Incredible video, months of work for 22 minutes, epic, you deserve many likes, the result was fabulous, your analysis is perfect, I've been a fan since 1986, I wish you much success in your personal and professional life.
Back in 1983 I saw him with Alcatraz at a small club in Huntington Beach, California. I was blown away by his technique, speed and fretboard fire! He was amazing. He is to this date my favorite guitarist. I can't play like him but I still love everything he does, and as you said, especially the 80's when he was ON FIRE. Thanks for this video. It was clearly a labor of love and you rocked it. Cheers!
Absolutely incredible, my friend. I'm a fellow guitarist and I appreciate how much time and effort went into this. I first got into Yngwie in high school around '04. Saw him live around that time.. Cleveland Ohio, middle of winter, 10 degrees out and snowing. We waited outside for 2 hours and were 3rd in line at this really tiny club. Got to the front row and just held onto the barricade through the opening acts. FINALLY Yngwie came on and I was 6 feet away from him the whole show. It was awesome. I caught 2 of his picks and gave the guy behind me one haha. Keep on rockin, brother. Excellent video.
Wow, that sounds like you had an awesome time. I saw him here in Australia in the '90's and although I didn't catch a pick, it was an ASTOUNDING show..... cheers mate.
That was fab.Not listened to YM for ages, yet this reminded me so much of him - you definitely captured his essence. Good job - educational and entertaining👍👍
Comprehensive, Insightful, and inspiring... One of the most amazing TH-cam music lessons I have ever watched (I must admit it literally kept me glued to the screen until the end). Thank you Andrew!
BRAVO, MY FRIEND! BRAVO! I've been playing guitar for almost 14 years. I have been to an Yngwie workshop (actually, it was a "workshow" actually haha), and I also can shred some of his stuff. But really, you did an astounishing job! You really took the Yngwie apprentice to a whole new dimension! Your craft is remarkable! Not only the playing, but how you really dive into the theory and how you explain it! NOT TO MENTION, THE GREAT PRESENTATION OF THE VIDEO! The tabs, the music sheet, the circle of fifths. You really took your time to master and give us this masterpiece. This video is a state-of-the-art when it comes about guitar lessons. And you gave it to us for free, that's admirable too! You, Andrew, desirve your place among the demigods of guitar. I have a feel that you will get it. Again, bravo, my friend!
Thank you so much you expressing your support. I really appreciate it. I'm glad that all the information was both entertaining and useful for you. Sorry for the late response btw.
Thank you very much for the video and the music. My past is a bit the same as yours. I used to play guitar (Self taught and know nothing about music theories) and listen to Guns N' Roses, and then one day I discovered Yngwie. I listened to his music and I love how it sounds so classical and metal in the same time. His "Concerto Suite for Electric Guitar and Orchestra in E Flat Minor, Opus 1" album gave me the heart to learn classical piano (Which is something I wanted to do for a long time but didn't had the chance to when I was a kid) Now I have been learning classical piano for nearly 2 years, I learnt the music theories and finally have the ability to understand the beauty of his work. I'm looking forward to play them on both piano and guitar. Again, thank you very much for the video and also the music. Keep up the good work and let more people know about his music!
Thank you su much for your support. I Really appreciate it and it motivates me to keep working and making these videos, 🙏 it’s nice to hear you learned the piano inspired by his music. I also felt really inspired by his concerto suit. For a long time it kept me motivated to learn music and appreciate the musicality of his work. Thank you again 😃
Impresionante todo hermano...La dedicación que le pusiste a la edición,el sonido,el humor,la composición,la técnica,el felling.Tenes todo Andrew... Abrazo desde Argentina.
I discovered him in 1985 when, I was introduced to his music by my guitar Instructor Neil Zaza. He forever raised the bar for guitarist everywhere! Just like EVH before him and Jimi before then. That is my top 3 list of guitarists. Seen Yngwie many times over the decades and just saw him on 05/14/22 at the Odean in Cleveland, Ohio. Liked the first 12-15 albums the best! but, even the newest Yngwie will always be better than any new Pop song! LOL You wrote a great song in the neoclassical style. Great Job it is awesome! Thank You!
