      when it comes to comedy, you usually have to. a joke lives not just as a line, but an entire performance. you have to do it yourself to make sure it is done properly. unless it's a cheap sitcom.

    Benny Hill is a legend. In America, we fondly awaited each special from him each year; different from what we normally saw. He deserves more recognition for being the comedic genius that he was.

      Not sure where you get that idea from as Benny's been a cult comedian and folk hero in Britain for decades, so how could he possibly get more recognition? The bloke's more famous than the Royals.

    I just watched this sketch for the first time. Terrific and very clever. I remember staying up watching his show in the 70's too, he never lost his comic genius. I heard his show got cancelled because it was sexist and times were a changing. Nothing wrong with Benny Hill, he didn't offend me as a female or my mum, he made us laugh and smile and we don't forget him. RIP Mr Hill.

    I was a neighbour of Benny's seen him every time when he was in Southampton england, his Mother's home was between my Flat and his wonderful Modest home when I was a young man going to work. He would just stand in the street a while reading Newspapers even a book, the ONLY person who would not say anything but had a extremely pleasant presence, as he stood very smart in doorways watching the world go by, very simply life style kind of what one used to see in the old clips of City life. He always had a smile yet a nervousness if he thought you were to approach after recognising him, but you see I respect that attitude I salute asI pass and he would eventually smile.I believe he respected my recognition of who he is but never to invade his space, I was so sad when he passed I was in shock as if I had been kind of very close friend who never spoke one word

      I would not be surprised if, in his travels, he heard people whose command of the English language was shaky at best. We saw this in his Scuttle-isms and in some of his other characters. Once had a next-door neighbor who had a few - once said that a commitee had passed a resolution "anonymously," and referred to a famous Michelangelo painting as "the Sixteen Chapel."

    Benny Hill is among the greatest comedians ever. His brand of humor was unique and one of a kind and it was a privilege to have lived in his time. I'm sad to say it's probably a good thing he's not among us today to see how society has pandered to the lunatic left and their fragile state of mind.

    In the mid-eighties, when I was about ten years old, Benny was an idol for me, behind the iron curtain his show was one of the few things that gave a ray of smile and fun. I didn't understand the politics, media, propaganda and all this crap, I just turned on the Russian TV with the Japanese picture tube and laughed. It was only later that I realized that the system in which I lived limited and sometimes even prevented freedom of expression. It was even more astonishing to me that my childhood idol was being accused of sexism and other insults. It was a shock for me. How could Great Britain, a country where freedom of speech used to be, let this happen and got Benny off the air because of accusations that were ridiculous. Cry, Great Nation, because you have met the bitterness of defeat twice in history. First Hastings, then Hill's humiliation, taking everything he had from him. Unfortunately, old toads from the union, feminists, won the second battle. This defeat was much more severe. Rest in peace, Benny. Nothing is so much fun since you are gone

      We watched him in communist Yugoslavia in the 80s as well:)

    • @clonecommanderfoggy682
      @clonecommanderfoggy682 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps too much freedom of expression is a bad thing, no? I mean the West were the ones to have it and now look at us, whilst the Communist countries are quite normal.

    • @krisleeman4777
      @krisleeman4777 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@clonecommanderfoggy682 what do you mean by "to much freedom"? Who is going to decide what I can think or talk? Who is to set the rules and limits? There is no such a thing like "to much" regarding to freedom of speach. You should rather redefine "normal" whenever you analyse present disturbancies in former comunist countries like Poland and Hungary, where demokracy and free expresion are persistantly diminished. I don't have to agree with you, but I shall always let you express your opinion.

    • @clonecommanderfoggy682
      @clonecommanderfoggy682 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@krisleeman4777 Well too much freedom of expression has let the stupid and the wicked take control of the country and espouse their evil point of view. I reckon a degree of limitation on speech in public circulation would definitely stop these people. For example, we wouldn't have gender confusion, we wouldn't have revised history, we wouldn't have an entire generation or two feeling guilty for what their ancestors did 300 years ago. In former Communist countries, not saying Fascist because they were utterly destroyed and humiliated, where they were left to their own devices, there is very little of this perversion of nature. Democracy is a buzzword and is like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. No matter how much you pursue it, you will never get it and you will end up running off a cliff after it. Democracy and freedom do not go hand in hand. Look at Australia for a definite example. Canada, the UK, the USA and all the rest of the Western countries will end up just like that.

    • @krisleeman4777
      @krisleeman4777 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@clonecommanderfoggy682 I can only comment on the situation in my country, as I know it quite well. I do not believe that it is too much freedom of expression that made it possible to take over the government. People voted for specific promises. During 30 years of constant transformation of the political system and leaving communism, the previous government gave them literally nothing. Constant sacrifices for the sake of an undefined bright future. Currently, the rulers simply had paid for the votes. To put it bluntly, my countrymen sold themselves for PLN 500 (just over EUR 100). This is how much you get for each child born, and pensioners get extra money once in a while. There are voices among the people that so far everyone has only stolen and given nothing, so it's better than it used to be, which made re-election possible. Most people realize that public television is lying, but they don't care. As a side effect, prices are rampant and we have the highest inflation in the EU, but hardly anyone can see the relationship. It turns out that not much has changed since Roman times. Whoever gives games and bread wins. The truth is less important.

      Oh dear. Someone here who seems to think that Robin Williams is British, someone else with a friggin’ Union flag as their avatar, and another who quite rightly observed that ‘they don’t make comedy like this anymore’. I’m afraid this is a very poor sketch. Appalling American accents, lazy sexual stereotype gags and appealing to the lowest common denominator. I have two kids in their 20’s; I can guarantee that not only would they see this as offensive but would also fail to see anything remotely funny in it! Times change guys. Tastes change. If you want to see bawdy humour done with panache and with considerably more respect given to the female characters check out W. C. Fields’ dentist sketch from 1931. Clever AND erotic and succeeding everywhere where this fails. And before you jump to conclusions I can and do laugh at some BH but this is awful!
