Great instruction. I liked it when you said you looked at your reference more that your drawing, it made loads of sense. I have subscribed. Thanks again.
Thank you for sharing such inspiration and tips! After watching a small handful of charcoal tutorials (I’m a beginner - just received a charcoal kit/ never tried this before), this video was most inspiring and helpful for me to start playing- and I’m so proud of my 1st charcoal attempt ever :)
Great tutorial, thanks for sharing your knowledge freely, can't wait to start doing this myself but bogged down with commission work at the moment, will be nice to have some freedom to just create what I want to do. THIS!
I am fascinated with this art. I wish u had all your videos in succession to learn about tools u use I e sharping slowing down, does ur hand hit paper where u don’t want it etc.
Strathmore I think is the best.i love using needed erasers with charcoal...I like using newsprint for practice work...thumbnails...I notice that the position of the face is facing more forward in the drawing vs the photo, but otherwise it is an excellent rendering. I love this
This is fantastic instruction. I was wondering if you would have also charcoaled-in the background, especially on the left side of the page, or would it be better the way it is? Thankyou, John
If you squint and learn how to see while squinting, you can pretty much work a proportion in. I often cheat when i draw..True art is honest. If you mess something up.and try to fool everyone, it won't work. Theres always a discerning eye who will notice and point it out. Art is about truth and beauty, but that's just my opinion. We NEED art in our lives.
This is SO BEAUTIFUL to watch! Thank-you so much! I've actually been avoiding charcoal as I'm a bit of a neat freak.. but I'm SO TEMPTED to try it now after watching your videos! Thank-you again and keep up the amazing work! 👏👏👏👏

I love how the eraser is as important a tool as the charcoal. Not many other artistic mediums have this tool available

The fellow on the left reminds me of a very young Jamie Nares..

I do not call myself an artist yet but your proportions are kinda messed up....
he did not even use grids on this but it's amazing, he is a real artist
I agree, the proportion and from is not accurate at all
@@yangguo402 You have to understand that he is demonstrating only a lay-in. It is not finished.
And? In order to learn you draw. Doesn't mean you can't make good looking art if you have mistakes