Absolutely awesome. Educational approach. Amazing piece, thank you. Soldiers without Faith still gives me goose bumps everytime. Love the Yngwie sound.. 🙏🏼
Excellent job, great composition, breakdown and finished track.....well done. I first heard about Yngwie through my collection of guitar magazines which ( for guitar player) go back as far as 1967. I began collecting around 1975 onwards, and it was there that I heard of him. I was one of the first people in my country (New Zealand), to order his, and many other featured artists first albums, including many of their influences albums too. His style was, and still is brilliant, and it was an exciting time with many great players emerging. His influence, as well as others of the time....most notably Edward Ludwig Van Halen.....and not long after, Steve Vai, so it was incredible for a young.....then..lol....aspiring guitar player. I saved hard for my first stratocaster, a 1970 maple neck standard/w tremolo, then replaced the neck pickup with a dimarzio HS 1 (the series Yngwie uses are the HS 3 I believe), and replaced the whammy with a Kahler tremolo......thus beginning my luthierie apprenticeship. At the same time, I got my first Marshall amp, a 2550 25th anniversary 50 watt head and 2 4x12 cabs in silver Rolex. I also got a Roland GP100, top of their line multi fx units, controller and expression pedals. Now own around 70 guitars, acoustics and electrics, and 10 amps, (5 of them Marshalls.....got to converse with Jim Marshall himself, via letters, he was cool!). Still playing....an eternal student of an instrument that still takes my breath away. Really enjoyed Yngwie on the Satriani inspired G3 video with Steve Vai....all inspirational and exceptionally gifted and talented artists. I often use a wide vibrato like Yngwie, as well as counterpoint, sweeps and diminished runs.....unfortunately, nowhere near Yngwies incredibly clean speed, but fortunately for me, I learnt from Van Halen, Rhandy Rhoads, Stanley Jordan, Jennifer Batten, Steve Vai, Steve Lynch and Joe Satriani......to two handed tap. Anyway, really enjoyed your video, hope all is well for you, and pray God bless and protect you and your family.
Hi Jabba!! thank you so much for your support and for telling us your experiences!! it's fascinating to read your story I can't imagine how would have been living in that time when they where becoming the most influential guitar players ever. It's crazy to hear all that gear you have that must be fun to have such diverse options on guitar and amps. I also remember working hard to get my first fender Strat (and the only one I have😅) I also consider myself as an eternal Student!! :D I wish you the best!!
Phenomenal work Andrew. What a joy to watch, all the way through. I dare say few have understood the Master as well as you. Positively BEGGING you to write an entire album in the vein of "Phantom Shred". Absolutely starved for someone who can pick up from Yngwie circa 1992... great work man - very moved.
Wow, this video gives a lot of information and inspiration. I never knew so much about Yngwie, but I‘m quite impressed by his knowledge. Thanks for making this video!
I have been listening to Malmsteen since 2003 I used to listen everyday and download everything I could while I was on university to listen while I was studying. I don't even play guitar and I understand and recognizer all the stuff you said like is part of my life. I even studied the way Jens Johansson plays and has lots of Bach and Swedish folk mix that I discovered by pure listening and listening to several bandas and medieval classic and folk styles. I realized music is part of my life like breathing and I don't even play instruments. I will have to try someday. And you inspire us listeners to be players
Thank you so much for your comment and sharing your story with me!! some times it's is not necessary to play any instrument to enjoy and appreciate every detail in a musical piece!!!
Wow what a fun video. You really captured the essence of Yngwies playing. I believe Yngwie himself would be proud of that piece you put together. I think Black Star was the first tune I heard I heard from him back in '86 when a friend threw on his Rising Force album. I was pretty floored and became an instant fan. Soon after I went out and picked up the Trilogy album and saw him in concert. During the whole set, he was having trouble with one of his pedals and kept kicking it on stage lol. But he was still amazing.
I can see the amount of work you put in to this. Really enjoyed the video and I will certainly try to learn the licks. Thanks for the slowed down versions of them, will give that a try.
Amazing job Andrew. The 1st time I heard Yngwie was in high school and Jeff Scott Soto was still his singer. I wasn't even sure if I was hearing a guitar, he completely blew me away. I literally would not be the player I am today without his influence. That being said, you have done a much better job than most of us hacks, keep playing brother, you have amazing talents.
Awesome video. Your story is very similar to mine, I discovered Yngwie in the same time you did, and got obsessed. I transcribed so many of his songs and learnt a lot abot his style, about music in general and composition, the difference is that I never seriously applied what I've learned like you did, I understand his music, his process and can play some of it, but not at a good level, but I'm happy for what I got doing this for so many years. Now I switched to piano which is my main instrument, but sometimes I play guitar and still listen to Yngwie. I also scalloped my guitar by myself (I did a tutorial video on how to scallop a guitar here on youtube, but now is private). Anyway, great content and good job.
thank you for your comment and for appreciating my work, as far as I know is not that easy work to scallop a neck. its brave of you to doing it. thank you for sharing your story with me and everyone!!!
