People like Rob and Rob himself need to be the face of how we halt climate change and live simpler because most climate change alarmists are celebrities who fly private jets all over the world and own multiple mansions they never use. Celebrities were the reason I became complete apathetic to my impact on the environment but knowing people like Rob exist gives me hope.

I appreciate Rob's work. Personally last year I used the free seed pack, in my tiny apartment. My kids enjoyed the humble harvest we got. This year we planted even more in our limited window space. Everyone can do a little.

Fortunately the older I become, the less I care what others think. Three cheers to you, little brother! I’m in the process of “the downsize.”Very interested in your food forest idea, living off-grid, sprouts and micro-greens, etc. Carry on! (And thank you)

"You can only be you, you can only be where you are, you can only be when you are" ... Man that's more inspiring than stuff my therapist has told me! I love it! Keep doing what you're doing!
(Also let's hear it for us Jewish Greenfields from Wisconsin! lol)

Thank you for the constant inspiration!
I've made so many changes in the past year once I started watching the same types of documentaries I'm sure. My front and back yard are now the beginnings of a food forest, and I'm trying to grow as much food as I possibly can to escape that industrial system.
So thankful for you and all of the other youtubers who have offered guidance and a clear path forward!!! 💚💚💚

This was such a great talk and thought provoking. I have had leukemia in the past and learnt that material possessions are or not so important. Of course your basic needs need to be met but apart from that love, relationships with others, following your talents/passions and your physical and mental health are essential. Really enjoyed the video!! An interesting book I can recommend about communities is The Lonely Century written by Noreena Hertz.

I would argue that the single biggest step we can take is to take back your own power from those who borrow/steal it and use it for themselves.
Much like Rob has done- don't let governments, businesses, or other organizations use your power in bad ways for their benefit.

    Re: INDIVIDUAL vs COMMUNITY ☯️
first off- it is about balance. individuals can exist independent of communities. But communities cannot exist without individuals. From that understanding we have to respect individuals above society.
But we are social creatures, and being part of a community is essential for the health of almost every person.
You touched on the concept really well earlier in the presentation when you talked about if things benefit the earth, society, **AND** yourself personally.
Many horrible things have been done throughout history using "benefiting society" as an excuse to ignore or cause harm at the level of individuals. For something to be good for a community it *also* has to be good for the individuals in society.
Understanding the #nonaggressionprinciple has really helped me see how this balance can be achieved.

I like and use the term low waste to describe myself. I feel zero waste is not an accurate term as I will always make some kind of waste as long as I am living.

    • @dustinabc
      @dustinabc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Ya, when people say zero waste i feel like they are marketing something.
We should be careful in how we use and consume resources, but "waste" can mean many things.
In a healthy ecosystem everything is creating "waste"- it just is balanced out so that other parts of the system benefit from the waste.

Hey Rob Love you Bro. You do amazing things and I hope one day I am able to make it to Ashville. I am back in Dubai was not able to make my trip to Ashville in Feb but I will make it next time. This all sounds very good. As long as it's also means cheap. The way the economy is going. We can all mark off 2022 already. And I'm sure that next year isn't going to be a lot better. Sustainability and living green is a good goal. But, the bottom line will always be economy. 🌲💰💸

Re: VALUE, or the question does this bring me value?
In human society we discovered tools that helps us exchange value and measure value in economic terms- money and prices.
One on the reasons society is so messed up is because the money system has been hijacked by central bankers and crony politicians.
Their abuse of #FiatCurrency creation causes a distortion of value perception.
It becomes difficult to measure value when the currency in society becomes undependable. people change their behavior, shifting toward short term thinking. Ideas liked #PlannedObsolescence and consumerism work a lot better when people see their money losing value over time. Which happens as the central planners steal value from our money through controlled inflation.
Learning about the federal reserve and other central banks has helped me understand why the system is set up unsustainably.
Over consumption is a problem, but it's more like a side effect of the root problems.
