiving of it, along with the movie itself. Fuckin' talented dude...
When you're in Wells, Somerset and you realise halfway through your visit that it is location of this film, then your trip becomes infinitely more interesting
You two do realise he said "parody". CoD is so overblown and dumb nowadays if they upped the ridiculous a bit and didn't take it seriously you could have a very funny game. I'd love something with a level like this!

Earlier in the film, after the Romeo and Juliet performance, Simon Skinner tells Angel that the understudies Greg and Sheri are professional actors. At 0:36, we see the extent of their "professional" acting when Sheri acts like she's been brutally shot with her overdramatic fall and scream 😂 Little things like that make Edgar Wright films so freaking fun to watch. I love it.
TRIVIA: The woman shouting "FASCIST!" and firing the machine gun is Billie Whitelaw, a three-time BAFTA winner and one of England's most acclaimed actors in the 20th century thanks to her longtime collaboration with playwright Samuel Beckett. This scene where Whitelaw fires the machine gun was the final scene of her 53-year career in movies, and she did not tell anyone she was retiring until she told Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright the day of the shoot.
Damn I love this movie. What starts out as a very British murder mystery somehow mutates into an action spectacular that blows up half of Gloucestershire. Only in the Cornetto trilogy!
I like how in this fight scene they are all using very old weapons. A sword, a revolver, an old fully automatic rifle, it's a great way to show how stuck in the past they are and unwilling to accept the modern times

I think Hot Fuzz is the best one out of all the trilogies, and I'll tell you why. It's a film I could watch OVER and OVER again, it's just pretty much a PERFECT of a film as you can make it and it's Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost at their very BEST. It's a spoof on every Hollywood action movie, and has an epic soundtrack. And lastly, I saw it again after years, and I STILL find small hidden gems in the backgrounds, dialog and within the characters (f.ex: The old woman yelling Fascist, while firing a Austrien MP3) XD. my fav quote was "oh fuck off grasshopper"
They made a practical-joke censored version of every swear for the DVD release - and one of the "Changes" was the reverend screams "Peas and Rice!"
Plus, the actor was also a Jewish Rabbi whose head exploded and a purple villain who was thrown into the path of a comet.
This has the perfect number of thumbs-up.
Typical Belloq.
I like how the incorporated the "Fascist" "Hag" joke into this scene.
The Callback, one of the oldest and most effective tools of comedy.