What an absolutely well constructed video. The research and tedious work behind this I’m sure was a massive effort. You broke down every step of the process logically giving a great insight into the style of Yngwie Malmsteen. What must be said though is that you did it with your “own” emotion which shines straight through. To top it off, you have a great sense of humour which really cuts through and makes the whole video a real joy to watch. Love the Paper Stallion on the back end of the acoustic. A shining example to all guitarists everywhere. Thank you. J
Another musician and Yngwie "fan" here... This is soooo on the nose. And it's great dissection into what makes him the maestro. He lives and breathes those influences and that music. Thus people don't really want to even try and imitate him even if it would be great education into what great composers have to teach us. Very nice!
Absolutely wonderful composition! I really enjoyed your video, explaining the process. I am just starting to learn some Yngwie. I’ve subscribed. Thank you!
As a long time Yngwie fan (for over 35 years now) all I can say is WOW! Really impressive work: research, presentation, production, execution. Congratulations for a really amazing video!
I have been listening to Yngwie Malmsteen since 1985. This September coming, I finally get to see him in concert! You did an awesome job on this video!
Just amazing job, your dedication and love to his music, which is for me one of the greatest from all eras, the Bach influenced like Yngwie's mixed with Rock... Your way off presenting the video was nice, too, and the song, just...man! You must be heard by YM himself... Would surely love this... I love al YM music, since his beggining, some Lps more than others, but, Oddysey is my best, by now, and, his last one, Parabellum, is unbelievable, seems he has put all of him, his knowledge of guitar and techniques, but most of all, his inspiration, to make this work, as great as ever... I was very happy to see , he's enthusiastic as a teen .. Really appreciate your song, please keep the great plauying and the love for music!
Hi Andrew, this is the first video from your channel that I've seen and it's great!!! Your dedication, technique, talent and inspiration at your age is of respect and admiration. CONGRATULATIONS!!! By the way the Ferrari logo and the pickup was great!!! 1000 likes and I subscribe
Bravo!! I'm a drummer that loves great guitarist like yngwie and yourself. I was enlightened and inspired by your hard work putting this together.thank you!!
Impressive work, greetings from Brazil. I also got to know Yngwie Malmsteen's work at a Lan house. It took me a while to appreciate and understand this guitarist's genius and inventiveness.
This was incredible! I love your presentation. I was so inspired by your work as a fellow Malmsteen fan, I truly appreciate your composition and explanations and break downs to Yngwie's style. Especially from the 80s era, which is also my person al favorite era of the Maestro. I think his work in Alcatrazz displayed his genius in song composition as well and his phrasing was superb! His earlier work and earlier albums had a lot of magic. I first Heard Yngwie on classical FM radio station. It was an acoustic track from his Rising Force Album back then. But I had no idea who he was, or that that piece of music came from a record that had a lot of heavy rock playing, or that it was even from a guitar virtuoso who had just landed in the USA only a year earlier! I thought it was some old man playing a lovely acoustic guitar piece since most musicians on that radios station were older classical musicians. LOL! Then My Uncle who introduced me to him told me more about him. And we bought the cassette tape of Rising Force, followed by Marching Out. I never could even imagine myself playing one note of that music. it seemed to be impossible and from another world!
Thank you for your support! :D I can't imagine what it would have been like to discover him on the radio at that time. Nowadays, you can find all kinds of videos online, but back then, I believe just hearing him without knowing who in the world this person was. that would have been an experience! Thank you for sharing your story!
Vaya. Excelente trabajo!! No esperaba que estuviera tan bueno, sinceramente, el estilo de Malmsteen nunca me pareció la gran cosa. Muchas gracias por esto!! Abriste mis ojos jajaj Excelente contenido.
I discovered Yngwie in 2000 through my friend, he basically said "this is something like Helloween" and handed me a copy of Magnum Opus and it's still my favourite Malmsteen album to this day. His 80's era was his heyday, his biggest rise to fame, but there's something special in his mid 90's albums to me, something about his tone and his musical ideas. His concert back in 2001 was also my very first rock/metal gig I went to (one of the first gigs after Jorn Lande left the band mid-tour and Mark Boals was called in to come back to rescue). His recent work especially since 2008's Perpetual Flame is a disgrace. Ego gone wrong. Not only because lack of inspiration and creativity, but especially because lack of good sound & production. I like the analystic approach you applied here, the video is also very well structured and edited, understandable even to music laics. I also find it fun to dissect songs by some artists and try to copy their style or understand their musical vision and genius.
