    THANK YOU!!!! I have a 3080ti and 10700KF and for the life of me couldn't figure out why I had such low fps. I was so irritated but knew there had to be something I was missing. This was it. I found an old GTX950 I had laying around and I have way higher fps now.

    Nice, I tried this some years ago but simply found that the additional load on the CPU had an impact on smoothness. Having said that, I wasn't running a particularly great CPU at the time, so I guess if the CPU is a high end unit, then any hit it takes would be minimised. Bottom line is, you don'r get nuffin for nuffin! Good for those who find it works though.

    • @LesOReilly
      @LesOReilly  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also not sure with DX12 and the newer updates if it works as well as it used to. I switched to a 5800X3D and 4090 so I can’t really try it anymore. No On board graphics with this cpu and the GPU won’t allow a second GPU card to fit :)

    Thanks Les. Unfortunately, I don't have an integrated graphics card and no room for another gpu. Just for s's and giggles, I purchased and installed Duet to check out my ipad as another screen. Unfortunately (...another unfortunately!) dragging the pop out to that ipad / Duet screen didn't mitigate the fps drop. Setting that aside, thanks for all your YT videos and support you have provided both on YT and various Discord servers. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

      What is also weird is that in P3D with the PMDG you could get flickering if the Screen was on the Internal Graphics and not on the same Card as the main sim.... So I think many of us have that left over in the brain about where to place Sim Pop outs....

    4:25 as soon as you pop the display into the main-board-connected monitor, the fps indeed went back up but notice the main sim display is becoming more stuttery. The previous 29fps was smoother. Was that temporary? On a sidenote, this is the reason I regret getting the 13900KF instead of the 'K' only. LOL. What do you know, a few more bucks and I should have enjoyed this trick!

      I have not used one so I don’t know. But others on the RSG discord seem to have had good results.

  • @ChaseAviation
    @ChaseAviation 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm fighting this exact problem right now. 90 fps until I try to output the pop-outs to two additional, smaller screens. When I do that, the total frame rate immediately drops to 30. It's almost like 90 / 3 = 30. All three displays are currently plugged into the back of the graphics card (two display ports and one HDMI). I only have one motherboard display port. There has GOT to be a setting, somewhere, for the graphics card that tells it to split down the FPS and do some sort of FPS Sync.

    • @LesOReilly
      @LesOReilly  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No there is no setting for it MSFS does this for support of VR and locking the eyes which are separate displays maybe try DX12 some have said that has worked for them.

    Do you know if this works with an secondary graphics card too?

    • @LesOReilly
      @LesOReilly  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know .. Since I have an i7-9700K I am limited to the total number of PCIe links from the CPU.. So if I put another Card in my MoBo it will force the slots into 8x8 mode and I won't have x16 to the 2080.... Now if I had a higher end Mobo and CPU or possibly even an AMD which has more lanes then I could see trying this for sure...

    This trick is not working anymore for me… I have a second monitor attached to the mobo, but when I pop out one of the panels there, and make it full screen, it still drops a lot of fps… it was working before, but now it isn’t. I recently replaced my gtx1060 for a rtx3060. So, from 50fps drops to 25 on the same monitor as the sim, and it is the same when i move it to the second monitor. Let’s hope they fix that bug in the next update…

    In the real-world, GA aircraft have a window on both sides at 90 degrees. In FSX you could create multiple views/windows and simply drag them to your side monitors and then simply rotate the view until you now have a left view/window on the left and a right view/window on the right. I don't have FS 2020 just yet and I understand that you can't do that in 2020. Is this true? I'm not interested in window stretching because it's unrealistic.

    • @LesOReilly
      @LesOReilly  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct .... to make VR work better each Window render from the Sim will cut the Frame Rate in Half... but locked.. So P3D is still the better route when it comes to large multimonitor Veiws... There are examples where people use nvidia surround and it's only at the extreme edges that the distortion takes place... But for now still no getting around this.

      It has no difference on the CPU... the issue has to do with how MSFS made a change in Dec of 2020 to address VR issues... They Lock the Frame Rates of all instances on the same GPU... The Tablets are still going to have some issue since you need to move those Pop Outs to "some" form of a screen so I think they still render on the same GPU... Same issue as those with the USB 3.0 Display adapters... those still have FPS lock down

    My FPS drop from 50 to 25. Moving the pop out window to the CPU driven screen doesnt change this. Using the fps counter from the DEVs tools.

    • @LesOReilly
      @LesOReilly  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The FPS counter I am using is pulling the FPS from the Sim Var that is supplying the data.

      @@LesOReilly It did have a fps limit in Nvidia Inspector at 60 fps. This would cause a loss of 50% in fps when undocking a window, regardless on which screen it is placed. It works now but in the menus my GPU is running hot as the fps limit is missing.

    I have two extra displays (Aviatek G1000 panels) connected to my intergrated gpu, and with only 1 popout on the screens (G1000 PFD) my FPS does indeed boost back up to "non-popped out" performance. But as soon as I drag the second window (G1000 MFD) to the other extrnal display my FPS tanks again!!
    My main screen is a 55" LG OLED running on my RTX 3090

    • @LesOReilly
      @LesOReilly  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I see a similar thing .. again I think this has to do with the fact that the moment the SIM is being rendered twice on a GPU it locks it's self down .. If you pop out the PFD and MFD in the same render though you don't tank....
