I think 🥈 is Doechii (mixtape, tour, Grammy noms and legendary Tiny Desk performance that’s still being reached to all over TH-cam) and 🥉 goes to Tyler because Chromakopia is a gut wrenchingly beautiful work of art and his Flog Gnaw performance was electrifying! It made me cry.

    Fact.
I’d go as far as saying, it’s not just rap but music overall, he’s been the hottest music artist of the year. Yeah I know Taylor swift dropped a sprawling slop of an album that did well commercially but culturally it was nothing.
Kendrick left a huge imprint in hip hop culture and pop culture overall.
    He’s 2024 artist mvp.
And what’s scary is it looks like 2025 is gonna be bigger than 2024 for him when u take into account the upcoming Grammys, Superbowl performance, album drop (more than likely), stadium tour, film with the south park guys, documentary on his 2024-2025 run (yes, DJ Hed said Dave Free has been recording everything backstage and behind the scenes even during the pop out show), etc.
Then Feb 2026 he gets to win other Grammys for his 2024-2025 Albums.
    Scary.
It looks like a movie script he’s executing.

I agree with others Doechii and Tyler were next up. I personally resonated more with Doechii's music but I have to revisiy Chromakopia.
Pretty hard though since the family has not stopped playing GNX.

Yea I think Kdot got artist of the year too. Maybe it was too show everyone that i really is just big him. Artist that i think come close would probably be Tyler or Doechii but Kdot winning that battle in the beginning of the year, announcing the super bowl and dropping GNX at the very end. He’s definitely artist of year. Well deserved too.

KDot's year for sure, especially the way his Drake takedown and cultural shift towards watching the party die (all the while Diddy's facing his consequences in real time) worked in tandem to made Katt Williams proud too, to encapsulate 2024 from how it started.... Eminem added on with TDOSS in the summer, Cordae had a good run too on the low and I'm probably forgetting someone else's good year. But Kendrick took this one 100% with no sign of stopping, heading into '25

Yeah, Kendrick most certainly swept for the hip hop championship this year. Just the impact and crash outs he caused alone are enough to win. He literally put his footprint on legacies. J Cole will always have people upset that he backed out. Not Like Us is a historic record dissing Drake. There will always be people who clown Drake for his loss. He's the first rapper to make his opponent in a rap battle go to court. That will forever haunt Drake's legacy. People will always remember Lil Wayne and Young Money ranting on Twitter about Kendrick getting the Super Bowl in New Orleans over him. It will feel like he snatched the crown 👑 away from an old GOAT contender. People will remember him ushering in West Coast unity with the Pop Out and turning the West Coast sound into the pop culture sound of the year. The sentence, "Kendrick dropped again" made it into the Google Year in Search. Everyone will remember how we all theorized on when Kendrick's next drop would be and how he and his team delivered surprise drops with little to no leaks time after time.
This year was a masterfully executed for Kendrick. I agree there's no debate for first place.
