That's the nod to the earlier scene where two Andys were mocking Nicholas if they're supposed to go through phone book searching for suspects and they mentioned Aaron A. Aaronson as a first one there 🙂
By the end of the movie, Danny had done everything he asked Angel if he'd ever done: - fired two guns whilst jumping through the air - fired one gun whilst jumping through the air - been in a high speed pursuit - fired a gun whilst in a high speed pursuit And of course... - fired his gun in the air and gone "AAAAAAHHHH"
0:26 I like how they included a quick shot of the gun smashing into the toy building with the sound of glass breaking, just as if it was a car crashing into an actual building
It’s referenced at the start too. “Have you ever fired you’re gun in the air and gone arrrrrrr.” “No I have never fired my gun in the air and gone ahhhhhh!”
When Skinner drops his gun at the start of the fight it destroys the model version of his supermarket. I love edgar Wright his movies are full of little things like that.
what's cool about this scene is that there is a payoff to a pretty subtle plotline throughout hot fuzz. ... and maybe everybody noticed it but me but i'm going to talk about it anyways. at the start of hot fuzz, we get told that nicholas was stabbed through the hand by santa shoutout to santa. in a few scenes throughout the movie, he's shown exercising with a grip-strength, uh, thingy, to keep his hand in a healthy condition. during the fight skinner overpowers nick by twisting that same hand and bringing him down. but that exercising he'd done throughout the movie paid off, because he gets his own back!
You could also say that Nicolas was startled by Skinner charging at him with a knife, revealing a fear of knives, his Achilles heel.. Up until this point he dealt with everything else thrown at him with courage and conviction.
Cinematic brilliance. Despite being old enough to be Simon Pegg's grandad, Dalton totally sells the scene, and is absolutely kick-ass. And after working for a summer as a stocker in a grocery store, him pulling a box cutter from his pocket before going after Angel made me laugh like no other. I remember being sad when Dalton hit the steeple, then I was relieved when Dalton starts talking again and you see he hasn't died.
He also as an hilarious parody role of himself in Looney Tunes Back in action and was good in The tourist, one of the best parts of that movie was his performance. Also he was really great in The rockeeter
I always liked how Nicholas Angel goes out of his way to make sure none of the crooks die. By the books cop, no vigilante justice, they're going to jail. He upholds the law through and through. Probably my favorite Simon Pegg character honestly.
I'm so glad they hit on every action movie style in this movie, including the kaiju movies (the reason for fighting in a model village). The only style they missed was kung fu action, which would have come across as shoehorned in this movie.
Thank you Edgar Wright for HOT FUZZ and casting Timothy Dalton. No matter who he portrays, he the best. Grand comedy! Love the Village...THE PRISONER style! ¬ Janet Thompson Deaver
1:33 Earlier in the movie, one of the Andy's mocks Angel by saying something like, "Why don't you call everyone in the phone book, starting with Aaron A. Aaronson?"
Fã De Games Craig is a good Bond, but he’s way behind Connery and Dalton. The latter should of done more Bond movies if it weren’t for the lawsuit between MGM, United Artists and Danjaq in the early 90’s.
I just think it's great that earlier in this movie they make fun of Point Break for having such a ridiculous scene where a good guy can't bring himself to shoot a bad guy because the good guy loves him too much, only to find a scenario where such behavior is an appropriate response to the situation. Edgar Wright is a genius
I love how the final three villain defeats in this movie actually turn out to be accidents. Skinner slipping on the truck, Inspector Frank with the goose, and Tom Weaver tripping on the sea mine.
Have you ever fired your gun up in the air and gone "aaaah"?
+TheHD345 you do do what I do!
What on earth do you think you're missing out on?!
Police work is not about proper action. Or shit!
If you'd paid attention to me in school, you'd understand that it's not all about gun fights and car chases.
TheHD345 that was brilliant
The way the kid says Aaron Aaronson and Simon’s “sorry?“ always cracks me up 😄
Nicholas' sorry*
Edit: Oh, you mean Simon Pegg. I thought you meant Simon Skinner 😅
@The Man who loves Food Lol
That's the nod to the earlier scene where two Andys were mocking Nicholas if they're supposed to go through phone book searching for suspects and they mentioned Aaron A. Aaronson as a first one there 🙂
Actually, he said "Aaron A. Aaronson.
At what point do you think Pegg thought, "Holy crap! I'm fighting James Bond?"
He DOES realize it, in interviews-- 'I was fighting James Bond! And *I was winning*!'
If Dalton was the good guy in this, he totally would've won. He will always be the best James Bond to me.
@@ackbarfan5556
Underrated but second to Roger Moore.
Dylan Counts he was a great bond closest we have had to the book imo

Classic Edgar Wright writing, eh?
@@tazdivil6527 Edgar Wrighting one might say
Bang! Bang!
Finally Danny got to fire a gun up in the air and go AAAAHHHHH
No, I've never fired my gun up in the air and gone 'aaaaaah'

Point Break. Airport shootout.
same scene as in another movie tafuq
Why are his movies so bloody, it like the British version of Die Hard.
"it really hurts." First time I saw this me and my roommate died laughing so much.

xD

I take it you both lost your shit when you saw that.

0:26 I like how they included a quick shot of the gun smashing into the toy building with the sound of glass breaking, just as if it was a car crashing into an actual building
And it was a model replica of Somerfield, Skinner's supermarket, absolutely fantastic.
I find it ironic that one of the people who've killed people and made them look like accidents ended up on actual accidents themselves.
+adoboisnotwhite it karma man they had it coming
On top of that he was the one who impaled the guy with the church steeple. Now he's the one to be impaled by a church steeple.
A very poetic fate.
Not to mention that the excuse they will always give as the accident is they slip and impale themselves. Know he slips and impale himself.
There's a car crash right after this scene too.
I lost it when the swan attacked the lieutenant and made him crash.
It's actually the (rogue) Head of the Sandford Police Force.
TomTheEpicRobloxian Inspector*;)
TomTheEpicRobloxian Also, service* because as Sergeant Angel said, "Force implies the police to be less friendly".
SWAAAAAAAAAN!!!!
Notice it breaks his arm and one of the Andys said earlier a swan could break a man’s arm 😂
Skinner falling on the model church tower is just one of those moments where you wince and laugh at the same time
I did laugh.
I did wince.
That point break reference at the end was really funny.
So masterfully done as well. It was hysterical.

Very perceptive!
Edgar Wright is off the fukkin chain!
Also the subtle nod to Angel's "extracurricular activities" from the start of the film, when he uses a Judo throw on Skinner
You could also say that Nicolas was startled by Skinner charging at him with a knife, revealing a fear of knives, his Achilles heel.. Up until this point he dealt with everything else thrown at him with courage and conviction.
It’s a safe bet most others didn’t notice that.

That he does it in a way where it seems like he could pull a gun initially only makes it funnier.
Absolutely brilliant, indeed.
But there's completely no way Dalton could be Simon Pegg's granddad- the age difference is 24 years😁
So Dad, then.

He did play James bond back in the day
"STAY BACK!..... or the ginger nut gets it!" I died laughing😂😂😂

how about Jack Jackson, or Dan Daniels?
Max Power And Norman Price from Fireman Sam as Aaron Aaronson is really a spitting image of him

Fã De Games Craig is a good Bond, but he’s way behind Connery and Dalton. The latter should of done more Bond movies if it weren’t for the lawsuit between MGM, United Artists and Danjaq in the early 90’s.
Jim Broadbent usually plays nice old men, and Timothy Dolton is most famous for being Bond.