Thank you for your comment and support. also for sharing your story, is interesting how people differ on wich was the last "good" album of YJM, I like all his work from 80s / 90s and some albums from his 2000s like Attack and Angels of Love. but, sice he is usog his own label "Rising force" there's a lack of creativity (From my perspective) and I feel those albums became an excuse for touring. I like some recent somgs though, and maybe I wont lisent more than a few times.
Andrew! What a great job you have DONE, both musically and the presentation. Very entertaining. FULLY CREATIVE. You are awesome. Thanks for sharing your approach. Hope to see more neoclassical compositivo from you. The first time I met Yngwie was in 2006. My head explode for the sounds, the progression, the licks, the speed, it was astounding. Tja ls for sharing your story. Yngwie change for many of us the way we see, hear and play the guitar. THANKS AKDREW!
Thanks for creating this amazing video! I enjoyed every second of it and I think your composition is very creative and tasteful. I've been a fan of Yngwie for more than a decade, but with the help of TH-cam content creators like you in the recent years I've finally been able to figure out the ins and outs of his playing. If anything, it just makes me appreciate his work even more.
Is there a chance you can show how to make a drums like that? It's something that I search on internet but no one can explain in details. It would be nice!
I Use EzDrummer 2. I recommend you to twist/play a bit with the samples and create a new set/sound. i'll check if there's a way to export the preset I used.

Thank you. J
Thank you Julian!! It really was a long and extensive project. I'm glad that you enjoyed it. That motivates me to keep working on more content.
Great stuff man! Love the neoclassical stuff!
Another musician and Yngwie "fan" here... This is soooo on the nose. And it's great dissection into what makes him the maestro. He lives and breathes those influences and that music. Thus people don't really want to even try and imitate him even if it would be great education into what great composers have to teach us.
Very nice!
Thank you for your comment!!
Absolutely wonderful composition! I really enjoyed your video, explaining the process. I am just starting to learn some Yngwie. I’ve subscribed. Thank you!
Best Yngwie's instrumental piece after 1990... Wonderful job and thanks for sharing... Maestro!
Thank you so much for this video! This will help me so much in song writing

I have been listening to Yngwie Malmsteen since 1985. This September coming, I finally get to see him in concert! You did an awesome job on this video!
Thank you so much for your comment, Jeff!!!
@@Andrew-Roz you're welcome!
Awesome video! Quality, good sound and very good instruction. Thanks for the effort!
Por favor sigue con esta serie. Gracias por hacerlo de mi guitarrista favorito.
Mcuash Gracias Jose!!! 🙏
I have been following your music for a while now...No one I have seen play YJM better and more precise than you...cheers. Love from Bangladesh.

Thank you for your support Joseph!!
@@Andrew-Roz your welcome Andrew your very talented. may God bless you!! 🙏
Impressive work, greetings from Brazil. I also got to know Yngwie Malmsteen's work at a Lan house. It took me a while to appreciate and understand this guitarist's genius and inventiveness.
Thank you for your support Gabriel!
Incredibly detailed explanation. That was amazing.
Thank you kindly!
Vaya. Excelente trabajo!! No esperaba que estuviera tan bueno, sinceramente, el estilo de Malmsteen nunca me pareció la gran cosa. Muchas gracias por esto!! Abriste mis ojos jajaj
Excelente contenido.
Muchas gracias fransisco por tu comentario!!
@@Andrew-Roz The 80's Yngwie is really a treasure to see and listen over and over again
編集でロレックスやジュエリー見つかりませんみたいな編集のアイデアが凄い上手いし愛に溢れてる。楽しい!
I really appreciate your comment and support, Best regards!!!
@@Andrew-Roz You are awesome man!!! 😃😃😃. Para vos hablas español tambien jaja. AGUANTE ANDREW ROZ!!!
Thank you very much!
Is there a chance you can show how to make a drums like that? It's something that I search on internet but no one can explain in details. It would be nice!
I Use EzDrummer 2. I recommend you to twist/play a bit with the samples and create a new set/sound. i'll check if there's a way to export the preset I used.
@@Andrew-Roz that would be awesome man! I think many shredders out there is looking for it. God bless you!
